The Call made every hair on my neck rise. I had known from the moment I heard it who it was. I didn’t care how, all that I cared about was that my lungs seemed to burst, as if finally able to breathe again, as if I had been struggling under water all this time.

“Perrin,” I breathed, gasping, coming alive once more.

“Could it really be?” Justin breathed.

“It’s him. I know it.” It was true. I could feel it in my bones.

I fell back into the large leather armchair, breathing heavy with relief, as if I had just run a mile. I had spent the better part of the past few hours here in silence, waiting for Justin to wake up, practically suffocating in this airy room.
