KIRA’S POV

“Instead of pointing guns, maybe you should focus on controlling your wife, Azrael,” Fabrizio sneered, his eyes drilling into me. “She was the one throwing herself at me. Knowing you, I’d think you’d warn her about men like me. So, let’s not pretend I’m the one to blame here.”

My heart dropped. “No… I didn’t—he’s lying.” I stammered, glancing at Adrian, his expression was frigid and unreadable. My gaze flicked to Paulo, standing nearby, his face barely masking the storm brewing beneath.

The man Adrian had called Caruso earlier, spoke up, his voice as icy as the atmosphere around us. “Let Mancini go, and we’ll release your girl. There’s no need to turn your inauguration into a bloodbath.”

Adrian released Fabrizio’s collar, sending him stumbling backward. Everyone still had their guns up and that just made the sickening feeling in my stomach grow with each passing second.

Almost immediately, Romano pushed from between the crowd, making his way to me, “Did he harm you in any

Kira’s POVBoom. The plates scattered.Food exploded across the table and floor, pasta and soup flying in all directions, sauce painting the walls. A bit of it splashed on me. I turned to Gia, startled. Everyone recoiled instinctively, a ripple of shock moving through the room.I shifted my chair back quickly, trying to brush off a few stray strands of spaghetti that clung to my dress. Then I looked up to find the source of the gunshot, and the loud crack still echoed in the silence. My eyes landed on the man seated on Hugo's right. He had a long, jagged scar that ran from the arch of his eyebrow down to the edge of his nose, giving him a sharp, brutal edge. He was clad in a tailored suit, now standing with a gun in his hand. And he had just shot a plate of spaghetti, without caring that any of us could have ended up as collateral damage.“What the fuck, Enzo?” Romeo barked beside me.Enzo didn’t respond to him; his eyes focused solely on Adrian. “Grandfather’s talking to you, Adrian,

Kira’s POV“Don’t you think this is too much?” I asked, watching as Aunty Linda applied the finishing touches to my hair.“It’s just dinner. Nothing important,” I added, staring at the dress I was wearing. It was a simple brown gown with blue highlights, hugging all my curves lightly.“No, don’t be silly, dear. This is your first dinner with his entire family. It is essential,” she concluded.I let out a deep sigh and stared back at my reflection in the mirror. I looked good, really good—but I didn’t want to do this. An hour after we arrived at the mansion, Adrian had left without much of a word. Not that he had been saying much to me since finding out what happened with Romano. He wasn’t exactly ignoring me, but his replies had grown short and evasive. And maybe pestering him about Nina… his ex, now turned stepmother… wasn't the best idea either. He stormed out after our conversation, and I stayed back in our room, unpacking my bags since then.I was avoiding his family. But I knew I

  • The Untypical Marriage   Chapter 98

ADRIAN'S POVI paused on the pedestal, staring at Paulo’s grand mansion. An ugly scowl twisted my face.Even in fucking death, my father was still fucking with me.A dark, eerie feeling came over me as I looked at the place. I didn’t want to go in, I didn’t want to be anywhere near my father or his property. On Hugo’s orders, Gianna had moved out and taken her armada of workers with her. My father’s precious house now stood empty.Fucking pathetic! My phone buzzed beside me, dragging me back to the moment. Dave. Right. What he found.I pushed open the heavy doors. They groaned like the house itself didn’t want me here.I stepped inside. Echoes. Dust. Emptiness.I took the hidden elevator down to Paulo’s underground office. My father had been a crook through and through. Despite the codes our ancestors built into the Costra, Paulo rarely followed any of them. He ran shady dealings, took part in underground trafficking auctions, and even hosted perverse kinkyorgies he probably thought I

  • The Untypical Marriage   Chapter 97

ADRIAN'S POV Nina was my fucking ex-fiancée.I still couldn’t believe that cheap slut had found her way to Hugo after leaving me for Paulo. She was the only woman I’d ever actually been intentional about. I never loved her or any shit like that, but she was tolerable. I figured maybe… maybe—with time, I’d grow a heart and it might learn to love her or some romantic shit like that. But all of that went to hell when I caught her two days after I proposed, fucking Paulo. What the hell does she want from Hugo? How the fuck did she end up with him? What kind of twisted game are they playing? My head was pounding with questions.Fuck love. Fuck Hugo. Fuck Nina.I knew exactly what Hugo was doing. His schemes were as transparent as ever. He wanted to get under my skin by bringing Nina into this mess, thinking I was still in love with her or ever gave a damn in the first place.Well, he was in for a fucking surprise.I could still see the shock in Kira’s eyes when I told her Nina was my ex-

  • The Untypical Marriage   Chapter 96

KIRA'S POV I glanced at Adrian to see his reaction after spotting Dylan and Kayla. As expected, his face was unreadable, cold, and indifferent. What was I honestly expecting? He probably had no idea how much of a mess this really was.God, I wished he would just turn to me and say this was all some ridiculous joke, that we weren’t actually going to live with those two. There was also this nagging voice in my head wondering if Dylan would bring his fling, Gia, into the house… assuming they were still together.Ugh, not my business, I reminded myself.“Shall we?” Adrian said, offering his elbow to me.Forcing a gentle smile, I slipped my hand into the crook of his arm, and we began walking.Just as we were about to walk past them, Dylan's annoying voice stopped us abruptly, they were obviously waiting for us.“Hey brother,” Dylan said as he sucked in some air.I raised my brows quizzically and glanced at Adrian waiting for his reply but he stared blankly at Dylan before continuing walk

  • The Untypical Marriage   Chapter 95

KIRA'S POV I still couldn't believe Romano lied to me. All this while, I had thought of him as the most loyal and trustworthy among all the men Adrian had. I guess I was wrong, I guess I was a fool and a gullible person for believing him, for entrusting him with some of my inner thoughts. And other things.Oh God!What I feel right now couldn't be compared to what Adrain felt, even though he didn't show it, I could tell he was hurt and disappointed. That jerk! What if I weren't a nosy person and hadn't pestered him that day when he took me to the restaurant? But Romano is so genuine, it's so hard to think of him as a snake… like Adrian would put it. I was too blinded by curiosity to know everything and how he started working for Adrian. Sighing exasperatedly, I glanced at the clock, it was almost noon and there was no sign of Adrian. I had called his number multiple times but it kept saying the same thing.“Your call is being directed to voicemail, kindly drop…” before the comput
