Big Bad Wolf

The garden was huge, big enough for her to pretend to be lost while everyone looked for her until she was found.

But Hurai was sure that the second she grew taller and bigger, she would no longer be able to use her secret passage anymore.

Another reason why she ran even faster than before through the garden, not caring if the pins in her hair fell off or not. Since the second Allen sniffed her out, it was game over.

She ran as fast as she could through the garden-like- maze, only choosing to take a break the second she got to her destination in front of her secret wall when she unexpectedly heard Allen's voice in the garden.

"Hurai…I know you're here," he yelled,

Loud enough for her to realize the precariousness of her situation.

As quickly as she could, she began to remove the bricks in the walls, conscious of the fact that she also had to replace the bricks on the other side in order not to get caught.

"Hurai…are we doing this today? I brought a present for you," Allen said as he continued talking, while zoning in on her location.

But Hurai already knew that.

She not only didn't answer but by the time Allen was done talking she was already on the other side of the wall, running into the forest the second she was done replacing the bricks back in the wall.

The garden was huge and she was sure that when Allen finally figured out where she was, after hiding one of her handkerchiefs with her scent in the rose bushes, she would have been long gone.

Hurai dashed straight into the forest, especially glad that the coast was clear and all the assigned guards had been successfully distracted by the rumor she spread, of an urgent guard meeting.

In no time at all with her hair down and pointing in different directions, as she patted it down removing the hairpins sticking out of it as she ran deeper into the forest.

Just because she had been able to escape didn't mean that time was suddenly on her side since the moment Allen didn't find her, his next instinct would be to check the forest that bordered their kingdom and that of Blodinek, the kingdom belonging to their sworn enemies the vampires.

Just when she decided to lean on a tree and take a short break and enjoy the scenery around her, which she had only been able to admire from afar since the day she was born, Hurai suddenly heard the loud and sharp sound of a branch splitting into two.

Even though she was only eight, as a member of the royal family her eyes and ears were already sharper than even normal werewolf adults, which was why Hurai was sure that the sound was made by a human and not a mere squirrel.

"Allen…stop playing with me," she instantly yelled, the second she heard it. Hurai was absolutely sure of her safety since the forest side of the palace was completely banned and forbidden for anyone that wasn't royalty. So the only person she could think of who could have followed her was her Knight-in- waiting who knew exactly what she was capable of.

"Stop playing with me, Allen…I'm not going back anytime soon," Hurai continued speaking after several moments of deep-seated silence without getting a response.

At that point, Hurai couldn't help but begin to doubt the sounds she had heard and was just about to turn around and walk towards the palace while waiting for Allen to show himself when she suddenly saw a werewolf, with a completely black coat.

She was instantly alarmed the second she saw it since she knew what it meant, instantly doing her best to pretend otherwise.

"A rogue..." the thought frightfully flashed in her mind,

At the same time thoughts of fleeing as fast as she could popped into her, with her wiping it off as she watched the wolf close the distance between them in a blink of an eye.

She might be a royal but she was still too young to be strong enough and be anything more than a child.

Still, she stood staring at the werewolf not taking her eyes off it for even a second, as composed as she could pretend to be while thinking of ways to stall, long enough for her stupid Knight-in-waiting to arrive.

"What do you want?" Hurai asked in a clear voice that didn't show the huge amount of fear she felt, even though she almost felt it was useless since she was sure that the werewolf could definitely hear the loud racing of her heart, as it stood about six steps away, staring at her with equally focused eyes.

But things didn't at all seem to be going her way since while she had been waiting to hear its voice in her head, and the reply to her question, she instead got something she didn't in any way bargain for.

With the werewolf choosing that exact moment to morph back into its human form. At first, Hurai wondered what was happening as she looked on in slight confusion but the clear sound of breaking bones was enough for her to gasp out loud as she watched the wolf writhe in pain.

Normally, seeing the chance she had been waiting for, Hurai would have taken it and dashed out of there the second she watched him begin to morph back into his human form. But, the shock of watching such an excruciatingly painful process had her frozen in the spot.

The werewolf transformation was a tightly woven secret among werewolves that wasn't spoken of until they were twenty and their bodies were ready to do so, which was why Hurai knew nothing about it.

"is…is it always this painful?" Hurai found herself stammering out, while staring at nothing more but the face of the wolf of now naked wolf in front of her.
