ARYA

It was unnerving how Aunt Sally was constantly stealing glances at me when she thought I wasn't looking. I'd woken up earlier this morning, only to find myself in Daxton's bed, wearing one of his shirts. I'd been horrified to know that he'd changed my clothes without my permission, but what worried me more was the fact that I couldn't recall why I'd ended up in his bed. The last thing I remembered was tending to him in bed.

Judging from the side eyes Aunt Sally was sending my way, she definitely knew something I didn't.

Clearing my throat, I dropped the damp cloth which I'd been using to wipe the kitchen counter. Then I moved over to where she stood, pouring hot water into a teacup. She stiffened once I was close enough.

"Is there something you would like to say to me?" I asked, and she shook her head. Letting out a sigh, I latched onto her arm, resting my head on her shoulder.

"Sallie, I thought we'd grown closer. Do you bear a grudge against me?" I asked.

"I don't. It's n

ARYA I blinked at the sight of Soren, who stood in front of my room with a blank look on his face. He looked like he wanted to be anywhere but there. I guess his alpha had given him an instruction he couldn't refuse. We both stared at each other in silence for a few seconds, a frigid tension settling between us. "Aren't you going to say anything? You knocked on my door," I said, my voice tinged with impatience. "You have a visitor." The words stiffly left his mouth. I arched a brow at him, surprised. "A visitor?" He nodded, and I frowned. As far as I could tell, I didn't have any friend who would pay me a visit just for the sake of it. So, who the hell was this uninvited visitor? I got my answer shortly after. I stood in the garden with my 'visitor' standing beside me. Dressed in a dark blue shirt with the sleeves rolled up and black pants, he towered above me. He squinted at the sun, his light brown eyes shimmering. He seemed nervous. It was obvious in the way he kept shifti

DAXTON The memory crept in before I could stop it. Soft hands threading through my hair. The scent of wild jasmine clinging to her skin. Anessa. It was a lazy summer afternoon. We'd been lying under the old willow tree for a while. I had my head in her lap. I kept my eyes closed, pretending to be asleep while she hummed above me. Every so often, she would gently run her fingers through the strands of hair on my head. "You always look less terrifying when you're half-asleep," she teased, her voice light. I cracked an eye open. "And you look smug when you're right." She laughed softly. That familiar, genuine sound was the kind that sank beneath my ribs and made a home there. It should have lasted forever. But even as the memory clung to me like golden sunlight, it twisted— Blood. Screaming. Her body limp in my arms. The chill in the air... I tried to hold onto the good part—the sunlight, her laughter—but it slipped through my fingers like sand. Always slipping away

ARYA Anxiety gripped me as I stared at the journal in Alpha Daxton's hand, my mind descending into chaos. How did he find the journal? Had it been in his possession all along? "You're not going to talk?" He arched a brow at me, and I blinked, struggling to regain my composure. "I don't even know what that ring is. I swear I didn't steal it," I blurted out. He stared at me for a few seconds. Then he let out a sigh. "If your competitor is going this far to set you up, they must hate your guts," he pointed out, and I heaved a sigh of relief. He believed me. Alpha Daxton closed the jewellery box and held out the journal to me. "Here's your gift," he said. I tried not to act too excited, but my fingers trembled as I took the book from him, my heart thumping in my chest. "You knew that I wouldn't have stolen your ring, didn't you?" I asked, and he shrugged. "It was just an excuse to give you that journal," he replied, and I narrowed my eyes at him in suspicion. "How did you find it

  • The Tribrid Alpha’s Nemesis    033: THIS IS’NT A DATE

ARYA I stared at my reflection in front of the mirror in my room, my fingers lightly stroking the pearl necklace around my neck. I let out a sound which was a mix of a chuckle and a sob. I couldn't believe I was really going on a date with my mother's killer. My poor mum would be so disappointed in me. The dress clung to my body in a way I struggled to get used to. It was a black satin slip floor-length dress with a sweetheart neckline. It had a daring slit that revealed too much of my legs. The lace trim on the neckline and hem was delicate, but it made me feel... exposed. I'd never worn such fancy dresses before I was sold. Never would I have imagined that my life would change this much. A knock on the door of my room told me Daxton was ready and had probably been waiting for me for a while. Taking a deep breath, I strode towards the door and pulled it open. There stood Mason. He smiled the instant he saw me. "Sallie is a genius," he said, and I nearly rolled my eyes. Even t

DAXTON Relief crashed into me so hard, my knees felt weak even while I sat there in my chair. I'd literally been saved by this unexpected situation. What impeccable timing. "What's your take on this?" I asked Arya, and she frowned. "Why are you asking me that?" "I need to know if you still need me to handle this. You were about to reject me after all." The words tasted bitter and revolting. Arya lowered her head. "If I went ahead to reject you, would you really give me away to him?" I rose to my feet. "I can't choose for you." She looked up at me, a spark of irritation igniting in her eyes. "That's blackmail." "Look, I don't know what's going on between the both of you, but we need to do something quickly," my brother said, his voice laced with concern. Arya groaned, her hands tangling in her hair, fingers gripping the strands like she could tear them out to escape this suffocating mess. "What do I do?" she rasped. At this point, it was obvious that the alpha king would hav
