Chapter Six

"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?"

The news had spread immediately like hot searing wildfire all over Vire and even to the neighboring kingdoms in the next few days since that outstanding announcement during the royal meeting with Prince Kevian dropping an unexpected revelation in front of everyone. And when that reached the ears of the very prominent king of Eron, King Fenir, he looked totally displeased by it and he got overtly bothered by the fact that this was starting to get in his way.

He felt himself being swallowed by his intense dissatisfaction and distaste as he had reacted too strongly.

"The crowned prince of Vire, Prince Kevian, your Highness," his royal messenger specifically confirmed with undeterred calmness as he spoke in a neutral tone and continued, "He had vocally announced his personal intentions to marry the current Queen of Vire, Queen Sevina, to keep her in the position and boldly suggested this right in front of all the Vire royal officials."

What an absolute joke!

King Fenir held back his anger but he still felt the annoyance seeped into his nerves while he masked his face with a stoic expression, trying to absorb all of it. He did not really see that coming at all. With all the recent talks about the crowned prince's marriage arrangements and his nearing enthronement, Prince Kevian has really made a lot of people feel threatened of how he will become a king for the most invincible kingdom in Earthoria.

King Fenir felt too alarmed not just about the future of the Vire, but also the future of his own kingdom and all of the other allied territories.

Marry the same Queen? Had the prince lost his mind?

King Fenir can't really decide whether to mock it with scrutiny or laugh. He really hoped it was all just a bluff. He did not like this at all. If this comes to fruition, there was no other way but to start another ruse to create disturbance in Vire.

He can't believe it. He was already too sure that he can succeed in his own selfish plans. King Fenir had been actually thinking about offering the hand of his only daughter, Princess Ferisha to become a candidate for the crowned prince's future wife. He knew that he had a good chance of getting favors from the majority.

He had already calculated the odds for so long and he was even planning to propose this very idea with Queen Sevina in the upcoming Annual Grand Ball next week. But hearing this unexpected turn of events, somehow, just made everything else a waste. It was now starting to make him feel doubtful of his own intentions in getting closer to the Vire's powerful authority.

What the hell was that prince thinking? King Fenir felt absolutely lost and helpless. Was that for real? Why would that young brat want to marry someone like the Vire Queen?

He knew that he can't really control the decisions that the Vire people will be making for their own kingdom but this was not what King Fenir had wanted to happen if ever the crowned prince's suggestion will be approved by many. There was no way he was going to agree with that as well. He did not want to lose the chance to acquire a better connection with Vire.

And since the only route he could take was to make his daughter marry the next King, it certainly ruins the possibility he can finally enter the royalty of Vire.

He had to do something... He still can't predict what would Queen Sevina do about this now. Although judging from how he had known Queen Sevina for years, she would surely try to refuse the offer right away. That woman would never agree in marrying the crowned prince that she had already treated more like a son of hers.

But how can he even be sure of that too? This news about the crowned prince wanting to marry that woman was already out of nowhere? Who knows what happens next?

After all, the Vire Queen had always been pretty unreadable and unconventional. She is a strong and powerful witch. And she can make any man beg on his knees just to avoid her wrath and anger. Apart from that, she also possesses that perpetual beauty that will never make her age and really give her a quality to remain a Queen for the powerful kingdom. But getting married with the young prince, what would that even give them?

The only reason King Fenir could think of as to why the crowned prince had insisted that suggestion was probably because the young royal member was infatuated with that witch. Did she enchant the young prince all this time? Was that a part of her scheme so she won't have to step down from the position? He knew how competitive and intimidating the Vire Queen has always been, and that did not ommit the thought that she might still be hoping to keep the position forever...

If she stays as Queen even after the new King is crowned, there will be no chance anymore for King Fenir or any other strong kingdom to take the authority that the Vire had always acquired over the other allied territories. That was unfair and he felt really frustrated just thinking of how long he had to endure the inferiority.

His greed was starting to overwhelm him again and it consumed him the moment he realized the possibility of Queen Sevina still maintaining her hold against him. King Fenir balled his fist, feeling more burdened and pressure by the thought as he dismissed the royal messenger out of the hall.

He took a deep breath.

He had to think of a better plan just in case that idea progresses. He had to steal the attention from the Vire Queen and pursue the interest of that young prince. After all, Prince Kevian was the only way King Fenir could think of that will make him take over the power that Vire had been hogging all to itself for more more than two decades now.

The Vire Queen must be taken out of the picture and King Fenir started to seriously think of a good plan to get rid of that thorn in his heel that has been making him extremely furious and frustrated for so long now.
