Chapter 55

By the time everyone was done speaking, the sun was at the point where it looked like it was resting on the edge of the lake. Six dragon warriors carried his body to a wooden raft that was full of flowers where two mermen waited in the water. Once his body was gently lowered to the raft, the warriors bowed their heads and walked back to Queen Chumani’s side. The mermen bowed to the queen and lowered themselves underwater. Soon, King Uther’s body was floated into the rising sun. When it was a safe distance away, a dragon warrior shifted into his dragon and set fire to the raft. The mermen swam away and I sighed as I snuggled closer to my mate. Sebastian kissed the top of my head as a tear fell from my eye. Selene turned to all of us, “This concludes King Uther’s sending off,” then she disappeared.

When we got back to the castle, we all walked to the dining hall for breakfast. We sat at the king’s table and ate in silence as we each reflected on the funeral in our own way. Queen Chumani
