Chapter Fifteen.
The Warrior’s Bride
“Fareeda, sometimes things do not happen as planned. I know it is early for a baby, but it is a blessing.” Alexander said to Fareeda, he knew she was not so excited about having a child.
“But I am too young. I do not know anything about children. I also heard childbirth is very tiring.” Fareeda continued as she prepared lunch.
“I will be here with you every step of the way. You do not need to worry about anything my love. We will take care of the baby together.” Alexander said, he knew she was scared at most. He knew the older women always told horrific stories about childbirth.
“I love you.” Fareeda said, walking into his arms. She was very happy to have this man in her life.

The Warrior’s Bride“Fareeda..” Alexander said knocking the door before he walked in. He met her standing at the wash basin. She was holding it tightly before she turned to face him. “I do not want you worrying yourself over me and the throne. You need to remain calm because of the child.” He said, making his way to her. “But I only worry about you because I love you. The child is fine, Alexander.” Fareeda answered placing her hands on his muscular arms: that were holding her at arm’s length. “And I love you my dear. I am fine. I understand. I have no choice now. I will be king, there is nothing I can do.” Alexander said, accepting his fate.

The Warrior’s Bride. Alexander’s fever continued since he had been moved to the cabin for three days, he was not getting any better. It was like his situation was getting worst as hours passed. The sight where the poisoned arrow pierced him began to release green pus, which showed he had an infection. There was nothing the healer could do. His body had to fight off the infection on its own. Everyday she would clean the sight of his wound and she always had to wipe him down with cool water. He was always coming in and out of consciousness and covered in sweat. Fareeda had not checked up in her father since the battle. She wondered if he had been injured too, or worse killed. She decided she would need to check up on him today. The Warrior’s Bride “I don’t think you should start training right way, Alexander.” Fareeda said, looking at his back. He was cleaning the dishes they just had lunch with. He really stopped her from raising a finger around the house. It had been three days since Alexander got to his feet and Fareeda didn’t like how he was taking things. He had just recovered from an infection that almost took his life. She placed a frown on her face when he turned to look at her. “I am good and ready to start training again. My men need me. The Warrior’s Bride.A yawn escaped Fareeda’s lips as she woke up the next morning. She rolled over in the bed only to find Alexander’s side of the bed empty. It was also cool to touch so she knew he had gotten up a good while ago. He didn’t even wake her from her sleep to tell her goodbye. Shock filled her as she felt the moisture gather in her eyes. She dabbed her eyes wondering why she would be tearing up at something like that. She got out of bed and walked into the washroom to do her business. She decided to take her bath and wash her hair too, when she noticed the temperature had risen. A smile reached her lips when she saw how much water Alexander had fetched down. Once she finished, she donned her dress and tied her hair in a drying cloth.

Fareeda knew her father-in-law would have been the one to think of this and she knew it irked Alexander, because he didn’t have a smile on his face when the guard came to open the door for them. “Smile, my love.” Fareeda said, gently caressing his cheek as they sat in the moving carriage. “What is there to smile about? My father does this knowing I don’t like it.” Alexander said, looking into her eyes. She could see the frustration there. “Well, you are royalty and nothing can change that. The Warrior’s Bride “My love, seeing you on the bed like that makes me want to stay home,” Alexander said as he got ready to go training. It was odd for Fareeda to be awake at this time, but nonetheless she lay on the bed, using her elbows to prop herself. The sheets only managed to cover her chest, as her right leg was completely naked for his eyes only. Fareeda giggled, good heartedly. She was not going to beckon him to stay. He had stayed for a week more and she knew he needed to be on the field with the other men. “Go. I’ll be here when you return,” she said smiling at him. “Now, remember what I said. The Warrior’s Bride. Fareeda woke up with a start. She blinked her eyes as her vision began to clear. She stared at the ceiling for a brief moment, admiring the artwork above her head. The ceiling was also very high for it to be her cabin. Her heart skipped a beat. Where was she? She immediately sat up, looking around. Has she been kidnapped? “Oh Allah!” Fareeda said out loud to herself. She could remember being in Alexander’s arms. “My dear..” Anna said, coming into the room. She walked in with the healer and Fatima in tow. “Mother..” Fareeda said, she was about to get off the bed.
