Amira waits patiently as the students slowly flow out of the class at the end of the lecture so she can rush up to the front and bring Calix up to speed about her morning. Once the last student is gone she wanders up next to him. “Hey, there’s something I wanted to talk to you about.” He stops her and pulls his chair out from his desk while sitting, motioning for her to sit on his lap. “You can tell me from here.” She rolls her eyes and but plants herself firmly in his lap and opens her mouth to continue talking. He once again cuts her off by kissing her neck, going right for her weak spot and clings to her as if they haven’t seen each other in days. “We just saw each other this morning, and we got more than enough quality time.” She blushes and turns her face away. He nuzzles the side of her face. “It’s not my fault, it’s even more agonizing being away from you for even a second now.” “Hold on a second.” She
“Good morning, what can I get for you?” The barista smiles over the counter. “Just a small dark roast coffee please,” Amira says and hands over a bill. This has been her morning routine for the past 3 years that she has been working part-time at her father’s head office. She discovered this small café around the corner from the building, giving her somewhere to go during lunches if she doesn’t feel like sitting in his stuffy office. The barista hands her the small cup and she waits in line for the sugar and cream bar. She looks around the brightly lit seating area and her heart nearly stops when she spots Evander clear as day seated at the far end of the café by the window. There is a jacket over the back of the chair opposite of him and soon after a young red-headed woman sits down across, only the side of her face visible to Amira. She peers at the woman’s face and wonders why she looks so familiar; she has never seen this woman before she can swe
“Get a pack doctor, now!” Calix shouts, holding Amira’s cold and lifeless body in his shaking hands. A servant comes and offers to take her to the pack infirmary, taking her from his arms when he doesn’t react to his words and rushes out of the room. The faint whimper of Myla wakes him from his shock, and he turns toward her in a flash, grabbing her by the throat and crushing her against the wall. “Give me one reason not to end your life right now?” She gasps and claws at his hands, unable to speak. “Calix, please reconsider, she is my sister and someone who has been a dear friend until now. Give her another chance,” Malachi pleads. “Another chance! She tried to kill my mate, she has made it clear from the start she has hated Amira and has now shown she doesn’t hold any respect or care for her Alpha.” Myla shakes her head, her face going red before he finally lets her go. “Please, spare me, Calix
Amira awakes to multiple things beeping around her and assumes her alarm is going off in her delirious state. She tries to reach over and grasp her phone, but something tugs painfully on her arm and wakes her up completely to see a tube sticking out of one arm and an IV in the other. She blinks her eyes against the white light, shocked to see she is back in her room at home rather than in a hospital or Calix’s bedroom. The last thing she remembers is being bitten by Myla and bleeding out before Calix found her, but she passed out seconds after and doesn’t remember anything else. Where is Calix, and why isn’t she back at the pack house? Her mother walks into her room carrying a tray of food, but quickly drops is when she sees Amira sitting up in the bed, letting out a large cry that alerts her father. “You’re awake, thank God!” she cries and runs over, hugging her in a death grip. “Be careful, sweetheart, you might hurt her,” her father c
Over the week of Amira’s freedom, she feels she has been transported back to her high school days of sneaking around the school and hooking up. Except she doesn’t remember any of those things involving the teachers, yet here she was stealing kisses after class and the occasional closet hook-up to energize the batteries with her college professor, always leaving her wanting much more. It’s been hard for Amira to come home and keep up the act that she is still upset over not seeing Calix when her cheeks are usually still flushed by the time her parents pick her up. After what feels like a surreal dream of a week, the long-awaited dinner with Evander has come, but rather than sitting alongside him probably eating delicious food, she is sitting at home under the watchful eyes of her parents and the boredom of her bedroom. This leaves her with nothing more to do than work on her weekly assignments and think back on her eventful week with Calix. She pop

Reader discretion is advised.** ~*~*~*~ Calix has no memory of how he gets to Amira’s place until he is crawling through her bedroom window, his mind and vision completely distorted by the drug by now. He sees Amira speaking but can’t hear her voice, everything ringing around him and the only thought on his mind is to attack her. He listens to his impulse and grabs her by the back of the neck to pull her in for a deep, hungry kiss. He pushes her back against the bed despite her shoving against him, trying to ask through muffled gasps what has gotten into him. “Myla…” he manages to mutter. “Drugged…” Oh god, what the hell happened at the dinner? “You’ve been drugged?” Calix nods his head but attacks her lips again, pushing her down flat on the bed. For a split second, she allows herself to give in to him, her anticipation for this mome
It has been two days since Amira was hospitalized and for once Calix is able to feel a fleeting feeling of relief when the mate bond between them finally falls into place. But that relief was quickly taken away when the flood of pain she is suffering despite being unconscious hit him. He could feel every emotion and ounce of pain she experienced while her body healed and adjusted to the mate mark settling into her system. He is amazed she survived in the condition she is currently in, making it all the more agonizing knowing he will never see her again. Regardless of what her mother says, he can’t deny any longer that he is the one who has brought her all this unnecessary suffering. Myla would have never attacked her if he had dealt with her properly the first time, instead of trusting in their childhood bond and leaving her with a firm warning. It was clear who the culprit was after Calix came to his senses. Myla must have snuck back into the pack
Amira is forcefully woken up from her deep sleep by a searing hot pain in her neck as someone presses down into her wound through the bandage. Her eyes flash open and she cries out, trying to sit up with her wrists are tied to the bed, keeping her from sitting up completely. “You’re finally awake.” She stiffens at the familiar sounding voice, afraid to turn around and confirm his face, but Evander does her the honour and walks around with the same stupid grin he always has, except this time it looks a little more maniacal than before. “What in the hell are you doing? Where am I?” He scoffs. “Can you really say you’re that surprised to find out this much about me? It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that you’ve been uncomfortable with me from the start, it’s called intuition, and you clearly have a good one but ignore it. If you hadn’t, you might have saved yourself a lot of trouble in life.” “What do you know
