"The northwestern entry point is the weakest. Strike team two should hit there first."

I studied the three dimensional magical projection of Montana headquarters floating above the war table. We had been planning this assault for three weeks, refining every detail, but I still felt like we were missing something.

"What about magical defenses?" Damon asked, pointing to glowing runes marked on the projection. "Serena said these wards are ancient. Even with fifty witches, breaking them will take time."

"Which is why we hit them simultaneously from five points," Theodore replied patiently. We had been over this plan a hundred times but everyone was nervous. "The wards cannot defend everywhere at once. They will have to choose where to focus their power. That is when we breach."

"And if they choose correctly? If they focus defenses at all five entry points?"

"Then we adapt. We always adapt."
