Chapter 2

Author: Mizuki Sei
‘No wonder Stefan wanted me out by tonight. He had another woman he wanted to play house with! Hah, to think that I let that man affect my emotions! How I wish I could slap my past self!’

Briar approached Renee with a cocky smirk.

“So you’re Renee Everheart, huh? What are you still doing here? Didn’t Stefan kick you out? Get a move on! Have you no shame?!”

Despite the provocation, Renee continued packing her belongings at her own pace.

“Hey, are you deaf? I’m talking to you here!”

“Sorry, I didn’t quite hear you.” Renee met her gaze calmly.

“All I heard was some crazy bitch barking!”

“How dare you call me a bitch?!”

“I didn’t. Looks like you went ahead and got offended in the first place.” Renee replied as she got up with her luggage. She tilted her head at Briar, who was blocking her path.

“Now, if you’ll excuse me. Nice little doggies should know how to stay out of the way.”

“How dare you!” Briar’s face went bright red as she stomped her feet.

‘Wasn’t she known to be a living punchbag? When did she learn to talk back like that?’

The housekeeper quickly tried to calm Briar with flattery.

“Please calm down, Ms. Desrosiers. You shouldn’t upset yourself over a woman like that!”

“You’ll be the lady of the house soon. That insolent witch is insignificant compared to you…”

“We’ve also arranged a room for you per Master Hunt’s orders. Let me lead the way!”

Briar looked visibly pleased by the flattery. She quickly lost the mood to argue with Renee and proceeded to follow the housekeeper into the villa.

Renee was once again left alone outside. Mixed emotions welled up in her chest as she gazed upon the tall building. It felt ironic that she would return to the streets after four years of living here.

“Goodbye, Stefan.” Renee took a deep breath and left.

Later on, she moved into a small one-bedroom apartment downtown.

She felt liberated as soon as she lost her title as the missus of the Hunt family. She was free to do anything she wanted, and she was no longer the caged bird she used to be.

Renee took her phone out and dialed a number she blocked for four years.

“Boss, you’ve finally remembered that I exist! It’s been four years, you know!” A delighted voice exclaimed on the other end of the line.

This person was none other than Liam Osborne, also known as one of the Four Princes of Beach City. Despite his rebellious and unpredictable nature, he made himself sound like an underling when speaking to Renee.

“I heard about your divorce, by the way. Congratulations! You should've ditched that asshole a long time ago! I’m not sure if you know this, but while you were being Mrs. Punchbag, rumors about you started spreading everywhere! If those old geezers knew that you’re actually the ultimate boss they were looking for all this while, they’d flip their shit! So? Are we doing something big this time? I can…”

“Hold that thought!” Renee was so annoyed by his constant blabbering that she considered blocking him again.

“I promised Grandpa that I won’t go back to that life anymore. If you really do see me as your boss, you better keep this a secret.”

It appears that her past was rather ‘interesting’. However, she wasn’t in the mood to talk about it.

“I called because I want you to help investigate something…”

After talking some more with Liam, Renee hung up the phone, only to receive a text message from Stefan.

Her heart started racing as she tapped her phone screen ever so lightly.

[Beach City Courthouse, 9 am tomorrow.]

Short and simple, as if she didn’t deserve any more than that. The butterflies in her stomach dropped dead in an instant. She realized how foolish she had been for expecting more from this man.

[Ok.] Renee replied, matching his energy.

  • The Untouchable Ex-Wife   Chapter 2795

“I really can’t understand how Stefan could be so heartless. How could he just disappear like that, abandoning his own wife and children? I honestly wonder if he ever loved Ren at all.”Thinking about everything that had happened over the past six months, Leia couldn’t help feeling heartbroken for Renee.“Maybe it’s not because he’s heartless. Maybe he’s just too ashamed to face her.”Liam sighed. As a man himself, he could actually understand what Stefan had done. It was much like how he had left Amber back then and never gone back to look for her.Amber had always held a place in his heart, but he also knew that they would never see each other again. There were too many obstacles between them. Since they could never overcome those obstacles in this lifetime, the only choice was to let go. In that regard, he was no different from Stefan.“Quinton, what do you think? Are we really going to let Ren take the kids on a road trip by herself?” Joanne asked. Like Joanne, Leia was de

Six months later, at the beginning of winter, snow began to fall. The snowflakes were small, landing on their hair and shoulders like tiny, eight-pointed ice crystals.Renee had finally pushed most of Azure Group's projects forward. It was time for her to take a break. She rented an RV and planned to take the kids on a road trip. They would first traverse the Marine Highway into the inland mountains before taking Route 318 straight to Lavendale, one of the most remote places in the world."What? You're taking Adie and Abby on a road trip to Lavendale?"Quinton was the first to object when he heard the idea."Lavendale is a high-altitude region, and the kids are still so young. What if they get altitude sickness? Some of the roads are difficult to drive on, too. What if you run into a blizzard? And even if you manage to avoid one, what if you encounter wild wolves or bears? The consequences could be disastrous!"Listening to Quinton list all the risks, Renee simply smiled. "So wh

Three days later, Francine held a press conference and publicly revealed the truth about how she had kidnapped Quinton all those years ago.At long last, Quinton was able to reclaim the life that had always belonged to him.The Great Eight of Beach City officially recognized Quinton as a member of the Everheart family and welcomed him into their affairs as well as strategic alliances. When Austin heard the news, he personally traveled to Beach City despite the inconveniences that came with old age to congratulate Renee and Quinton. He declared that the Baldwin family and the Everheart family would remain friends and allies for generations to come."Quinton, seeing you makes it feel like I'm looking at Maurice himself!"Holding Quinton's hand, Austin looked him over repeatedly. Tears streamed down his face. He was just as emotional as Timothy had been the first time he met Quinton.Austin had also brought numerous priceless treasures to celebrate Quinton's return to the Everheart

"What are you planning to do next?" Joanne looked at Renee warily before asking. "W-Will you give this relationship another shot?"There was silence.Renee's hands stopped moving. Her gaze drifted into the distance as she thought for a long moment before gently shaking her head. "No.""But you two clearly love each other. All the grudges and misunderstandings have been resolved. Why can't you have a happy ending?"Joanne's voice carried a stubborn longing.Despite having gone through so much pain herself, she still held onto the belief that everyone could have a happy ending just like in fairy tales. In a fairy tale, the prince and princess always overcome every obstacle and end up together."This is a happy ending. He's doing well, I'm doing well, and the children are doing well. We're simply no longer together as husband and wife. So what? Marriage isn't the only meaningful relationship in this world," Renee said calmly as she resumed shaping the clay in her hands. Her movem

The argument between Quinton and Joanne only grew more heated. There was tension in the air.Renee was worried Joanne might have another episode, and she was equally afraid Quinton might get hurt. Left with no other choice, she quickly raised a hand to stop them."Alright, alright, stop arguing. I'll do it. I'll make it, okay?"They had gotten into such a fierce fight over whether or not to sculpt Stefan. It seemed the only person who could end the conflict was her.Picking up a lump of clay, Renee began shaping it seriously. "You two should go get some rest. It's getting late anyway. I'll make his sculpture. Nothing can make me forget how he looks. I can sculpt him in no time."Since Renee offered to compromise, Joanne and Quinton finally stopped arguing, but neither of them had let go of their anger. The way they looked at each other made it seem like they wanted to tear the other to pieces."It's fine, Ren. I'll stay with you. Being with you is as good as resting. It's not l

Adie's request instantly made the atmosphere in the room awkward.Quinton and Joanne both lowered their heads and pretended to be busy.Renee was unsure whether she should agree or refuse. She froze in silence.Only Abby remained full of excitement and looked at Renee expectantly. "Mommy, please make him! We don't know what happened to Daddy. He hasn't come to play with us these past few days. If this keeps going, Adie and I might forget what he even looks like."Children always spoke from the heart. They wanted Renee to sculpt Stefan simply because they wanted the clay figure to resemble him as closely as possible. There was nothing wrong with that. But from Renee's perspective, things between her and Stefan had deteriorated far too much. Being asked to sculpt the man herself would only reopen her wounds.Seeing Renee remain silent, Adie looked disappointed, but he still nodded in an understanding manner."It's okay if you don't want to make him, Mommy. We never really had a

"Hmm..." Mr. Q hummed with a regretful expression on his face. "It's a pity my face is disfigured. I have a long scar, that's why I don't take off my mask. Aiden stroked his chin and furrowed his brows as he seriously contemplated the matter for a while, looking just like a tiny grown-up. When he was done thinking, he tiptoed and held out a hand for Mr. Q to shake, solemnly telling him, "Since you're repentant of your mistakes, then we can be friends.
