With my mind still occupied with today’s events, I entered the room completely forgetting that Asher was inside. Making my way to the bathroom, I took off my hoodie and threw it on the couch. I felt a cold sting on my arms and chest. It made the hair on the back of my neck stand.
I twisted the door knob but it didn’t open. Must be stuck, I thought. I tried again and luckily it opened. It was more like a touch than a hold and twist. The door opened by itself. It was Asher. He was inside with a towel wrapped around his torso. There was some space between us. Immediately, blood rushed to my cheeks and I flushed. His eyes were on me. I could feel them piercing through me as I took notice of his wet hair which hung roughly above his head. I lowered my gaze but it wasn’t helping since his chiseled body was really distra
Taking the stairs, I hopped down wearing a dark blue hoodie over dark blue jeans which hugged my thighs and legs along with white thick sole joggers. Five days went by with Asher and I not talking to each other. It was either a small nod or a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’ and at the most, not more than five words, literally. Things were getting depressingly tedious for me. My routine was the same as always. Breakfasts were in the room or in the kitchen with Maya, sometimes alone; I was not a fan of lunches that leave dinner. Dinner was downstairs in the dining room, the huge room with just a table and its chairs. It had twenty seats in total. Asher always sat in the front single chair and mine was on his right hand side. Cole was beside me and Gray on his left. Sabine was beside Cole and then followed Maya whereas Felicia was beside Gray. That was how we were u
“Are you sure she is okay Cole?” I asked as she ran towards the woods. “Yeah, don’t worry about her,” he assured but I wasn’t satisfied by his answer. Something happened but I’ll leave it for now. “If you say so,” looking at the two guys I sighed, “Okay then, do your thing, I’m leaving,” “What thing?” Adrian frowned. I opened my mouth to speak but Cole interrupted, laughing, “She means training,” His mouth formed an ‘o’ before he gave a suggestion, “Why don’t you practice with us?” Cole looked at him. “I mean you should know how to fight,” he elaborated. “Yeah right. Fight who exactly?” I said, smiling weakly.
Taking in a hot sip of my coffee, I took a quick glance at everyone sitting at the table. They were all so focused into their own worlds. This was never the way with my family. We talked and laughed, we actually looked forward to having breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Anything that brought us to the table! It was exciting to talk about the littlest of things. But here, it’s like pack business, pack training or the upcoming ‘Winter Ball,’ otherwise nothing. Well Winter Ball sounds exhilarating to be honest. I hear Ball and I imagine a huge hall with formally dressed men in tuxedos or suits and women in dresses and wine and delectable food and the fresh aroma of enthusiasm and slow dancing. It’s quite…picturesque. Deciding to lighten up the boring atmosphere, I spoke up, taking everyone by surprise especially Asher, “Alpha Solomon, will your pack be joining us at the Winter Ball?”
“I’ll make things easier for you to get Asher,” it doesn’t have to be this way.Her face went from a smiley one to a serious one. “What do you mean?” her voice went rigid. She seemed interested, it’s working.Gulping, I forced the words out, “I’ll reject him as my mate,” nodding at myself after seeing her eyes go wide as saucers, I added, “I’ll reject him,” no, no don’t let the tears come out, dumbass.Boy, was I glad it was too dark too focus on my face.“Why will you do that?” she asked, demandingly.
Ashers POV: Where the hell was she? It’s eleven. I swear Axel, if this time I find her sauntering around the woods, alone, I will punish her. He grunted showing his disapproval of letting me do anything to hurt our mate. Selfish dog, as if I’m not affected when she’s hurt. Deciding to have a quick bath I stripped and went inside the bathroom, turned on the shower and stood under the soothing hot water pouring over me. Remembering how she scowled at me in the ground today when Maya refused to train her, I chuckled. I was right. I knew she was going to seek Maya's help out therefore I told her beforehand to not accept her offer. Mayas is a good girl and a part of me was delighted to see her f
“What?” I panted, his face hovered above mine. I noticed that his eyes were back to his stormy ones. Axel. He pushed Axel back. I think I know what happened. He was doing okay until Axel lost control, that stupid dumbo, and tried to come through but Asher strained him back. His eyes shouted for more, they weren’t yet satisfied but he stopped. He pulled himself up from me and sighed heavily. I lay there, winded and dazed, astonished at the peculiar feeling of my core, the throbbing of every inch of my body. Is this what desire feels like? “Why did you do that?” he roughened his hair. Staring at the ceiling above, too lost in the former moment, I licked my lips. The lips he kissed on. “Because I wanted to,” All of a sudden the ceiling seemed very interesting to look at. I don’t regret what I did; baffled to my very heart, yes, but there is no guilt . I liked every moment of it. Giving him that answer seemed like the
Asher’s POV:“How many are dead?” I inquired.“The kid is the only survivor,” Cole glanced at the nine year old trembling boy, his lips quivering his eyes wide from all the traumatic mayhem he saw. His left arm had a sharp claw mark which held dried blood. That wasn’t from a vampire.Maya was attending to him. Holding his shaky hand in hers, she placed her other hand on his wound softly and closing her eyes she relaxed herself, taking a deep breath through her nostrils. The wound slowly started to heal as it faded from the corners. The boy watched her with amused eyes but he seemed too depleted to react.“Rogues were also involved,” Cole informed and my jaw tightened as I pursed my lips together.Suddenly anger washed over me, I scoffed. How awful is this world! Slaughtering people without any reason, killing children, spreading isolation, and fear but for what? To prove a fucking poi
My thought was ruined by the sudden bang on the room’s door. A servant ran in seeming as if he had seen ghosts, with sweat dripping down his face, a horrified expression settled on his face. From the corner of my eyes, I could see Asher with a frown hanging over his forehead. Alpha Killian continued picking peas from his plate by a fork while Alpha Solomon paid attention to the restless servant. Cole, Gray, Maya and Felicia had their focus glued onto that man. “What is it?” Asher demanded. The air was suddenly tense and the alert gazes from Asher and everyone were really giving me an off sentiment. “Alpha Kane from The Assembly,” he gulped, “He’s here,” The fork stopped midway air just a few centimeters away from Alpha Killian’s lips and he stared at the servant in awe. Alpha Solomon sighed shook his head “Kane?” it was Alpha Solomon. “What the hell is he doing here?” He muttered bitterly throwing a sharp glare at Asher. “Where
