Chapter 5- Forever Bonded

ERYX'S POV

I made my way to the pack hospital, heading straight for the room where my so-called mate was being treated and kept under observation.

The guards stationed at the door greeted me, but I didn't bother to acknowledge them.

It's been two days since the mating ceremony, two days since the rejection and two f**king days since the bond has kept screaming at me that it was alive and doing well.

I scoffed inwardly, my expression cold as I watched her lie on the bed. The steady beeping of the heart monitor filled the room with an IV line running from the back of her hand to a fluid bag hanging beside her bed.

“Pathetic.” I mumbled. “She couldn't endure the pain of a rejection bond and the moon goddess dared to bond her to me.”

“You just have to wake up and let get it over with.”

The door to the room slid open, which made me turn back to see who had the audacity to enter while I was here.

The girl gasped and immediately dropped to her knees as soon as our eyes met.

“Greeting Alpha. I didn't know you were here.” she apologized hastily, her body trembling.

The cold expression on my face didn't leave me once, instead it deepened.

“Just another loser omega.” I muttered loud enough for her to hear.

I saw her fist curl inwardly a little, but she quickly breathed in, releasing her fist.

“Yes Alpha, I'm a loser and worthless omega who is unworthy to behold your presence or even breathe the same air you breath.” she proclaimed, burying her face deeper to the ground.

I rolled my eyes, turning back towards the sleeping omega.

“What do you have with the omegas? Why the unnecessary hate?” Nero— my wolf asked with a grunt.

“You don't need a reason to hate something, do you?” I snarled at it.

“It's not their fault they are omegas. They are living beings also.” Nero answered.

“Unworthy beings.” I replied, then shut him out. Nero argues a lot and despite being my wolf, we disagrees on most things. Not that I cared.

I turned back to the omega, who was still on the ground.

“Why are you here?”

“I'm Elowen my Alpha and I came to check up on my friend.”

“Friend?” I whispered, pressing my lips together before walking away, though not without throwing one last look at Celestia.

“You had better wake up soon, or I will force you up.”

“Friend.” I muttered aloud, as I made my way out of the pack hospital.

“Why? Does it bother you that you don't have anyone to call friend?” Nero taunted.

“Friends are for losers. Besides, if having a friend were that important, I have Lyra.”

Nero snorted, “We both know Lyra doesn't see you as just a friend. And you probably wouldn't have anything to do with her if she weren't always hanging around you.”

“shut up.”

“Eryx!!”

“Speak of the devil.” Nero scoffed Inwardly, recoiling back.

“Eryx, where have you been? I looked everywhere for you.” Lyra sighed as she got to me.

“You found me.” I said.

“The moon goddess has answered. The Seer is waiting at your study to reveal what she had seen.” Lyra announced, beaming with a smile. “You can finally know why the issue is and then move to the next stage of rejecting her again.”

“Took her long enough.” I answered with an eye roll, heading towards my study with Lyra.

“Greetings Alpha.” came the greetings of the elders who were already awaiting my presence. At the far end of the room, just beside my table, the seer stood.

Her hands wrapped around a dry ordinary looking wooden stick that she carries along with her ever since I could remember.

But that wasn't the issue.

“You found the reason for the unfair breaking of the bond?” I asked, settling into my chair.

“Yes, your royal highness.” The seer responded.

I shifted on my seat. “So… you discovered why the bond survived my rejection?”

The seer cleared her throat and stepped forward a little. Her expression changed almost immediately to a serious look.

Serious in a way that made my blood boil before she even spoke.

“Your royal highness.” she began, her voice low, careful, yet hinting at something I felt I wouldn't want to hear.

The tension in the room felt colder as everyone anticipated what she had to say.

“Your mate,” she continued, “according to custom was chosen by mating bond red thread of fate and she has been bonded to you during the Luna Ceremony.” she paused, glancing at me, as if trying to read my expression.

“Though the moon goddess gave every wolf the free will to reject and break the red thread of fate between their partner, you are an exception to that free will, because your mate wasn't chosen by an ordinary mating bond, she was chosen by the moon goddess.”

Bang.

That was the way my head felt, as though it had been hit with a huge iron rod.

Every eye in the room turned to the seer, but none dared to say a word.

I shifted on my chair, this time uncomfortably as I tried to reason what I had just heard. “What do you mean by… I'm an exception to the free will.”

She smiled gently, like she hadn't just said something that weighed heavily on my mind— and that seemed to piss me off.

“It simply means— no rejection, no ritual, no Alpha decree can break the bond. You can't reject her, you can't have a second mate. She is yours… forever.”

Forever.

She is mine.

I froze. My chest tightened even my blood seemed to have run cold as those words pierced through me like blades.

Furious. Rage.

That was what I felt. Pure, unfiltered fury at fate, the Moon Goddess, the elders, and even her. But beneath it all, I felt something I couldn't explain. I was angry with myself because a part of me didn't want to hate her.

But still, I probably heard it all wrong, because there was no way I was going that piece of Joke omega as my Mate and Luna.

I blinked, snapping my head back to the seer with a glare, my chest rising and falling with heavy breaths. “What did you just say?”
