Chapter 3

Author: Washing Wheat
How had I never noticed before? This man was actually quite cute when he was embarrassed.

I noticed Adrian's collar was messy and reached out to fix it for him.

"Do not touch me." A low, cold warning sounded above my head.

It was fierce.

I froze, then remembered the comments arguing earlier.

Right. For the past three years, I had never given Adrian a pleasant expression. Lila, on the other hand, had been like a little sun, always warmly encouraging him to walk out of his shadows.

It was normal for Adrian to hate me.

I gave a self-mocking smile and withdrew my hand. "Close the door on your way out. I am going to sleep."

The man closed the door, but he did not leave. Instead, he walked toward me step by step.

His heated breathing grew clearer, and his eyes were red from restraint.

I finally realized something was wrong. "Adrian, what is wrong? Do you have a fever?"

The comments said:

"More accurately, he is in heat. No, seriously, second male lead, are you loving her too much? The villainess only teased you because she was bored, and you got so happy you pushed your rut forward."

"Rut?" I murmured.

We had been married for three years. How had I never known Adrian had a rut?

"The villainess is dumb too. She really thought the second male lead was pure and desireless? Please, he is an incubus. And your body is that good, your face is number one in the book. He just cannot bear to force you."

"During his previous ruts, Adrian would secretly take one of your intimate garments and hide somewhere in advance so you would not see him."

"That reminds me. Those clothes were pitiful too. They were nearly worn through by the second male lead's extraordinary gifts..."

I stared blankly at the rolling comments, as if the whole screen had turned into censorship blocks.

So he had told me not to touch him because of his rut?

Adrian buried his face in the hollow of my neck, rubbing against me helplessly.

A flush spread over his pale skin, staining him with desire and softening his usual distant coldness.

Before, I had been completely focused on dealing with Lila and trying to win Zach back. I had never looked at Adrian properly.

I had no idea this man was this good-looking.

His features were more refined than any celebrity on television.

"The drawer in the study... has medicine and syringes. Go get them..." Adrian's voice came in broken pieces as he tried helplessly to hide the markings and scales gradually appearing on his body.

I looked at him restraining himself to the limit, at his lip bitten bloody, at the sweat-soaked shirt clinging to his body and outlining abdominal lines that made the blood rush.

Then I changed my mind.

I had spent three years alone in this marriage. Although my urges were not as strong as an incubus', I was still a normal person.

The first clause of the marriage contract, written by me, was: no feelings, only money, and absolutely no taking advantage of someone in a vulnerable state.

But I was the morally bankrupt vicious supporting woman. Why should I care about integrity?

After thinking it through, I patted his face lightly and whispered, "Adrian, remember to be gentle."

"Do not touch me. I am dirty..." Adrian trembled all over because of my touch, but still clung to his last bottom line.

"But I want you."

I dropped the robe, wiped the blood from his lip with my fingertip, rose on tiptoe, and kissed him.

The comments exploded.

"What is happening? The villainess actually made the first move."

"That face pat. Ahhh, she is too seductive. Sister, do you need a dog?"

"Love mixed with hate is trash. Love born from hatred is art."

"My heart is racing, my hands are shaking. Are our villain couple finally going to make hate-love happen?"

"Okay, go ahead."Adrian massaged my ankles, sore after a whole day in heels, with a faint smile."Am I your first love?""Yes.""When did you fall in love with me?""At thirteen. Maybe even earlier. Back then, I revealed the same incubus form as my mother and my family discovered it. They fed me medicine, electrocuted me, and made me wear all kinds of strange clothes to cover it up. At school, only you were willing to come near me..."I was a little surprised."I remember now. You were that little boy from Class Ten next door. You never spoke, so I thought you were a mute who loved cosplay. As the discipline committee member, of course I had to take extra care of you. But since you liked me, why did you not pursue me?""There were many outstanding people around you. I did not want to delay you..."I said, "Next question. When was the last time you lied?""Just now."Adrian's hand followed my ankle upward, obsessively stroking my skin inch by inch."The real answer to that

"Did you not know those things were wrong? Yet you still did them. If Vivian were truly vicious, she should have spread all of this everywhere instead of merely clashing with you over small matters.""Lila, before judging others, why not first see whether you are truly a pure blank sheet of paper? Before demanding an apology, see whether your own conscience is clear."Lila was rendered speechless. After a long while, she answered guiltily."The one who is not loved is the third party. Vivian only lost an engagement and the inheritance rights to the Stone family fortune, but I almost lost love."The comments and the surrounding crowd could not help laughing.Even Zach and my parents could not agree with Lila's twisted argument. They could not even defend her."Also, Vivian just said you may retaliate against her. But my suggestion is that you had better not. Of course, anyone who is not afraid of death may try. I hope everyone enjoys tonight's gala. Sorry, Vivian's dress is dirty

"Mr. Blackthorne, you... you are Vivian's husband?"Lila staggered to her feet, looking between me and Adrian in disbelief. The comments:"It is coming. It is coming. The famous identity reveal scene is here. Lila never knew Adrian's real identity before. She gave the second male lead quite a lot of warmth like a little sun. In his heart, she might not be less important than the villainess.""By warmth, do you mean when Lila mistook Adrian for a poor man and spilled a cup of hot milk all over him? Fine, that was warm in the physical sense.""Sometimes I really feel the heroine is kind of manipulative. With all those luxury items on the second male lead, how does he look like someone who cannot afford food? Yet all the men in this book fall for her act. Sigh."Zach looked confused. "Lila, you know Adrian Blackthorne?"Lila nodded, looking even more pitiful."I never thought someone as good as Mr. Blackthorne would be with...""With a girl like me, right?" I coldly finished for

Lila, who usually went around bare-faced, had put on a gown and heels this time. She still looked timid and out of place among the crowd. My mother affectionately fixed her bangs. When Lila saw me, she immediately hugged my mother's arm."Mom, look. Vivian is here too."I wondered if I had heard wrong. "What did you call my mother?""Yes, Vivian. You do not know yet, but I have already acknowledged Mrs. Stone as my godmother. There were some misunderstandings and unpleasant things between us before, but it is all right. From now on, we are family."My father looked pleased. "Lila is a generous child who understands family. Unlike Vivian, who grew up with her grandparents and turned rebellious, never really close to us.""Vivian, this is Zach's and my engagement invitation. After thinking about it, I felt I should give it to you personally.""Who is your sister?" I took the invitation and tossed it straight into the trash."Vivian, that is too much." My father gave me a stern l

The scene before me gradually blurred. He kissed away the tears at the corners of my eyes and whispered with guilt."I am sorry. I still dirtied you..."I weakly pushed at his chest, forced to endure again and again."Adrian, stop. It is too hot... There, not there...""Be good, Vivian. Call me a few more times. It will be over soon."I obediently said in a soft voice, "Adrian, husband, my dear.""Good girl..."Liar. Big liar. What kind of "soon" means three hours later? The comments:"I paid for a membership for this broken novel. What is there that I, a noble paying member, cannot see?""Damn. The crazy male lead and heroine are torturing each other to death in the main storyline and I feel nothing, maybe even want to laugh. But the villain couple kissing makes me cry from sweetness.""Who understands? This is so good. Adrian's inferiority complex makes him think he has tainted his unforgettable first love, so the guilt is maxed out, but his physical desire keeps him from

This was not the first time I had seen similar comments, and my heart lurched.Luckily, Adrian's sweet-and-sour fish was ready then.I happily ate several big bites and looked at the man sitting upright beside me."Last time, when Lila and I both fell into the sea and I had a fever of 104 degrees, the bowl of sweet-and-sour fish the housekeeper brought me was actually made by you, right?""No," Adrian reminded me. "Do not talk while eating."Unfortunately, the word obedient did not exist in my dictionary. I pressed on."Were the bad comments also deleted by you? Someone said I am your unforgettable first love. When exactly did you start liking me? Did we know each other before?""Vivian..."It was the first time Adrian had called my name.I pursed my lips. "Fine. If you say it was not you, then it was not you. I am full. I am going to call Zach and ask if he got home safely."I left the table and pretended to pick up my phone to dial.Suddenly, the sound of a knife falling t
