Chapter-3 New Plan

Devon POV

"How could you have been so irresponsible?" Stacy gave me a friendly smack on the arm while frowning.

"I'm fine," I said with a chuckle. My head was clouded with Amethyst when she applied a bandage to my cheek. Her gaze were hypnotic, and her lips moved in unison. But why am I obsessing about her? A car suddenly came to a standstill in front of a massive traffic jam. My phone rang, and the caller ID reads, "Dad."

"Yes, Dad," I replied.

"There is a massive traffic jam in Devon, and it will be cleared in 10 hours."

"Dad, we should go back since it's pointless to wait in the car, and I'm alright now."

"All right, let's get back to the farmhouse."

Our cars retraced their steps back to the farmhouse. We arrived at the farmhouse later and proceeded to our room.

Everyone gathered in the main room the next morning to leave the farmhouse.

"By now, the traffic would have been cleared. "Let's get out of here," Dad said, swiping through his phone. We sauntering made our way to the exit.

"Sir, please stop," a strange voice said from behind us. We returned our attention to the speaker. A young lady in a formal outfit with a ponytail and a small height. She walked up to us and bowed respectfully in front of us.

"Good morning Sir, I am your wedding planner. "My name is Nyka," she said with a stiff nod.

"Good day, Miss Nyka." We're sorry, but we've decided to move our wedding back to London."

"However, sir, I have only completed half of the layout."

"It doesn't matter to me." "It's finally time for us to leave," Dad said, interrupting our talk.

"Yes, we left it yesterday, but we waited because of the traffic," Stacy remarked, her hand around my arm.

"Mam, the road is still closed due to a landslide, and there is a large boulder in the route that will take 2-3 days to remove." "Until then, the path to London is closed," Nyka announced. Everyone grimaced and gasped in disbelief.

"All right, then you can do further arrangements as well, and we'll do the ceremony here," I said with a tiny smile. She responded with a little smile and a nod of her head.

"Mam, please," a familiar voice echoed in the room. Her face was obscured by the heaps of decorations. Amethyst, I thought the voice was. "I told you already that I won't hire you," Nyka snapped at the girl. The girl knelt and tossed the items to the ground. Amethyst's appearance astonished and delighted me.

“Amethyst” I murmured her name. I was entranced into her eyes as our gazes connected, and I forgot about the rest of the world.

"You're fired, and that's the end of it." Nyka laughed at her and snapped me back to reality. The harsh voice of Nyka made Amethyst cringe. Her palm folded in forgiveness as tears flowed down her cheek. Looking at her tears made my heart hurt, and I felt compelled to wipe away those priceless tears.

"Miss Nyka this is not the way to talk to her," I growled. If Nyka had been a guy, I would have shown her the agony of being insulted.

"However, sir, she is perpetually late for work, and there are numerous complaints against her."

"If you can't maintain her, your contract with us will be terminated as well." Her face became flushed, and panic flashed across her eyes. Nyka's face showed the same emotion as Amethyst had a few minutes previously. Nyka responded with a nod and a shift of her head towards Amethyst.

"You can continue your job," Nyka huffed and walked off out of the room.

"Thank you so much sir,” Amethyst murmured, sauntered in my direction and bowed her head.

"No, I should thank you."

"Can you tell me why you're praising her?" Stacy inquired, her eyes narrowed.

"Because she's the girl who saved me from tumbling down the cliff the day before yesterday."

"You didn't told us about her," mom frowned and stood beside Amethyst. She kissed Amethyst on the face and hugged her.

"Thank you, for saving my son,” mom said softly.

"No mam," Amethyst replied, shaking her head. "I heard him shouting for help, so I helped him."

"However, I did not call for assistance."

As far as I recall, I never asked for assistance. How did she hear my voice, then?

"Sir, I was passing by when your leg fell down the cliff, and when I heard your screams, I ran to help you," she stated sweetly and calmly, and my heart was overjoyed.

"And you were the one who saved me." I replied with an eager grin. Then my gaze was drawn to her wrist wounds, which were covered in scratches. I couldn't contain my emotions and reached out to touch her wrist wound. We both flinched as a spark sparked in my body. Stacy yanked her hand away from my grip and entwined her fingers with mine. I frowned at her ludicrous behaviour. “Thank you for saving my soon husband's life,” Stacy pecked on my cheek.

"It's all right, mam," she replied quietly as she shifted her weight off her heels. My heart yearned for her to come to a halt as she walked away. Than why do I want her to stop and learn more about her, why is this happening to me, and why should I think about any lady but Stacy?

She is either the enigma of my life or the first female for whom my heart raced and music played in my ears. I've never had this kind of relationship with a female before, Stacy or anybody else. Amethyst is merely a common girl and an assistant.

"We should get ready for the engagement," Stacy whispered in my ears.

"Not right now." I was still staring at Amethyst and had completely forgotten about my engagement.

"Can you explain what you mean, Devon?" My thoughts were interrupted by Stacy's words. Everyone was looking at me with strained brows, waiting for a response.
