Adrian was driving the car gently on the highway when he noticed a black car next to him.

The man who was in the front seat of the car was profusely sweating as he drove.

He kept turning his head backwards to look at the person in the back seat.

Although Adrian’s car window was firmly closed, blocking any chance of hearing whatever was going on with the two people in the car, when he looked at the woman at the back seat, she was heavily pregnant and from the way it looked, she seemed to be in labor at the moment.

And ahead was a traffic jam that had caused a long line of waiting cars.

Adrian had the chance to take advantage and enter through a small open space and maneuver his way to the front row so he could get going immediately the traffic was over.

But he didn’t go ahead. He pressed on his horn twice to signal the man and call his attention.

“Come on…” Adrian muttered.

And just as he’d planned, the man noticed him, and once he saw the gap that Adrian left open an

Adrian was walking as fast as he could. Although he felt like he’d collapse at any point in time, he wasn’t sure he wanted it to happen on the road here. Only if he could reach Steve’s house first, and maybe then he could try to catch his breath. His steps were as fast as twice a regular human speed despite the strange sensation that’s going on within him. And just before his body could go all out on him and take control from him, he’s already at Steve’s building and he’s inside. “What? How did he enter without us opening the gate?” one of Steve’s guards muttered. He knows who Adrian was, so he didn’t try to confront him. But his shock was that the gate was closed, and it’s made in a way that it’s almost impossible to jump through as it’s way tall. And also, he hadn’t heard any sound if not that he saw Adrian stepping into the building.

For a bit of moment Adrian wasn’t sure of what to say. The reason is because he’s expecting her sudden reaction and also that she was concluding just too fast before he could even speak. “I knew it, that you could not get over her. And for that reason you’re only trying to use me to make her feel jealous—that you’ve found a new woman that’s better. And to be honest you never cared about me,” she said. And even furthermore Adrian was absolutely dumbfounded. He felt like if he’s to say the only word that’s in his mind now, that’s he’d be saying that he wasn’t the one who introduced her as his new woman to Lyra in the first place. And in truth it’s Vivienne who introduced herself to Lyra and made herself look like the new woman in his life. He never complained when she did that, but he wouldn’t want to say such right now. It’d only anger her more, and also he doesn’t even have the

Adrian placed his hand on her head as he pressed it to rest on his chest even more. He could only think about this as the most peaceful moment he’s experienced, as every bit of emotions that came from her heartfelt words struck at his chest with a warmth that made the atmosphere feel calm. “The council has already made their decisions, and I’m sure that Lyra, one way or the other, was able to make that happen.” Still, Vivienne’s voice continued to sound in its rhythmic flow. “Even if I ever lose my company, I know that it’s the only thing my family has as a business that sustains us… but it won’t matter to me at all because I’d still have you. And if you get hurt somehow or they even take you away from me, then I won’t even know what would be of me… I might just turn mad if the mental capacity isn’t capable of handling all the loss at a time. So please, promise you won’t go and threaten the people from t

“Don’t worry, I totally understand what you mean,” Adrian said. “I understand you’re worried about your safety, and you’re right—I shouldn’t have gone to Gabriel with you that made him trace you and come to take you… I’m really sorry for putting you in danger.” Adrian continued in a firm tone, yet something in his voice made him sound deeply sorry. Even though his eyes weren’t showing any emotions as the words he was speaking, something told Vivienne that he meant what he was saying. And she moved closer to him from where she was standing. “Thank you for seeing my point,” she said, her tone sounding thin and fragile, though melodious and carrying a warmth despite its low tempo. “I know that you care about me enough to even try to challenge a whole strong group of powerful men.” “But, you know that all these dangerous people won’t always let something slide…” Vivienne kept taking slow steps closer, as though she was trying to be cautious. For a moment she froze when she

“So, how’s the company functioning?” Adrian asked. He had expected to see her in a frustrating mood, but the expression on her face was something different, something he didn’t quite expect. “About that…” Vivienne said as she finally took her eyes off the Rolls Royce, bashed at the back, that she had been staring at. It just seemed a bit off when Adrian said Steve would get a new one. Even though Steve is known to be rich, it doesn’t mean he should be wasting money to buy a new car, and the fact that Adrian was comfortably saying that felt somehow to her. “I got a report from the council that I’d be meeting them at the general court soon, where they’d decide the fate of my business… and I’m pretty sure that Lyra…” Vivienne paused for a moment, as if to see the reaction on his face when she mentioned that name. “Your ex really wants to take me down at all cos
