“Let’s go out.”
I was reading a book from the library when Dark knocked on the door. I immediately closed the book when he appeared he looked at what I was reading. A smile plastered on my lips as I regarded him.
“Oh, where are we going?” I asked with mandatory enthusiasm to avoid suspicions.
“At the mall. We will buy a dress for you,” he said.
“But why?”
“Dinner in Baguio,” he said. “Jachrimo is already there.”
“And do you mind if I ask why we are going to Baguio? It is too far… and cold,” I suggested and tilted my head.
“A celebration,” he answered briefly answered and turned his back on me. “You’d better be ready next minute.”
My face was disgruntled as I followed him with my glares. He talked to a maid before going his way. The maid, on the other hand, escorted me to my room and gave me the privacy to change.
Sometimes, he is sweet. Sometimes, he is just a pure asshole. I could stand his cousin more than him. He wanted me to be his wife, and yet, I could not even go closer to him.
But well, I don’t intend to be closer to him, anyway. The moment we get married, I will be able to locate their headquarters when he introduces me to his gang. My father would be able to identify the mafia boss’ intentions and his secret establishments in the city. After that, I would not be able to doubt that I would assassinate him.
My targets in the record do not end well.
I wore a simple dress that felt like it was only for Sunday masses. It was not my type, but this will match the innocence as my façade to manipulate him. I don’t have any idea how he chose these types of dresses when clearly, these are for only nerds. I am not a nerd. I am a queen bee! Even in my college days, I was a campus crush.
Even though I was protesting deep inside me, I continued dressing up. I put light makeup on, combed my hair after drying it, and wore mediocre heels that would match my outfit. When I was done dressing up, I looked at myself in the mirror. Simple, delicate, and innocent. Perfect, I must say. After removing a small smudge of lipstick from the left side of my lips, I walked towards the door of my room to open it.
“Did you see Dark?” I asked the maid who was wiping the railings off the floor.
“He is already at the entrance of the mansion, ma’am,” she informed me. “Would you like to be escorted?”
I shook my head. “No, thanks,” I said and flipped my hair before going downstairs.
The mansion was empty and silent. How much more if Dark and I would go to Baguio? It would be so hunted. But well, he has the maids.
I wonder what happened to his family, though. I suddenly remembered that his parents were killed.
And Layla… who the fuck is Layla?
While I was thinking about it, I could already see Dark Vergara who was on a phone call. His stoic expression was implemented around his face. A serious topic, I contemplated. He must have heard my heels, so he turned to me unconsciously.
I smiled as I stopped in my tracks so he could analyze what I was wearing. I even turned around as he just hovered his gaze over my body.
“Well, do I look okay?” I asked.
I saw how he ticked his jaw, an unknown type of pain went through his eyes, and clenched his fists. Because of his complicated reaction, I had to stop.
“Why? Is there a problem?” I added my question.
I knew I was not gorgeous because of this stupid dress, but I was confident that I was not ugly! How could he bestow that stupid expression? It made me feel like I was really ugly in his eyes!
Dark avoided his gaze and ended the call from his phone. Without saying anything, he opened the door of his car and stashed his other hand in his pocket. I had to roll my eyes and could not help myself but to hiss. I feel so offended!
I went inside his car without talking to him. He did the same when he finally sat in the driver’s seat and turned the engine on. I was frowning the whole time because his silence irritated me a lot. We arrived at the mall minutes later, and he parked his car in the parking lot.
“Come outside now,” he said and opened the door for me again.
I rolled my eyes, and I made sure that he saw it. He furrowed his eyebrows and blinked.
“Woah, what was that?” he mumbled.
“What?” I asked in a stoic voice.
“Why are you rolling my eyes at me?”
“What? What are you talking about? Why would I roll my eyes at you?”
But the sarcasm was very obvious. I could not hide it because I was annoyed at him. I started walking towards the entrance of the mall while clenching my fists.
I hate it when someone makes me feel like I am so ugly. What was with his stares, by the way? He made me wear this dress, and he looked at me like he was in distress.
Goodness, I cannot even stand this man!
“Rose!” he called me as he stalked behind me. “Wait for me!”
I heard his car’s alarm, locking it. I was already nearing the entrance, when I gasped at how aggressively he pulled my arm as I bumped into his chest hard. I looked up and was about to reprimand him, but I heard the roar of a car behind me as he glared at the vehicle.
That was when I realized that I was almost killed by it while I was passing by.
I slowly looked up to Dark who was tightly hugging me as he furrowed his eyebrows and watched the car sprinting away which was about to hit me a while ago. I could see his chiseled jaw above my forehead, making me gulp due to its intense feeling it was giving me.“Fuck that driver…” he mumbled and looked down at me. “Are you okay?”I immediately shook my head and snapped out from my thoughts so I could push his chest away. “I… I’m sorry…” I said and cleared my throat.“Why are you mad, by the way?” he asked.“I am not,” I denied abruptly and turned my back on him, only to realize that my heart was beating so fast.We entered the mall after the guard examined the two of us. A woman in a black suit and hair in a bun who was formally standing in front of the guard straightened up as she saw us. I was about to ignore her, but Dark approached her half way. I squinted my eyes and did not have any choice but to follow.“Good day, sir,” the serious woman greeted with a frowning face. “I hope

I paced back and forth in my room as I repeatedly looked at the cell phone plastered on the bed. I am reluctant to call my dad and report to him that Dark Vergara wants to marry me.This is the thing that I want, right? I am here to seduce him so that he will fall in love with me, ask my hand, and marry me to gain information about his gang's lousy activities. After that, I am out on this mission. But why is this happening all so fast? I did even go pass by a month here, and yet he is already proposing to me, which was my ultimate goal that I expected to go through a process. Because it was supposed to be that way!To distract his enemies? What does he mean by that? After pacing back and forth, I decided to try opening his study room again and not call my daddy to report anything unless I had my own answers. I have to investigate on my own this time because I am confused about his motives. He is not well-aware of who I am, so it is impossible that he knows about my identity and decides
I'm thirsty. That was what I thought when I got up in bed and felt my throat so parched in the middle of my sleep. Going to the kitchen was the primary plan I had as I stood up and left my room to drink water. While yawning and going down the staircase, I noticed how dark the mansion was because the lights were all turned off... except the dining hall. I could see it through the hallway, pertaining that someone was still awake. A maid, perhaps? I would not be bothered in either ways since I also interact with them to create a good reputation in this mansion. In that way, they could also respect me as much as they respect Dark.I did not mind a person being in the kitchen, though. I just walked through the silent and eerie hallway. I will gradually see who is awake since I will have to pass by the dining hall before I can get to the refrigerator."S-Sir!" I exclaimed and almost jumped when I saw Dark Vergara sitting on a stool in front of the counter of a small bar. He only raised h
"Here it is..."I paused, watching the television in front of me when Dark just swayed himself over towards my direction. His nonchalant expression greeted me as he placed some women's clothes beside the sofa where I was sitting. I looked up at him and caressed the clothes he had just brought."You can wear all of these while you are here," he said, and demonstrated his hands."These are not new. Whose clothes are these?" I curiously asked when I noticed that there were no tags, and they looked like they were already used.On that question, he avoided his gaze and transferred it to the ongoing show on television. I squinted at his reaction. That was suspicious. "No questions. Just wear them," he said, avoiding the question. "Anyway, are you comfortable here? Or do you want me to transfer you to another room?""No, I am good," I said and smiled. "Tomorrow, we will go to your place where you and your supposed husband reside." I feel like I was caught red-handed. What? Why does he nee
"Have you already proceeded to meet him?" Dad asked from the other line. I tiptoed towards the huge curtains in the living area and stole a glance from the grand staircase, checking if someone was listening to me. Thank goodness the maids are busy in the pool area, so the living area was deserted. It was only me in the middle of a hot morning. "Yes, Dad," I answered and peeked over the thick, expensive curtains to see the maids cleaning outside. "I am in his mansion, and he is currently in his room. I don't know if he has the agenda for his gang today. Yesterday... everything happened so quickly..."From me planning to be hit by his car, so I could gain his sympathy. Went to the hospital, pretended that I was unconscious, and was even shocked that he was there - waiting for me to wake up. He even watched me open my eyes and guided me to sit on the hospital bed. And now... I am in his mansion with a roof on my head, a guest room that was offered to me, and a time frame that we could
