LOGINReed's point of view She's pregnant. The thought hit me so hard that, for several seconds, I forgot how to breathe. I sat on the floor with my back against the side of my bed, staring at nothing. My hands rested loosely between my knees, but every muscle in my body felt tense. My child was growing inside Nova. What was I supposed to feel? I dragged both hands over my face and exhaled slowly. Happy or scared? I didn't even know. All I knew was that my mind had become a battlefield. If I had heard this news two, three months ago… I might have danced in joy. God knew I had wanted a family. More than I had ever admitted to anyone. There had been nights when I imagined a different life, a quieter one. A home that belonged to me. A woman I loved. Children running through rooms that had never known the kind of darkness I grew up around. And now, somehow, that dream has found its way into my hands. So why the fuck do feel terrified? I lowered my head and raked my fingers through my hair.
Nova's point of view My eyes drifted back to Sarah as she reached for her glass, took a small sip, and leaned back. “ A neighbor helped me leave the village to this city. When I came here, I changed everything. My name, the way I dress and my appearance.” Her fingers slipped through the short strands. “I cut it because I didn't want anyone to recognize me.”I stared at her. “Wait. You mean you've always had short hair?”Sarah burst out laughing. “No.” She reached for her phone. “I used to look completely different.” She unlocked her phone, scrolled for a moment, then turned the screen toward us.My eyes widened. “God…You were really beautiful.”Sarah laughed.I looked from the picture to Sarah. The woman in the picture barely looked like the Sarah sitting beside me. Her hair was long, her face softer, and she had a beautiful, fuller figure. “You had a classic figure eight.”“Don't remind me.” She laughed.I smiled, handing the phone to Elsa. “Your daughter must have taken your beauty
Nova's point of view “Wait. Pregnant?” Elsa's voice shot across the room. She looked at Sarah like she'd just heard the most impossible thing in the world. “How? You just said he didn't really get his way. So how did he get you pregnant? Or did another guy come into the picture? Are we talking about a different man here?….”“Elsa.” I called softly. “What?” She threw her hands up. “I'm confused!”Sarah chuckled. She wiped beneath her eyes, but the smile on her face didn't last. “That question,” she said quietly, “ran through my head for two straight months.” She shook her head. “I couldn't believe I was pregnant. Every time I looked at that test and saw two lines, I laughed at the absurdity.”“Exactly!" Elsa burst out. Sarah lifted one shoulder. “Apparently, biology had an answer.”Elsa frowned. “Couldnt be possible. ”I sighed. “It is possible. Pregnancy can happen without complete intercourse if sperm reaches the vagina, even through limited sexual contact.”Sarah immediately po
Nova’s point of view When I finally raised my eyes back to Sarah, she was still staring at the floor. For the first time, I really looked at her. Not as my colleague, not as the woman who always smiled at work, laughed at the stupidest jokes, and somehow managed to make everyone around her feel like everything was fine. I looked at her, and suddenly, I noticed things I had somehow missed. The faint lines beneath her eyes. The tiredness settled into her face. The little creases around her mouth that didn't belong to someone who was always smiling. Her shoulders seemed heavier now. How had I never noticed? How many times had I sat beside this woman, complained about my own problems, laughed with her, worked beside her, without realizing she was carrying something this enormous? My chest tightened. Sarah slowly lifted her eyes. “Mark paid for my sister's treatment.” Her voice was quiet. “He paid every hospital bill. He made sure she got the care she needed. Then he sent me back to scho
Nova's point of view “Hi. I'm sorry. I didn't call before coming. I just wanted to see Nova. Is she in?” “Of course. You can come in anytime.” Elsa said, opening the door wider. My eyes lifted from the couch. “ Sarah?" A smile immediately touched my lips.Sarah walked straight toward me..“Are you okay?” Before I could answer, she wrapped her arms around me. Tightly, almost desperately. I stiffened for half a second, then hugged her back. When she finally pulled away, Elsa was standing a few feet away with one eyebrow raised. I gave her a questioning look, she only shrugged.Sarah sat beside me. “Since the last time we met, I just couldn't stop thinking about you,” she said. “I thought I should come and see you in person.”“Oh.” I smiled faintly. “Thanks.” But Sarah didn't smile back. Her fingers remained folded tightly in her lap. She looked at Elsa, then at me. Her lips parted. She seemed to be searching for a way to arrange the words inside her head before letting even one escap
Nova's point of view The shock on my face was humiliating. My mouth dropped open, my mind racing with different questions. Elsa grabbed both my hands. “Nova! You are really having a baby!” She laughed, almost breathless.I finally closed my mouth, my eyes glued to her face “Wait.” Her smile faded slightly. “You're not angry?”“Angry?” She looked genuinely offended by the question. “Why would I be angry?”Elsa squeezed my hands. “Who gets angry when someone receives a blessing?”I didn't answer..A tiny smile tugged at her mouth..“Do you remember when we were kids? When we used to play house together, you hated it, while I always played the mother.” She laughed, then her expression softened. “I always told you I wanted children. So many of them that our house would be impossible to keep quiet.”I smiled faintly..“I thought you were just being childish.”“I was.”.She shrugged..“But I wasn't wrong.”.Her eyes dropped to my stomach again..“This isn't something you should be ashamed of.”My

Nova's point of view My fingers trembled slightly as I adjusted the lace that clung against my thighs. I held my breath, listening to the soft ticking of the clock echoing through the dim room. “Nova, you’ve got this,” I whispered to myself, pressing my palm against my chest trying to steady the
Nova's point of view “You really should be ashamed of yourself, Nova.” Margaret’s voice sliced through the air before I could even react to the pain on my cheek.“Sleeping outside your husband’s house and coming back looking like…” she paused, her lips curling in disgust, “this….a filthy trash!”T
