Chapter 7: Landlady's Visit

Mrs Brown was able to walk to the car with Chantel holding her hand but Mr Brown was given crutches to aid his walking. Ruth helped him to the car and they left for the house.

It was a few minutes to noon when they arrived at their apartment. Chantel helped Mrs Brown and Ruth helped Mr Brown to get down from the car. Ruth went ahead with Mr Brown with Mrs Brown thrilling behind her and Chantel paid the driver before following them into the house.

Inside, Mrs Brown sat on the sofa in the living room and Mr Brown was taken to the room to lie down on the bed.

"I am going to prepare some food for you," Ruth said and he again nodded

"Dad, can you speak?" she asked wondering why he had not said a word since he woke up from the surgery.

Mr Brown looked at her and smiled weakly. Ruth's eyes were immediately filled with tears concluding there was something wrong with her father's speech.
