“You tricked me,” her dry lips could hardly utter whilst a very fake smirk on his face irked her.
He glared at her in response and then shook his head in disbelief, “you thought you were the only one good at that?” he had extended his arms on the sofa’s hand-rest and his one foot over the other.
“Now, do you guys mind leaving?” he tilted his head very slightly, “as you know this ain’t your picnic spot.” He made direct eye contact with Lady Lyl, the threat he made through his eyes was enough to announce to Lady Lyl that her entire business will go downhill if she didn’t do what he said.
“Kathleen!” Lady Lyl stared at her daughter’s face, who hasn’t looked away from Ryker. Her eyes were glued to the man she had once loved unconditionally, the man she never thought could be this evil.
But the question was, why?
“I will be fine, mother.” She responded without looking away from Ryker, who was now resting his head back and comfortably staring her right in the eye.
“Are you sure?” Roy decided to hold Kathleen’s hand and pat the back of it. Seeing him care so much made Ryker look down and scoff while shaking his head. The taunting way he used to close his eyes and hold his laughter back even confused Kathleen. What was wrong with him?
“Yes,” Kathleen tried to get a hold of herself and straightened her back. She wasn’t going to satisfy Ryker’s ego by acting weak. Soon her family left and now she was once again alone with someone she was afraid of.
“How many times did you sleep with that guy?” Ryker was still sitting in the same position when Kathleen walked back into the lounge. She had admitted to the fact that she couldn’t hide from him anymore, if he thought he could make her sign some documents and then scare her into leaving her baby behind for her freedom, then he thought wrong.
She stared at his face in disbelief while he steadily pulled the corner of his lips upward to form a very sarcastic smirk.
“Speak for yourself, not everyone is an as*hole as you.” She didn’t care what he says anymore, he was not going to hurt her as long as she was pregnant.
“Ehh!” Ryker let out a very bizarre little laugh and then staggered up on his feet, making her step back as a reflex.
“Well, I am tired, I need someone to massage my feet.” He stretched a little, pulling his hands up, yawning and sighing, “You know what to do if you don’t want me to make your life miserable.” He straightened his back and pointed at Kathleen.
“You are losing your respect in my eyes by every passing minute,” as naïve as she was, Kathleen thought he would care about what she thinks of him if not much at least a little.
“You heard me, I am not in a mood for your emotional Oscar award-winning acting,” he rolled his eyes at her attempts to keep talking to him, to keep lying to him.
“I am not touching your filthy body,” Kathleen responded back, “Do you have any shame in you? I get it, that the incompetent man inside you doesn’t care about me but do you not see that I am carrying your child? First, you terrorized me into locking myself out in the cold and then I found out that you tricked me into signing something that I wasn’t aware of and now you want me to massage you?” If only she hadn’t signed those papers, she would have slapped some senses into him.
She waited for him to respond, maybe at least he will spare her for their baby.
“You want some peace or not? Then do as I say and you will live here calmly or--,” Ryker took one step closer to Kathleen, which made her then back away from him, “or I will make sure your life here is so hard that you decide to leave, even, you’ll beg me to keep the baby and let you go.” The hatred in his voice was so intense that Kathleen couldn’t respond to him.
“Now!” he parted his lips to let out a tiring sigh before he turned around and walked towards his room, he paused for a second, and when Kathleen has begun to follow him, he continued his walk.
She was tired of how he was treating her, when will her misery end now that she is stuck due to that stupid contract?
“You know what,” As Ryker sat down in his bed, he mumbled, “just get out of my room.” Just when she was getting ready to do what he had told her, he dismissed her with a very bad attitude.
“Are you okay in your head?” she stepped away from the bed and glared at his image.
“Get the f*** out,” he repeated himself and this time, even angrily. She wasn’t going to argue with him as he wasn’t ready to hear or have a proper conversation. She turned around and began to leave when he voiced again, “a girl will leave some food, eat that sh**, I want my baby healthy.” She didn’t turn around to him and just exit the room.
She had only reached the living room when Nichole knocked on the door.
“Hey,” Kathleen smiled the moment she opened the door and saw a known face, though they had started off rough after Willow made amends with Kathleen, she thought other girls had changed their feelings towards her as well.
“This is for you,” Nichole’s bitter tone didn’t go unnoticed by Kathleen, as she narrowed her eyes in confusion, Nichole added, “You successfully trapped him.”
The smile from Kathleen’s lips vanished and she clenched her jaw. Why was it that everybody was willing to judge her without even knowing her?
“What did you say? I trapped him?” the tone Kathleen used was enough hint that Nichole was not welcomed to bully her anymore, “Nichole, if you used such terms for me again, I will not warn you, I will take an action.” Absorbing the tears of being judged all the time, Kathleen kept her posture straight and stared her right in the eye.
Nichole got the hint and after nodding her head, she turned around and parted for her room.
“Everyone!” she shook her head in disappointment and tailed back to the couch she was going to sleep on. The night ended with her dozing off on the couch and when she woke up the next morning, she noticed that she had a blanket over her body and there was only one person who could do it.
“Ryker?” she murmured with a frown on her forehead, “But why would he care, he is the reason I am suffering.
The next two days were the same as before, neither Kathleen wanted to speak to Ryker nor did he care for her.As a few days passed by, Ryker's attitude towards her changed a bit. It seemed like he had stopped annoying her purposely. Since he was busy with work, he didn't want to stress himself out with unnecessary brawls. He and Kathleen even started having lunch and dinners at the same dining table. He had started a new business of Ker's Fashion, something he had always wanted to do since the beginning. He had many businesses but this one was going to be a game-changer for him."Yeah! Just a new face." Ryker walked out of the room to sit down with Kathleen, who had already started eating her food.Despite them sitting together, they would hardly ever speak."I want a perfect model for my first fashion show for Ker's Fashion." He was speaking to his secretary on the call and Kathleen could make out that he was looking for some new models to promote
Things started getting weird when Ryker would come back home with Eloise after shooting and they will sit on the terrace to talk for hours. It seemed like they were bonding well, Kathleen felt guilty for even being remotely jealous of this new girl. After how Ryker had treated her and the allegations made by her own brother if anything she should hate this man only. Every time she felt some time of way about him being too close to this new girl, she rounded it up to be the emotional attachment because of her pregnancy.“I will leave now,” Eloise has a pleasant smile on her lips as she walked towards the exit with Ryker, “Bye, Kathleen!” she voiced from the door and instead of responding to her, Kathleen just looked away to the utensils she was picking up.“Oh!” Kathleen heard her gasp but she had no strength to look at her and engage in any more interactions with these. Since things had been going pretty well, with him minding
Ryker and Eloise were in the room: together. She was sitting on the couch from across the table while he had the crib and its manual opened before him.Kathleen was madder at the fact that he was preparing her room with Eloise's choices.
She knew she would look desperate if got caught but it was going to helpful for her to move on from someone, who knows she caught him with another woman. She stood in the doorway and then with her fingertips she gently knocked on the door to get their attention.
After Kathleen had spent the night alone and in pain, the next day brought even a new challenge for her."You are invited to the inauguration of the Ker's clothing brand." Ryker's assistant, Mr. George, announced from the door to Kathleen. She was still half asleep and awoken by the constant ringing of the bell at 10 am."Today?" Kathleen rubbed her swollen eyes and tried to focus on his face. Ryker and Eloise must have left early in the morning to prepare for the inauguration."Yes ma'am today," George bobbed his head obediently, "A car will pick you up in two hours," George announced and parted his way downstairs quickly. It all lined up now, Ryker and Eloise must have been together from way long before Kathleen could even know. May
"What is happening?" she uttered in panic, shivering when the guys opened the door forcefully as one of them had already pulled the driver to the side.Kathleen's heart seemed to be jumping out of her mouth out of stress. She was pregnant and these men didn't seem to care about her condition because the moment her door opened, the guy with a red scarf, hiding his face, pulled her out with force. She couldn't notice anything in haste but the cross tattoo on his chest that she could look at from the unbuttoned shirt was something that grabbed her attention."What do---you wa---nt," she was murmuring under her breath as the two of them pointed a gun at her and the others at the driver."Give us whatever you have," they demanded from the driver but then one of them turned his attention towards Kathleen, who was starting to panic until she passes out."She seems like a rich lady," one guy spoke when he probably recognized her from the news earlier, "I s
During the entire car ride, she had the 911 on speed dial but something still didn't feel right to her.She thought maybe it was because she was too nervous, or maybe the fear of being close to him had reminded her of her last encounter with Cain when he offered her a roof and then locked her inside a room so that he could force her into sleeping with him.
"Ryker!" Kathleen jumped the moment she realized how close he was to her. Even though they had been through a lot, it still surprised her that her skin got goosebumps to his touch."Relax! I'm not gonna eat you." He frowned, not pulling away from Kathleen. She lowered her face whilst he gently massaged her back in the most awkward position but it didn't take Kathleen too long to get back into her sense and gently push Ryker away, he looked surprised."Don't start what I have finally stepped back from." She uttered very softly with her eyes lowered at her empty fingers, "Wait! Where is my ring?" she questioned, looking around on the couch and running her hands around to look for the ring.It wasn't anything expensive, but she had it on after she found it in her brother's bags, he had bought it for her birthday but couldn't give it to her due to the accident."What happened?" Ryker saw her going crazy after something so ordinary and couldn't help but to ask
