Ainsley Castillo's act of playing the victim totally won over the comments.

[Oh my God! Look what they've driven her to!]

[And she is still so polite to that vixen?]

[Paige Russell, you're inhumane! You've driven your employee to the brink!]

[Lawyers, team up and sue her for abusing her power!]

[She's just jealous! She can't get married herself, so she won't let her employees tie the knot.]

My image as a jealous witch was sealed in an instant. My assistant, Chloe, and a few other employees spoke up to defend me.

"That's not how it is!"

"It's Ainsley's fault."

"Ms. Russell didn't mean it that way."

Their quiet rebuttals got picked up by the mic, and the live chat blew up immediately.

[Did you hear that? She's threatening her employees!]

[Those women are chiming in to back her up.]

[Oh God, this company is terrifying! Full of villains!]

[They have been brainwashed! Still defending her?]

[Is this some kind of cult company?]

My personal phone buzzed like crazy on the desk. The screen flashed with the name of my investor, Gabriele Dodson.

I ignored it, staring at the camera and the flood of online curses. They called me inhumane, crazy, and mentally twisted.

Right in front of millions of viewers, I shut down the live stream.

The screen went black, and the broadcast ended in my total defeat. Ainsley gained the sympathy of the entire internet, while I was labelled as a jealous, gaslighting, and toxic capitalist who abused the employees.

The next day, I had just arrived in the office when the operations director rushed in, her face as pale as a sheet. "Madam, we've got a problem. Our products have been pulled from every platform, citing serious issues with our values. And our partners sent unilateral termination letters."

Her Haven was grinding to a halt, the gravity of the situation hanging in the air.

Suddenly, the office door got kicked open. Gabriele stormed in with a fierce expression, slamming his phone down on my desk.

"Paige Russell!" he roared, jabbing his finger at my nose. "Why did you hang up on me yesterday? Are you out of your mind? For one intern, you're gonna ruin everything for everyone?"

Before I could respond, Vice President Victoria Gray stepped in front of him. "Mr. Dodson, calm down. Paige is the most upright person I know. She must have her reasons."

Gabriele wasn't impressed. "What, you've been brainwashed, too? What kind of perks did she give you? Why is everyone defending her?"

Victoria ignored him and pulled out her phone. Right in front of him, she logged into her verified account and posted: [I stake my reputation to say that Ms. Paige Russell is the best boss ever. She is nothing like what they're saying online.]

My assistant, who had spoken up in the live stream, along with a few women from tech and marketing, all commented under the post.

[Our culture is the best in the industry. No bullying is allowed here.]

[Ms. Russell is great to every one of us.]

[We stand with Ms. Russell!]

The post, along with the comments, shot to trending soon after.

After the storm, the company's reputation bounced back stronger. Our "sticking to the rules" style became a golden sign, attracting those who shared our values."I applied after seeing that wedding stream. Ma'am, your actions were awesome!" said a newly-joined programmer. The better news? Victoria and Chloe returned after it all settled."Paige, we still wanna work with you," Victoria said emotionally on rehire day.I nodded with a smile. "Welcome home."Chloe scratched her head. "I'm sorry for ever doubting you, Ms. Russell.""It's all in the past," I said smoothly. "Look forward.""This is our home," Victoria added. The team reunited, and everyone fired up."Let's have dinner together, my treat," I announced. The office erupted in cheers.I reflected on my management style, realizing that rules needed firmness and communication needed transparency. For that drive, I pushed for clearer policy postings and added employee care channels. At the all-hands, I declared, "We don

Pushed to the brink, people would turn or warp. They were the same old counts from those alt accounts. Before I could respond, the netizens saw it through.[Ainsley Castillo? Still at it?][Proof? Just talk?][Believe a deadbeat? "I wanna see Paige Russell! Get her here now!"She tried barging into the office, but the receptionists and security blocked her. "Sorry, no appointment, no entry.""Move! This is between me and her!" s

The day after the wedding fiasco, the company's legal team and Victoria's lawyers filed lawsuits simultaneously.Online opinion flipped one-sided. Ainsley's exploits became the net's new punchline. The evidence was solid and complete, so the court moved fast.A month later, the verdict came. The court ruled Ainsley guilty of malicious defamation, fabricating facts, inciting cyberbullying, and severely damaging my company and my reputation. She must post a pinned apology on all major social platforms' homepages for 30 straight days. And she was asked to compensate for my losses and mental damages to Victoria and others, totaling 1.8 million dollars, which she couldn't pay.To make things worse, the wedding planner, the hotel, and the sponsor's penalties piled up—another huge sum.Soon, for failing to comply, she got listed as a deadbeat, restricted from luxury spending, riding planes or trains, and borrowing loans.Donovan had ghosted her since the next day of the wedding. Donovan stared at the screenshots for a full half-minute. Then he slowly turned to Ainsley, his expression a despairing calm.He took off his boutonniere and tossed it on the ground. He grabbed the mic and croaked, "Ainsley, you make me sick!"He faced the guests and the live camera, announcing, "I declare this wedding canceled. I'll reserve the right to pursue Ainsley Castillo for her deceptive actions."He walked offstage without looking back. Ainsley let out a piercing wail. "Donovan, come back!" She tried to chase after him, but the guards stopped her. She shouted desperately, "Let me go! Donovan, wait!"Donovan's parents stood up from their seats, cursing at Ainsley's parents. "What kind of daughter did you raise? A total liar! You all aimed to scam our money! Give it back!"Ainsley's mother rushed up, grabbing the hair of Donovan's mother. "Nonsense! Your son is useless! Can't even protect my daughter!"Ainsley's father roared, "You'll get nothing back! You've ruined my d

With the facts staring her down, Ainsley couldn't argue. The panic on her face vanished, replaced by a twisted rage. She screamed, "Paige Russell! You're just jealous of me!"She pointed at me, her finger shaking. "Jealous that I'm getting married! Jealous that I'm happier than you!"She threw a tantrum, trying to muddy the waters. "You're wrecking my wedding on purpose, you toxic bitch!"She turned to the camera, crying out, "Everyone, be the judge! Even if I have just started, can't I get married? Her company is uncivilized! She just has it out for me! Deliberately making things hard for me!"She tried twisting the rules issue back into a moral one, stirring up viewer emotions.I didn't yell back; I just calmly faced the camera. "These rules apply equally to everyone. Probation or full-time, all must follow. It isn't personal, but you used public opinion to attack the company and me. That's sheer slandering.""Shut up!" she shrieked, turning to the groom and grabbing his arm.

"She hadn't passed probation that day," I pointed out, looking at Ainsley. "Let me clarify. The company didn't deny a reasonable wedding leave request. What I denied was an unreasonable demand from someone who'd been on the job for just two days. Still on probation, she was trying to claim full employee benefits and using public pressure to force it."My voice echoed through the room, silencing everyone. The screen behind me switched to the live chat.Comments scrolled like crazy, words blurring.[Holy crap? Did I hear that right? Just two days?][Two days, and demanded wedding leave? Shame on her!][Isn't it common sense that probation doesn't get full perks? This girl has got issues?][I really thought it was a heartless boss. Turns out it's a giant baby employee.][This is straight-up causing trouble? Plot twist!]The tide turned in an instant, and Ainsley's face turned ashen. She clutched her gown, shaking with fear and anger. "I just started. I didn't know."She scrambled
