ELIJAH’S POV:

The air between us stilled. The noise of children playing in the distance only made her words louder in my head. I wanted to reach for her, but my hands felt heavy and I didn’t want to ever touch without her consent and command.

“I’m different now,” I told her after a moment, desperate to fill the silence. “I don’t drink anymore.”

She didn’t respond, and I hated that my honesty didn’t matter to her. I took a step closer. “Hannah, I meant what I said last night. I missed seven years of my children’s lives. I don’t want to waste another minute. I want to be part of this family please. Move in with me. You and the twins.”

She blinked at me, disbelief flickering in her eyes before it hardened into anger. “Move in with you?”

“Yes,” I said, trying to sound calm, logical. “You’ll be safe. The kids will have both parents. We don’t have to pretend anymore. We can start over.”

She laughed quietly, bitterly. “Start over? With the man who forced himself on me, treated me like a stra

HANNAH’S POV:He sat down beside me, water still glistening down his shoulders as the twins’ laughter echoed from the pool. He wiped his neck with a towel and nodded toward them. “They’ve been at it for almost two hours,” he said with a low chuckle.“Yeah,” I murmured, unable to stop the small smile that crept to my lips. “They’re going to sleep like rocks tonight.”He leaned back, stretching one arm over the chair beside him, looking relaxed in a way I hadn’t seen for a long time. “I wanted to talk to you about something,” he said, voice calm, even. “It’s about the twins.”My shoulders tensed slightly, instinctively wary. “What about them?”He pulled his iPad closer and tapped it awake. “School.”He scrolled through a few options before turning the screen toward me. “I’ve been looking into good ones. Thought you’d want to decide together.”I stared at the glowing screen. The photos were bright and happy—children in colorful uniforms, classrooms filled with books, teachers kneeling be

HANNAH’S POV:DAYS LATER:“Maya did what?” I was seated by the bleachers at the poolside and I was on a video call with both Maya and Lucas. We had all been so busy with work and he had travelled to Stel, another country a three hours flight from here and it was basically for new business he was looking to work with and also to promote our business all over the world. Our marketing officer had also tagged along taking with her some of the collection and I was proud to see her wear some of it as well. They were going to be there for about a week. I had smiled when Lucas sent me a photo of one of the locals reading my book from the collections, I was international in every regard. I had worked so hard on everything which is why we were thriving and doing fantastically well. After the party with Roman, many investors and tycoons had even reached out to me before I did and it made me so happy. So since we had all been busy, this was the first time Lucas was hearing about the fight. An

  • The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back)   Not Tonight

HANNAH’S POV:Her words struck deep, not just at Jacob but at all of us. At me.Because a part of me, somewhere deep down, understood her pain—the humiliation, the heartbreak, the helplessness of giving yourself to someone only to be left broken and blamed.Cherry suddenly turned and stormed toward the door, tears spilling freely. “I can’t do this,” she muttered, her voice trembling. “I can’t look at either of you right now.”“Cherry, please,” Jacob pleaded, following her, but she shoved past him, grabbing her purse and keys before slamming the door shut behind her.The echo of the door closing felt like a final punctuation mark to the night’s madness.Maya wiped her eyes and gave a bitter laugh. “Well,” she said, voice trembling. “I guess I did what I came to do.”Jacob’s voice broke as he said, “Maya, you’ve ruined everything.”“No,” she whispered, her expression hollow. “I just told the truth.”And with that, she turned and walked out—her heels clicking against the marble, the soun

  • The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back)   When Secrets Walk In

HANNAH’S POV:I could feel Elijah’s presence behind me, tense and silent as soon as I reached the ground floor. He didn’t move, but I sensed his confusion, his guard slowly rising as Maya’s erratic energy filled the room.“Maya, let’s talk outside,” Jacob said firmly this time, his tone edged with warning. “Now’s not the time or the place.”“The time or the place?” she repeated mockingly. “You mean like how it wasn’t the time or the place when you showed up at my apartment and—”“Maya, stop!” Jacob snapped, stepping forward, his voice low but cutting. That only seemed to fuel her anger. Her wet hair clung to her cheeks as she pointed a trembling finger at him. “No, I’m done with every single person. You get to walk around pretending you’re the perfect man and husband, ‘a role model’ when in reality, you’re just as filthy as the rest of them.”Cherry’s confusion deepened, her eyes darting between them. “Jacob, what is she talking about?” she asked, her voice cracking.Jacob’s lips part

HANNAH’S POV:THAT SAME NIGHT:“It’s almost midnight, Hannah, and I was trying to call you because an hour ago when I was just checking up on the kids, I noticed Amelia was burning up…..” He informed me and my eyes went wide, instantly sobering up.“What? Where is she?” I asked raising my voice walking in the direction of the stairs but not only did he stop me but I was surprised seeing his friend, Jacob and Cherry heading down the stairs.“She's asleep now. I had our family doctor cone check her up, and he informed that it was as a result of the medicine and her condition. She's okay…” He spoke reassuringly and walked towards me and embraced me as I was just standing dumbfounded. Being in his arms felt weirdly comforting and he smelt so good, I wanted to hold him tightly and sniffle, and question why I decided to go out knowing Amelia’s condition. It was as though he could read my mind because his next words were, “It is not your fault. You deserve to have a nice night out…..I’m sor

  • The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back)   Midnight and His Eyes

HANNAH’S POV:“Biggest gossip in finance. He’ll know your shoe size before you get home. Plus his wife is a journalist, so they are both rarely invited for occasions like this. The last time they were invited, an affair scandal was published as a CEO was caught in the bathroom with his mistress while his wife was in the same event. It was a lot.” I burst out laughing, earning a few curious stares. Roman grinned, clearly enjoying himself. For the first time in a while, I actually relaxed and he was right with every single thing he had promised on how tonight would turn out.We headed to the buffet, got food and we served with this smooth red wine. It was one of the best I had ever had. As we ate, the old CEO spoke about his company and one of the things he mentioned that stuck with me, was the importance of not just having financial partners but also a life partner and the entire room had smiles on their face, and cooed with ‘Awww’ as he praised his wife for being by his side and bei
