Dante's POV

After our conversation about Kerion, I'd become a little withdrawn. I couldn't help it. It has opened some deep-seated wounds that I thought had healed.

Christopher had noticed but didn't say anything and just held me.

This morning, he'd gone off to his classes, and he had classes till later in the day. Do I have him the day off work, so he wasn't coming here? He'd go home straight from classes.

I'd be seeing him in two days since he actively had classes for the next two days.

That'd also help to keep my head together so I didn't slip into melancholy.

Vampires didn't suffer normal illnesses but we did suffer melancholy and loneliness. That was why we lived in covens. We needed the company of people who were exactly like us so we didn't slip into melancholy.

The older we got the more prone we were. I'd lived years without slipping because I gave myself a purpose. I worked through any negative emotions I felt. I never let them stew. That was how I overcame it.
