Chapter 109Lucien Thorne ~•~My heart was pounding in my chest as my men and I surrounded Wilder’s house. It was an entirely different house and I was able to get access to it through my inside man in their town. I still couldn’t believe that they burned down the other house just to make it look believable that he actually died in the fire.I wanted to kill Wilder — quickly and quietly. Chapter 108Halle Wilder ~•~When I confronted Lucien about it, a part of me hoped that he would say everything was a lie and Grimm was just bluffing. I just didn’t want it to be true. But my heart shattered when he admitted everything. It felt like the whole world was spinning. I had no idea where I wanted to go but I just wanted to leave his house. Chapter 107Lucien Thorne ~•~Just when I was halfway to the house, my phone started ringing continuously. I glanced at it and saw Halle’s name flashing across the screen. I didn’t answer the call because I was driving. Well, that was just a silly excuse. The truth was that I was scared to pick up the call. I had no idea what she wanted to say, but I had a feeling that it was about the spell. I mean, what if Grimm had already reached out to her or something?The phone rang continuously. My throat tightened and I felt bad for ignoring her. After driving for a few more minutes, I decided to call her back. I was already going to the house where I would meet her in person, so there was no point ignoring her. I dialed her number and the call immediately went to voicemail. My breath hitched. Chapter 106Halle Wilder ~•~When the call ended, Ivy tapped my shoulder. “Who was that on the phone? Why do you look so spooked? What did they say to you?” She asked, her voice thick with curiosity. I had no idea when tears started rolling down my cheeks. “Halle, why are you crying? Did something happen?” Her brows drew together as she leaned closer. I closed my eyes briefly, then I wiped off my tears with the back of my hand. There was no point in crying. At least, not yet. “It’s Lucien,” I muttered under my breath. “Lucien called you? What did he say?” I shook my head. “No, Lucien didn’t call me. Grimm called me.” I replied, breathing out heavily. “He told me that Lucien cast a spell on me just so I would believe that we are true mates.” Ivy didn’t respond immediately. She just stared at me in silence. I didn’t know how I felt about what Grimm told me. What was his motive? Why would he say something like that to me? Chapter 105Halle Wilder ~•~Ivy was meant to come over to the house to spend some time with me. I needed company or I was going to lose my mind. Not just the company, I needed my best friend. My eyes had been constantly darting to the clock on the wall, I was literally counting the seconds to when she would arrive. She told me that she was already on her way and I was too impatient to wait. But after about twenty minutes, I heard a knock on the front door. I stood up immediately and answered the door before any worker in the house could even realize that someone was knocking. My lips curled into a small smile when I saw Ivy standing outside. “Hey,” I said, pulling her into a warm hug. “Why are you acting weird?” She murmured on my shoulder, a hint of curiosity in her voice. I broke the hug and my brows knitted into a frown. “How am I acting weird?
