Khan returned me to the hospital and I got out of his car. I was too perplexed to speak to him. What he said to me was way too shocking for me to comprehend. I almost got into my locker room when Mirabel walked toward me with a frown on her face. She was Liam’s mom. I was sure he had told her about the breakup. I dropped my gaze, looking at the white marble floor.

“You know what you did right?” She asked. I did not give a response.

“I suggested that we fire you but he insisted that he wants you to stay here. Liam really cares about you, you must be stupid to have let him go. He would do anything for you.” She shook her head before walking away, exuding disappointment.

I closed my eyes and sighed.

How am I supposed to explain to her that I did this because of him? I broke up because he was a good guy and he deserved better. My heart was in a mess.
