Erina

Magnus wasn’t there when I woke, and I sneaked out of his bedroom to go to Gisela’s quarters. I needed to see Erik, tell him about Father’s capture. I also wanted to speak to Gisela about the tea she gave me. It didn’t seem to have any effect on me, and I was worried. I felt some pain and had some discharge, but it stopped. Please God, don’t let me have Hein’s baby in me.

But on the way, I met with the four mistresses.

“Not so fast, Erina. Where are you running off to?” Elise challenged me. “Come and have breakfast with us.” The invite sounded so innocent, but I knew better than to trust them.

“You really should join us, dear,” Vasi blocked my way. “We haven’t seen you in a while. Magnus has been keeping you all to himself. Selfish Lycan.” She wore the smile of a cat.

“Kind of you, but I need to see Gisela.” I tried to sidestep them, but Brigitte caught my arm.

“You think you’re better than us now that you have Magnus’ mark, don’t you?” she growled in my ear.

“Brigitte, careful…

MagnusWhat on earth was I saying? I couldn’t let Erina mark me. I pushed back my Lycan with a tremendous effort. The beast was melting in her hands, ready to lay himself at her feet. “You are the only one that wears my mark. Let that be enough. It’s all I can give you, Erina. Please don’t ask me for more than that.” My hands on her shoulders ached to pull her closer to my chest, but I dared not give her what she asked for -my heart. She blinked and pulled away. “Forget what I said. It must have been the drink.”My fur coat slipped down her shoulders, and she walked away, leaving it in the snow. I stooped to pick it up.“Erina! Don’t walk away from me.” Why did I sound so desperate? She stopped, and I reached her, stood behind her. I didn’t want her to turn around. Didn’t want to see the hurt in her eyes.“What do you want from me, Master?” she asked, her voice trembling as she turned around. “I belong to you, but you… you belong to no one. You are selfish. Or are you a coward?” She h

  • The Wolf Hunter's Daughter    The Valkyrie

HeinSitting in a corner of my room, I watched her while she slept, mumbling and writhing on my bed. Her black hair plastered to her face. She was the exact opposite of Erina. Where Erina was soft, still slight in build, but she had curves whereas Daphne was all hard lines. Her breasts were small, hips like a boy. Even her features were sharp. She wasn’t unattractive. But she wasn’t Erina. I could still feel the softness of her plump lips underneath mine, remember the way she tasted -like the fruits of the forest, sweet and now forbidden. How was I supposed to keep my distance now that I’ve had her? It was torture. Magnus was cruel to torture me this way. To bind me to her, this Valkyrie. She’ll die trying to murder me. But I have no choice. I couldn’t risk being exiled. It would be far worse to be sent away and never have the chance to see Erina again.Fate will bring us together again. I must believe this.I got to my feet and got undressed. Might as well get this over with. I’ve ne

  • The Wolf Hunter's Daughter    Defying Destiny

MagnusI saw her raise that blade and a part of me wanted her to do it -sever my head, end it all. But she dropped the knife. I had my claws around his throat. Just one push… But I stopped myself, returned to my human form, and knocked him unconscious. “Is he dead?” she asked, her voice thready. The blade lay at her feet.“Not yet.” I had a few questions for him. “Did he hurt you?” I got to my feet. She shook her head. He would have killed her had I not intervened. I picked up the knife she had dropped. It was sharp enough to cut through metal. “Pretty impressive,” I said, weighing the weapon in my hand, examining the ivory handle. It was a beautiful instrument of death. “You could have beheaded me, you know.”“I wanted to,” she murmured.I placed the weapon on the mantle above the fireplace. It would make a nice keepsake. “I know,” I said.Taking the sheet off her bed, I tore it into strips. With those, I bound the hunter’s hands and feet, removed his weapons. Found more knives hid

  • The Wolf Hunter's Daughter    Like Mother

ErinaA replacement. That was how he thought of me. Something to punish because she left him, and keeping me from Hein was the ultimate punishment. And yet, I couldn’t help what I felt for Magnus. It was an exclusive torture, torn between two men. Those bitter words he threw at me kept repeating in my mind. My father killed my mother. How could it be true? I didn’t want to believe him, but I knew the harsh man my father was. I’ve seen him kill; the way he switched off his humanity when he did. It was terrifying. If only he knew he wasn’t so different from the monsters he persecuted. I never wanted to believe Magnus when he said so, but he was right. We were all monsters. There would be no mercy for me when he found me, and he will, because he wasn’t a man who gave up. The word failure wasn’t in his vocabulary. I was ready for him, sitting there on my bed. Unafraid. Maybe I even craved death. It would be better than living tied to a man that didn’t love me for me. A man. Since when hav

  • The Wolf Hunter's Daughter    Bitter Truth

Magnus“Oh, don’t look so down, Erina. Look at it this way; you’ll have your family with you. Isn’t that what you wanted?” We were arguing about Daphne, and I told her I thought about changing Erik when he was healthier. I could use a fighter like him.“Magnus, you shouldn’t have done that. I know you want revenge on my father, but this is too much. When will this stop? You know, Daphne is not like me.” She wrung her hands; deep concern etched on the lines around her mouth.“And for that, I am exceedingly grateful.” Although I liked a challenge. But what I didn’t like was the way she looked at me. Her disapproval burned.“If she doesn’t kill herself, she’ll kill him,” she said, and that made me see red.“So that’s what this long face is about, isn’t it?” I yanked her to me, my fingers boring into the soft flesh of her upper arms. “It’s about Hein! You can’t stand the idea of him fucking Daphne. Isn’t that right?” Just tell me the truth. Drive that silver dagger right into my stone sto
