Elena’s eyes were still sealed with sleep when she opened the front door. She couldn’t remember when she managed to fall asleep on the couch while awaiting for any news about her friend, but surely seeing her in person sprung her back into reality. Widening her eyes in surprise, she had to blink a couple of times in order to confirm what she was seeing was indeed true. Emma was looking at her with a relieved smile, with Jamie standing behind her. “Emma!” She cried before pulling her friend in for a hug. Elena felt her friend’s arms around her in response, clinging onto her like she would be taken away from her yet again. Her eyes inevitably found Jamie’s, and a silent note of gratitude relayed between the both. Emma was silent the entire ride to her new home.Knowing he was demanding too much of her at the moment, Jamie remained silent too. Although he hated putting her in this position, a little part of him couldn’t help but rejoice that he would now have her in his vicinity. He would no longer need any pathetic excuse to see her in the bar or constantly think about her safety. Keeping her close was definitely a decision that arose out of pure concern for her wellbeing, but there must have been a selfish part of him that craved her presence in his life.Jamie was reluctant to address his growing feelings for her as much as he thought it important to kill them.
