I stepped out of the bathroom with a towel loosely wrapped around me, my breathing still uneven.

Xavier was already waiting in the room. He stood by the window, still wearing a dark robe, with the city of Vanguard spread out behind him like a map he owned. His eyes immediately locked onto the necklace around my neck, then dropped to the edge of the towel, before returning to my face.

"That was quick," he said flatly.

"You were the one who told me not to take too long."

I stepped out of the bathroom with a towel loosely wrapped around me, my breathing still uneven.Xavier was already waiting in the room. He stood by the window, still wearing a dark robe, with the city of Vanguard spread out behind him like a map he owned. His eyes immediately locked onto the necklace around my neck, then dropped to the edge of the towel, before returning to my face."That was quick," he said flatly."You were the one who told me not to take too long."He didn't smile. "Good. Then let's begin."I stiffened. "Begin what?"Xavier stepped closer. His pace wasn't hurried, yet with every bit of distance he closed, my chest felt tighter. "You're wearing that mark again because you need my protection. You agreed to any terms, as long as the clinic stayed safe. Tonight, we make sure you understand what that means."I glared at him. "I'm already wearing it. What else do you want?""Obedience that doesn't just surface when you're afraid

When we arrived, Mrs. Gable was already waiting near the entrance. The middle-aged woman looked at me once, then at Xavier, then back at me. Her eyes were sharp, but not unkind. She immediately knew something was different.“Miss Holloway,” she greeted politely, her soft Scottish accent unmistakable. “You look exhausted. Best get some rest first.”I had no choice but to nod like the obedient Omega I wasn't.Xavier took off his coat and handed it to her without looking back. “Take her to the east bedroom.”Mrs. Gable nodded. “Of course.”I followed her down the silent corridor. The thick carpet swallowed our footsteps. Every detail in this place felt so distinctly Winterhell: minimal, expensive, and very Scandinavian horror chic.I turned to Mrs. Gable. “Do you like working here, Mrs. Gable?”Mrs. Gable looked at me blankly and opened the door at the end of the corridor.“This is your room,” she said. “Mr. Xavier has had everything prepared.”Ciel huffed.Well, even his housekeeper hat

The clinic air felt stifling. Matias let out a short, dark laugh."Wow," he said, clapping slowly. "Look at that. A Lycan prince comes to The Pit with a collar, a recording, and an attitude like he owns the place. Then he starts talking about contracts, protection, and priorities. You think we're going to kneel just because you say 'put it back on'?"Xavier stared at him blankly. "I wasn't talking to you.""Too bad." Matias took a step closer. "Because *I'm* talking to you. You want to force her to wear that thing again right in front of us? Go ahead. I'd love to see it. I'll call up some rogue friends who still have a blood debt to settle. We can make tonight a lot more interesting."Kaelen had already started moving from the car, but Xavier raised a hand slightly, holding him back.Roman let out a heavy sigh. "Matias.""What? I'm just offering some entertainment." Matias smirked at Xavier. "Or do you only have the guts to make threats when your opponent is a woman you've got on a le

I hadn't slept yet when a car pulled up in front of the clinic. The engine was too quiet, the car too expensive for a place like The Pit. Matias was on his feet before I could even move. Roman vanished toward the back door. Jax and the others took their positions, silent and ready. I pulled back the thin curtain.A black car. Tinted windows. Xavier stepped out. He wasn't wearing a jacket—just a black shirt with the sleeves rolled up. He looked like he had walked straight out of a boardroom meeting and decided to visit the dirtiest part of town. His eyes found mine through the window immediately.Ciel let out a low growl. I opened the door and walked out before anyone could stop me. Xavier approached slowly. Kaelen stayed in the car, but I knew he was watching."You took it off," Xavier said. It wasn't a question."Yes."Matias stepped up behind me. "This is our territory, Beckett. You aren't invited."Xavier ignored him. He was staring at my bare neck. "We have a contract, Ravenna.

I was still holding the second envelope when the clinic’s back door opened.Roman wasn’t alone.Three people followed him inside. I knew two of them immediately: Jax, who still had that scar on his jaw from the Satin Claw, and some short-haired girl who used to work at the same bar. They all just stared at me. There wasn't any warmth or relief there. Just nothing.Jax spoke first. He still had that same raspy voice. "So the rumors are true. You're back."I nodded once. “I’m back.”Matias stood on the other side of the table, arms crossed. He wasn’t defending me, but he hadn’t attacked yet, either. Roman closed the door carefully, then slid the two iron bolts into place. The woman with short hair stared at my bare neck. “They say you wore the Lycan prince’s necklace. They say there was a contract.”I took a breath. “That’s a rumor.”“A rumor too neat to be nonsense,” Jax countered. “People say you switched sides. Took on their scent. Ate out of their hands. Then came back here like no

I turned toward the voice and saw a hooded man beneath a flickering light at the alley's mouth. For a heartbeat, I reached for a weapon I didn't have. Then the man pushed back his hood. Matias. He looked the same yet different; the sharp jaw and restless energy remained, but his gaze had grown hard. Roman stood behind him, silver hair glinting in the dim light, expression unreadable.Neither smiled.Matias’s eyes dropped straight to my bare throat. "So," he said. "You really came.""Yes."He pushed away from the wall. "Then we have a problem."My stomach tightened. "What happened?""Someone came looking for you two hours ago."Roman's expression hardened."Who?""They weren't looking for Ravenna." Matias's eyes stayed on the empty place where the collar had sat. "They were looking for Xavier's Omega."The words landed with more weight than I wanted to admit.I stepped closer. "Did they get inside the clinic?""No," Roman said. His voice was quieter than Matias's, but heavier. "They di
