The Unwanted Bride
Author: Angela Lynn Carver

Prologue

Noah Smith looked at the man who sat in front of him, staring at him intently. He looked like he could be his father's age, or younger. Despite his age, the man barely had any grey hair and was extremely handsome. But at the same time, he looked intimidating. He was wearing a perfectly tailored suit and sported a 5 o clock shadow on his face. His eyes were an intense shade of blue.

Those eyes...Noah felt like they were burning a hole in his skull.

He had two large men standing behind him as if to guard him. He must be someone important, Noah thought.

"So you are Noah Smith?" the man asked.

"Yes sir," he replied.

"Hmm...I don't see what's so special about you. You just seem like an ordinary young man," the man remarked.

Excuse me? Who does this man think he is?

"Um, sir. May I know why I was brought here?" Noah looked at the man curiously. He was studying for his BAR exam at the coffee shop, minding his own business then all of a sudden, two large men came in and demanded that he left with them. He thought about protesting but then spotted the guns tucked inside their belt and decided against it. He quietly got into the car with them. They brought him to this large company building that he had seen many times before.

"Do you remember my daughter Serena, Mr. Smith?" the man raised his eyebrows. His eyes were suddenly cold and harsh. Shit...did I do something to his daughter? Noah thought. He wasn't a playboy or anything so that should hardly be the case.

"Uh...your daughter?" he asked.

"Yes, my daughter Serena. Here's a picture to refresh your memory," the man took a picture frame off of his desk and handed it to Noah.

Noah looked at the picture and his eyes turned wide. Of course! How could he forget her? She was different than any other girl he had ever met. Wild, untamed, and completely crazy. Not to mention amazingly beautiful! This man is her father? No wonder they had the same eyes!

"Yes I, I've met her," Noah said. He was still confused about why he was here. Did Serena tell her father about him? Why would she do that?

The man cleared his throat. "Let me formally introduce myself to you. I am Alexander Wolf. The CEO of this company. Does my name mean anything to you?" he asked.

Noah hesitated. He had heard Alexander Wolf's name before. The man wasn't exactly off the radar. He was a known and powerful man. People feared him. There were rumors that he was in the Mafia. Noah wasn't sure if that was true or not but he sure seemed scary!

"Well?" Alexander asked again.

"Y..yes, sir. I've heard of your name. What exactly is going on here?" Noah asked.

"Well you see, Serena is my only daughter. I love her very much, more than my life itself. I'll do anything to make her happy," Alexander said and looked at Noah.

The intensity of his gaze made Noah shiver. Where was this conversation going?

"And I will eliminate anyone that would dare to hurt my daughter," Alexander Wolf declared.

"Mr. Wolf, I've only met Serena once. So I have no idea why you brought me here to tell me that. I didn't do anything to her," Noah said quickly.

Alexander stood up abruptly and strode over to him. His somewhat calm demeanor changed to anger in a matter of seconds. Noah's heart started to race. What did he get himself into?

Alexander gripped his shoulder and stared into his eyes. "Are you sure you haven't done anything wrong, Noah? Are you telling me that you forgot about your little one night stand with her?" he said, gritting his teeth.

Oh shit, what the fuck...how does he know about that? Noah thought. That was something he did in a moment of passion.

"Um...sir, I don't know how you know this but I apologize if it offended you. We are both adults and were having fun. That's it," Noah said.

Alexander smirked. "Oh don't worry, I am not offended. My daughter is an adult and she can do whatever she wants."

Oh? Then why am I here? Noah wondered in his mind.

"I am sure you are curious about why I brought you here aren't you?" Alexander asked.

"Yes," Noah said quietly.

"You see Noah Smith, Serena is very special to me. I gave her everything she had ever wanted in life. New toys, dresses, everything," Alexander paused.

What does that have to do with me? Noah thought.

"So when she made this one special request to me, I couldn't refuse," he continued.

"And what would that be?" Noah looked at him curiously.

"You. She wants you, Noah," Alexander leaned closer to Noah's face. "Congratulations Noah Smith, you are now engaged to be her husband and my future son in law," he announced and grinned.

WHAT THE FU...! Noah's inner thought screamed.
