Chapter 41

"Caius!"

The luna yelled at the top of her voice, calling for her seven-year-old demon child. When no answer came, she turned to his twin whose hands were behind her back, head downcast in apology.

Astra sighed.

"Caia, where is your brother?"

"He's with Boysen and Dew." The girl's voice was low.

"How many times in this week has he used you as a coverup?" Astra placed a hand on her hip.

"He's sorry, mama. He won't do it again."

"He can't do it again. Do you know why? This is the last one, there are no more windows to break. At this point, we'll keep repairing windows every day," Astra palmed her forehead in tiredness soliloquizing in frustration.

Just then, a whiff of the aromatic woody and mushroomy smell of oakmoss infiltrated her nose, accompanied by two other scents, one of roasted coffee and the other was of warm sand mixed with a sweet blooming flower.
