Prologue

She is the most powerful queen in Vire. The only queen who has the rest of the nearby kingdoms bow down to her because of her immeasurable prowess and immortality... But beneath her intimidating presence lies a secret that could break her into pieces... A secret of how she had chosen to rule despite the fact that she didn't want to be the queen.

---------

QUEEN SEVINA is a witch and an immortal.

She has been ruling over the entirety of Vire, the most powerful and biggest kingdom in the expanse of EARTHORIA. The whole kingdom of Vire has been acknowledging Queen Sevina for so long now as the most royalty among royalties. She is their leader of leaders; the queen of all kings. Many feared her for her unbridled power as a witch and the fact that she could diminish any size of enemies with just a snap of her hand.

In simplest words, she has always been invincible. But until today, her power and her greatness have been challenged by a certain news that was dropped on her this morning. And that was more than enough to make her restless and anxious.

It was the upcoming engagement of the prince. Prince Kevian of Vire. Although never related by blood, Queen Sevina has always been there since the young prince and the next of kin was still a child. The truth was, Queen Sevina has been only sitting on the throne until the right time for Prince Kevian to take over comes.

It was a sole decision of the late King and Queen, Prince Kevian's parents, to come up with that plan ever since they had transferred the responsibility to Queen Sevina. And Queen Sevina, on the other hand, having no qualms and complaints about this, agreed with that idea because she knew she really had no choice as well.

It was all fated to happen. And for her, it was no longer a part of her responsibility to control what will happen to the prince... The only thing she needed to do is to make sure he will be KING.

"The date has been marked already, your Highness," The royal advisor, who stood at the end of the stairs right in front from where Queen Sevina was sitting on her throne, her face void of expression, told her with a clear tone. He kept his head down, making sure not to meet eyes with her as respect.

Queen Sevina held back a long sigh. The days of her ruling will soon come to an end. She should be glad. It was what she has always hoped for. But as soon as this reality dawned on her, she knew that everything was inevitable. She can't really say that she was happy to hear that the prince was finally going to meet the soon-to-be queen.

Why was she feeling so extremely uncertain with all of this?

"As promised, I will let you and the rest of the royal ministers to arrange the meeting for the two of them," Queen Sevina replied back with a neutral voice. Even she, herself, could sense that it was not something she was looking forward to at all. But Queen Sevina knew she had to hide the emotions from all of this.

After all, there were still rumors and speculations that put her in an awkward situation with the prince in the past few months. Brought by that unplanned night that she regretted so much, Queen Sevina can't help but feel harried by the flash of memory in the back of her mind.

Don't think about it, she mentally warned herself.

"Is that all for now?" Queen Sevina spoke out, her words echoing through the silence of the hall. The royal advisor slowly stood straight and bowed formally as a form of response as he said, "Yes, your Highness. As you've ordered. We'll make sure to make everything perfect."

"That's appreciated. Now, you're dismissed."

Watching the advisor leave the place with long strides, gave Queen Sevina a sense of relief as she found herself alone and only accompanied by two more knights guarding the expansive hall. She slowly rested the back of her head on the body of the chair behind her and closed her eyes. Eventually, her thoughts drifted back to that one night that she tried so hard to forget. But obviously, it was never completely erased.

She still could not will herself to bury everything deep so that she didn't have to keep feeling anxious around the prince. But how can she do that? Now that the damage has been done, can she ever really try to keep herself away from feeling that emotion?

Wasn't it your fault? her subconscious mind told her, making her hate it even more. She was the one who made the mistake and no matter how much she wanted to undo it, she knew that the only possible way she could do to get rid of it was to push everything away.

She had to be cold... But can she really take it? Now that the prince is going to be arranged to get married with someone else, can she really bottle up those feelings that are starting to fill her in with so many confusing thoughts in her head?

Her heart should never exist... It should be kept hidden in the dark, but ever since that night when she had lost herself to the uncontrollable urge to forget who she really was, things began to change so drastically. It was a mistake she should have never done in the first place. A mistake that she could have prevented but she had gone stupid at once.

And for that, she had to pay the price. And the price was something she did not really expect could be this hard... To feel something for the last person she should be having feelings for, was a huge punishment she had to accept because of what she did.

And now, it was all starting to get to her. How can she let herself get worse this way? How could she let herself fall for someone? Fall for the prince?
