CHAPTER 7

Stella

The number of thoughts running through my head was innumerable. I got out of the sick bed and got ready to go home with Audrey.

She wanted me to stay at her place until I was strong enough but the little strength in me just wouldn't give in.

We got into the car and we drove to the penthouse. To my surprise, everything was the way we had left it. Anyone could tell that Scario didn't come back the previous night.

If he did then why wouldn't he have bothered to look for me? I made my way to the kitchen and prepared coffee while Audrey made us toasts. I could tell that she was tired.

“I'm sorry you have to go through this," I said to her.

“You should stop this Stella. I'm here for you OK," she pulled me into a hug.

My phone vibrated and I checked who it was only to receive a notification from the hospital that my mother's monthly bill wasn't paid for. I didn't have enough to give them and Scario was nowhere to be found.

“Is everything OK?" Audrey asked, noticing the worry on my face after I read the hospital’s notification.

“Yeah it's nothing," I faked a smile.

“Stella, please, I'm not going to do this with you. Are you going to tell me or do you want me to find out," she pointed to my phone.

“It's the hospital bill. They said that Scario didn't pay for this month," I said.

" That's sad. Do you have anything in mind?” she asked.

"I don't know what to do. Now that—”

Before I could complete that sentence I was cut off by the sound of footsteps coming from the living room. I made my way there and met the eyes of Scario who looked at me as if I wasn't his wife.

"I'll need to see you at the office,” he said before making his way upstairs.

I didn't even get a chance to say anything. Audrey followed after a few minutes and asked if it was him. I nodded before I made my way upstairs.

I opened the master bedroom and found that Scario was taking a shower. His clothes were messily lying on the floor. As always I picked them up and was about to put them away when the strong smell of another woman's fragrance hit my nose.

I could feel my chest tighten as this wasn't a fragrance unfamiliar to me. It used to be my favorite until my twin sister started using it while lying to people that I loved her signature smell.

It made me so insecure that I had to change to another perfume but I could still recognize the smell of one that was once my favorite. Out of all places it was all over my husband's shirt.

This told me everything I needed to know. He didn't even remember that he had a wife. I pulled my tears back and placed the clothes aside. My eyes somehow fell on the red lipstick stain around the shirt's collar.

“What are you doing?" I heard Scario ask before I turned to look at him.

“Where did you spend the night?" I asked, looking him dead in the eyes.

“Stella, I'm not going to have this with you," he answered, applying lotion.

“Scario, I am your wife. Why would you—"

“Ella is my wife," he turned to say, and that echoed louder than anything in the back of my head.

“You…you're out of your mind. I can't believe what you're saying to me right now,” I shook my head.

“Stella, please, I have to get going. Don't forget to pass by my office and please don't—”

He picked up a call and I could tell that it was from Ella just by the way he was replying. I wanted to tell him about the baby, but after smelling that perfume and hearing how he responded, I just walked out of the room.

“Hey, hey take it easy. What's with the rush?" Audrey asked as I made my way down the staircase.

“I feel horrible for being in this whole thing," I said looking at her.

“What happened?" she whispered.

I told her everything that happened upstairs and she just couldn't believe Scario would be so disgusting. Knowing I was about to burst into tears she pulled me to the kitchen and then asked me to have coffee and gain a little strength.

A few minutes passed before we heard Scario leaving. I didn't even bother going to make sure if he had taken everything. My phone vibrated, and I didn't want to take Scario's mother's call, but that woman always had something to say, so I picked up.

“Stella, why are the documents I sent you still unsigned? I just knew you couldn't get anything right now that Ella—"

I pressed the call end button before she could complete that sentence. There's nothing that I needed more than not listening to her noise.

“How do you keep up with that witch?" Audrey asked.

"I honestly don't know.”

We finished and then went to the living room. I felt a little exhausted so I took a nap while Audrey went home to freshen up. I was so deep in my sleep that I didn't even hear Ella walk in.

“Hello dear sister," I heard her voice say before my eyes shot open.

“Ella," I said upright.

“Don't tell me you're surprised to see me?" she smiled.

“What are you doing here and who gave me the keys to my house?"

“Your house?" she lifted her brows before chuckling.

“Yes my house," I stood up.

“My darling fiancè Scario Ford gave me the keys to our soon-to-be house, or should I say my soon-to-be house, poor sister?" she asked.

" Ella, what are you talking about?” I asked before she lifted her hand and showed me her finger.

“No!"

" Scario and I are getting married so you might as well get going.”

“Get out of my house," I pointed to the lift.

CHAPTER 23 Stella I was in my office enjoying the snack Derrick had bought me before a message popped up on my screen. I didn't want to open it but something seemed odd about its subject. “You thought you were smart?" What could that even mean? I opened the message and found a picture of paper I wish I had gotten rid of. My stomach dropped and I almost struggled to sit upright. “Is everything OK ma'am?" I heard Maria ask as she walked into my office. “Yes. I…I'm fine,” I responded, my eyes still wondering who could have sent me that email. I quickly replied, asking the person what they wanted, only for them to respond with a number I was supposed to call. I was at first hesitant, but I needed to know who it was, so I dialed the number. “Who are you?" I asked before a familiar laugh came from the other end. “You've got to be kidding me right?" Ella replied. "Ella!” "Yes bitch, it's me now. Listen carefully, OK. Scario is fuming about your pregnancy. If you know what's goo

CHAPTER 22 Scario My mom had thrown an event to welcome our new investors and I'd be there even if I didn't want to. I took a glass of champagne and then began to look around, hoping that I'd spot Ella, but she was nowhere to be seen. “Already looking for your fiancèe huh?" I heard Blake ask as he came to stand in front of me with a sarcastic smile. “No I was looking for my dad," I lied since he enjoyed laughing at me. “OK, I've invited Audrey to the event, so please don't cause a scene," he said while I looked at him in disbelief. “Why would you do such a thing? You know my Mom won't like that," I looked at Blake with disappointment. “I doubt she's the only one who'd not be happy about Audrey then." “I'm not too but her presence is highly needed around here,” Blake smiled before Audrey came to wrap her hand around his arm. “Shall we?" she said to him with a bright smile that couldn't even remind her that she had not greeted me. “What level of disrespect do you want to disp

CHAPTER 21 Stella “Audrey what did you do?" I finally asked. “I'm the one behind the media's interest in the Fords' lives,” she said while I wondered what was even going on. "Audrey, did something bad happen?” "A crazy narrative about how the Fords leave their heir to get into crazy relationships is going around and the public isn't happy about what Scario did with your marriage,” she said. "You didn't have to do that. I'm OK here.” " You could be but that fool had to pay some way. I'm not even done with him yet.” "Wait, does anyone know about this?” I asked Audrey. "Not at all. I'm surprised Blake thinks I'd make things go away. I made sure to indirectly start another rumor,” she laughed. “I don't want you to be putting your career on the line for me Audrey. This could be dangerous," I worried. “Agh forget that. How's the pregnancy going?" she asked before I heard Derrick whisper pregnancy from the door. “Stella is everything OK?" Audrey asked, but I ended the call, prom

CHAPTER 20 Stella I'd just gotten back from the office so I took a seat on the couch while Maria went to get my food. I was now about to remove my heels when a knock sounded on my door, and I asked who it was, only for the person to walk in instead. I looked at who it was and realized that Clara had come to my suite again. “What are you doing here?" I asked before standing up. “I'm sorry for coming unannounced Stella. I just wanted to pass by and spend some time with you. I've heard some really nice things about you from Derrick," she smiled about taking a seat when I blocked her way. “I don't know what Derrick has told you about me but I'd appreciate it if you left. I'm not in the mood to make friends OK," I pointed to the door. “Stella, you don't have to be so hostile. Derrick and I are actually planning a wedding, and I was just jealous he was seeing someone else, but when I found out it was you. I regretted not believing what he had told me," she said. “Clara, I don't wan

I don't remember wanting you here anyway,” I arrogantly pointed to the door. "Great. Mr. White, if I'd known this would happen, I wouldn't even have bothered to come,” she turned to tell Blake about walking out when he blocked her way. " Scario, you need to apologize to Ms. Moon. She's the only one who can handle this entire situation," Blake said, but my pride wouldn't let me listen to that. “I've nothing to lose, OK. She's not here to clean the mess I'm sure she's just looking for more data on me," I responded to Blake. “What a joke Scario Ford? You think I have time to make headlines for someone like you who makes disgusting decisions?” she smirked. “OK, that's enough, everyone, it's either we work together or nothing. I'm not going to listen to you two exchange words because of someth

CHAPTER 18 Scario My mother left, and I was now alone in my office, trying to update everything I had missed out on when my best friend, Blake, walked in. “Looks like somebody isn't going to lunch today," he said before taking a seat on the other side. “I'm a busy man. How are the deals going on your end?" I responded. “Terrible. I don't know but something seems to have shifted ever since Stella stopped coming." “Really now? Don't make it sound like she was the one doing everything around here. We're a fully functioning company before her shadow even reached us," I said with a scoff. “You really aren't getting it, Scario. Stella is a genius. She's so conscious about—" “I think you should go to lunch," I cut him off since I didn't want anything to do with Stella. She's finally about to be a dead part of my life so nothing about her would return. I hated how Blake just saw her as a good person while we all knew the terrible things she had done. “OK fine.
