“What did you just say?” Daniel couldn’t hold back his disbelief. He almost laughed, confused, as though he hadn’t heard Vivienne correctly.

“You mean this garbage here is your man?” he added, bursting into a mocking laugh that sounded nearly insane.

He bit his finger in frustration, pacing back and forth, his mind spinning, unable to process what he’d just heard.

“My affairs are none of your business, Daniel. And I don’t think you’d want the two of us to clash—not after what happened the last time,” Vivienne said, her face blank and her tone blunt.

Daniel flinched at her words. In the past, he had done everything he could to win Vivienne’s attention, but she’d never spared him a glance. Desperate and entitled, he’d once tried to force himself on her. Though the attempt failed, the scandal was quietly settled between their families. Still, Vivienne had the kind of power and influence that could destroy him if she ever decided to expose what happened. If it were anyone else, it wouldn’

Vivienne stood visibly confused, her heart pounding like a drum.Thoughts raced through her mind at lightning speed, like she was envisioning every possible outcome at once.So this is why Mr. Antony has always gone out of his way to help me—even when I didn’t ask for it, she thought. But she couldn’t wrap her head around why Mr. Antony would have such intentions without ever telling her. It felt like he’d played her like the perfect card, assuming she wouldn’t refuse—for the sake of their long-standing relationship. It had always been a mystery to others how Vivienne had such easy access to Mr. Antony. Some business partners even had to go through her just to get a chance at his favor. Because of Vivienne, they were offered doors otherwise closed.“Dad, what’s the meaning of all this?” Derek laughed nervously, trying to mask the confusion in his voice. He hadn’t seen his father in years, but he knew well—Mr. Antony wasn’t the playful type. Growing up, he never received warmth or affe

They walked in silence for a few moments, led by the security officer, until they arrived at a large room where Mr. Antony himself sat among a few others.Excitedly, Vivienne stepped forward, bowing respectfully. Clara followed immediately behind her.“Vivienne Lancaster,” Mr. Antony greeted, a mischievous smile tugging at his lips. “Welcome to my party. It’s my son’s birthday today, and I personally invited you so you could wish him well.”“It’s an honor, sir. I hope Derek is enjoying his day—I’ll be sure to greet him, I wonder what he’d look like now that’s back from the united state for long time.” Vivienne replied, flashing a bright smile.Mr. Antony laughed warmly. “He’ll be here soon. For now, enjoy yourself. Have anything you want—this is your home too.”Then his eyes fell on Adrian, who stood silently behind the two women.Anyone else standing in Mr. Antony’s house would typically bow immediately in respect. But this young man? He didn’t even flinch. Given his plain attire, he

Adrian’s words only made Daniel burn hotter with rage.“Adrian, shut up!” Clara snapped, her voice sharp and urgent. “Stop making this worse—I’m only trying to help you.”She turned quickly to Daniel, trying to block his view.“Daniel, he hasn’t done anything to you. You’re just looking for a reason to start trouble.”Daniel’s face twisted in disbelief.“Hasn’t done anything?” he echoed, almost laughing. “He disrespected Damian. Spoke to him like they were equals. Trash like him shouldn’t even be in the same room, let alone running his mouth.”He glared at Adrian with disgust.“This is exactly the kind of filth ruining the order in this city. And you,” he spat, pointing at Clara, “are wasting your breath protecting a nobody.”Daniel’s loyalty to Damian was personal—fanatical, even. He wasn’t going to stand by and let someone like Adrian speak down on the man he considered a hero.Clara could see it in his eyes: this wouldn’t end in words. She knew Adrian wasn’t ready for Daniel—this w

“Sure, I’ll come with you,” Lyra said, her voice filled with excitement as she smiled brightly—so brightly it lit up her entire face.Damian was satisfied. He slowly inhaled, pleased.Just then, as Damian turned as if about to walk away, he stopped, slowly turned back, and looked at Adrian.“And as for you, Adrian—next time, you should know your place. You had no business being in the VIP room, and to cause trouble there and run down here… isn’t that a shameful thing to do?” Damian scoffed. “You really should know where you stand. I only told the security to let you go because of Lyra—otherwise, it would’ve looked like I was using my power to punish you.”He smirked, clearly pleased with himself for throwing in one last jab.Adrian sighed, visibly frustrated, but said nothing. He found out after all… he thought. With that, Damian and Lyra walked out.Lyra’s dislike for Adrian only deepened. It’s understandable that he’s a loser, she thought, but not knowing his place? That’s even more

Damian chuckled with a smug, satisfied expression.“I really didn’t expect you to be this immature, Adrian—or whatever your name is,” he added.Adrian was about to speak again when Lyra’s voice cut in before him.“Shut up,” she said, her face cold and tense.“What more do you have to say? Damian is only trying to help your life, yet you still let your stupid pride keep driving you. Are you that foolish?” she snapped, glaring at him.Adrian was stunned. Though Lyra never truly respected him, she had never spoken to him so harshly—not even when her mother or brother tried to influence her. She’s really changed, he thought. But he quickly shrugged off the feeling. Wasn’t she always against me? So what if she still chooses to talk to me formally? It means nothing. He convinced himself to stay calm and expressionless. Then, he smiled. It was a bright, confident smile—like the glint of crystal under light.Damian was momentarily taken aback. What kind of man smiles while being humiliated pu
