Stretching, I woke up more rested than I had felt in a very long time. I looked over the edge of the bed, but Tahlia wasn’t there. My heart dropped and I nearly fell out of bed. She wasn’t in the bathroom or the closet. The door was closed and I slammed it open, looking down the hall.

It scared a poor Omega who had been cleaning in the hallway. She squeaked, looking shocked as she looked up at me. Running a hand through my hair, I let out a sigh.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.”

“N-Not at all, Alpha. I’m s-sorry. It’s still early and I d-didn’t think you would be up for a while.”

I nodded, taking a deep breath. “Not that I expect you to know, but have you see a large grey wolf?”

“You mean Luna?”

Blinking at her, she had her head cocked to the side much like Tahlia did when she looked at me. Was this the look? Looking at me like I was being stupid? Or saying something stupid?

“Yes?”

She nodded. “Head Omega heard her scratching at your door this morning and let her out. It was a

~Darkness. At first there was only darkness. Something I was familiar with. The prelude to the nightmare. A familiar walk into my past. Instead of going to the usual forest where my parents died, I found myself in a new one. This one was just as familiar though. My own forest. The ones surrounding the pack. Even the smell came through in the dream.I walked through the trees. Feeling the sun as it shined through the leaves. I loved this forest. It made me fall in love with the trees again. For a long time, I didn’t go anywhere near them. When I first was dropped off here, I refused to step foot into the forest. My uncle didn’t know what to do with me. I’d never been raised in a pack or had any understanding of what was going on. I’d heard of them, I knew I was a werewolf, but I’d never been in or around any others. The shock that came being in a whole new place, with all new people, on top of desperately trying to forget my parents death, was too much. I lashed out. I destroyed ever

*** Ephraim’s POV *** When Tahlia hadn’t come back for hours, my worry compounded. The irrational fear that she left and she wouldn’t come back nagged me to the point that almost none of my work got done. Expect that I started to get mind links from the pack.First it was from patrols, saying that they spotted her running the territory. Some said she was so fast that they couldn’t keep up with her even when they tried. With how the reports from each of the warriors happened, Tahlia had made a surprisingly quick run around the territory.Next she was spotted in different parts of the territory. Some spotted her near the residential area and then in the town itself. No one seemed to have an issue, usually just checking to make sure she was supposed to be there. However, a few did notice the strength of power surrounding her; the need to acknowledge her as their Luna. I knew I needed to speak with everyone sooner rather than later if she was going to be out and about like this. Her com

*** Tahlia’s POV *** The trees here smelled different. Everything smelled different. Racing along the edge of the territory, I did check whether it would cause me pain or not. I hadn’t felt it the first time, the pain of crossing the line, but it did feel different. That was until my Alpha made his mark on me.I had a feeling he was one of them; the imitators. He never had changed in front of me, but now he did. His worry came across as he did. It wasn’t easy to accept, but he was my Alpha. If I accepted him as that, then I would accept everything about him.It helped that the form still smelled like him. That didn’t change. There wasn’t the rotting smell that came with the others. Just him. The damp earth smell that I enjoyed.Running the territory line helped me know how large of an area was his. It took me until the sun went down. The whole territory seemed impossibly large. I did run into a few other beasts along the path, both wolf and beast form, but none of them tried to attac

“Well, I definitely think I need to reach out to Dad. He would know more about that than I would. Willow is going to be heartbroken though.”I chuckled. “There are going to be quite a few people upset by this. Especially since technically, Tahlia is just a wolf. We don’t even know…”“Well, let’s not lose hope yet?”The door to the room slammed open and tried not to smile as a very disheveled Dallas took up the entire doorway. He looked livid, his bright as his wolf pressed forward. Tahlia seemed to sense the shift in the air and woke up. Her eyes landed on my Beta, and she stood, her body angled in a way to protect me.Usually, I was the one stepping up to protect. Tahlia really thought I needed protection in this moment and I could feel her ready to give everything she had to protect me. Putting my hand on her ruffled fur, I rubbed it softly.“Hey, Alpha King, I’ll talk to you later. My Beta and Gamma just found me.”Nero cackled on the other end. “Alright. I’ll get into contact with

“Do you think if we ran right now, we would be able to outrun my pissed off friends?” I asked Tahlia belatedly. She nudged my arm and I put my hand on her, scratching between my ears. We were in for it. The whole pack would be at the house, trying to get answers. I could feel Dallas and Reese trying to force a mind link, but I shut it down.Tahlia’s connection to the pack thrum in me. The feeling of an unknown Alpha dropped and instead was replaced by her. It felt so foreign, but so familiar. Just holding onto it in my mind sent a wave of peace through me.Tahlia. My Luna. A new connection thrummed in my soul. My wolf howling in happiness. I’d never felt so complete. The pain and loneliness that plagued me as I walked through life was gone in an instant. Dallas had tried to explain to me what a mate bond felt like, but this was so far beyond anything he tried to say.Leaning forward, I dropped my head into my knees. This was so bad. Not only did I not have Tahlia’s permission to give
