Curiosity killed the cat

An eerie silence fell over the ambience for a moment while I stood there frozen. Only the sound of my own heavy breath reached my ears.

Then I heard heavy footsteps of boots approaching from the other side of the room they were in.

Why is Emerald not telling anyone like Carter or Duncan what’s so they can help. Duncan saved her life. Also instead of sending a text for Ace to call her earlier why did she not send a text warning him about the car.

also I think that the car was not ace, but carter and tess on their way back from their honeymoon or the car was empty.
