24. A tangled mess

Tangled in the mess of his conflicting thoughts and actions, Jamie spent a difficult night in the abyss of his room. 

Despite being a man who lived by his principles, he was alarmed to know how things were changing within him, all because of a woman. When he heard ancient lores of werewolves and their beloved mates, he had believed them to be superstitions that were greatly exaggerated. 

He didn’t believe in the traditional norms, and nor did he think he would fall prey to them eventually. After seeing little victory in his battle against his growing affection to Emma, he realized that the stories he heard growing up, the legend of which still reigned their lives, were not merely exaggerations but most definitely the truth. The bonding between mates was too strong a force to resist, even for a man with great resolve.&
