Bringing It Forward

“What? What else do you want?” Darun seethed in anger, no longer seeing any reason to hide it.

“Isn’t yours next year?” Geran asked mostly out of plain curiosity since he thought that only his twin sister's ceremony was coming up.

“I’m bringing it forward, apparently I’ll be joining the war,” Darun replied, feeling a bitter taste in his mouth at the mention of war.

“Isn’t that dangerous?” Geran asked with a highly concerned look on his face when he said it.

He knew that there were rules and from the annoyed look on Darun’s face, he felt that the decision about bringing it forward was most likely not made by him.

Geran’s question though and the look of concern on his face only served to piss Darun off the most.

“If I didn’t know better I’d think that he cared about me,” Darun thought, his face squeezing up into a deep frown.

“I’ll be fine. I’ll fulfill my promise after that,” Darun said, looking up to meet Geran’s eyes as he spoke.
