We both turned and looked at the front door as we heard gravel crunch in the driveway. Rosy went to get up to check who it was, but I put up a hand to stop her.
“No need,” I sighed, grabbing my coffee and heading towards the door myself.“It’s Dylan.”I glanced down at my outfit and suddenly felt mildly self conscious. I was wearinga red push up sports bra and basketball shorts. It had just been Rosy and I, so there hadbeen no need to put on actual clothes. Now I wished that I had put on a shirt, but it was too late.I could sense him before he even stepped out of his vehicle.Stupid mate bond, I grumbled. You love it, Amanda purred. He wasn’t driving his cruiser, which told me he wasn’t on duty. Rosy sat down with a grin and sipped her coffee, “Have fun.”I gave her a playful glare before I turned around to refill my cup and walked out the front door. I made sure to disguise mine and Rosy’s scents, so he would still think we were human. He was leaning on his truck when I stepped outside. It was a pretty black Chevy Silverado with a 4 inch lift. Dylan was wearing a gray tank top that showed his biceps, which damn near made my jaw drop. He was also wearing blue jeans and brown cowboy boots. Overall he looked yummy.I took a sip of my coffee as I smiled and leaned against one of the beams on the porch.“To what do I owe the pleasure this evening Officer?” I questioned, with a playful tone. “Come to arrest me?”He looked surprised for a moment before I winked at him.He shook his head with a chuckle, “Gosh, you are something else you know that?”I grinned, “Yep, I know. So what can I do for you?”He sighed, “Well I noticed that today, when I met you, that I thought you were an absolutely astonishing woman, and I know it’s not exactly professional, but I wanted to come out here and ask if you’d like to go get coffee with me sometime?”“You came out here to ask me on a date, Officer?” I tilted my head in confusion, trying to play off like I truly was a clueless human.Dylan looked down at his feet for a minute, before walking up to the porch. “Yes,” he smiled, “I came to ask you on a date.”I glanced down at my coffee.Say yes! Amanda squealed.I smiled up at him, “I’d love to.”He broke into a huge grin.“Gimme your phone,” I held out my hand.He reached into his back pocket and pulled out his phone, placing it in my hand. The moment his fingertips hit my palm, sparks erupted through my hand. I jerked back,my hand tightening around his phone, and a look of shock spreading across both our faces.I chuckled nervously, “Must have been some static electricity.”He relaxed a little, seeming to think I was human and clueless to the mate bond.“Yeah, it happens.”I put my number into his phone, and handed him it back, careful not to let our skin touch again.“Anna?” He smiled at me.I blushed slightly. I loved the way my name rolled off his lips. “Yes, that’s my name,” I mumbled.“Well I shall text you later Anna,” he grinned excitedly, turning to head back tohis truck.“I look forward to it Dylan,” I blushed even harder. His voice was intoxicating. He paused and turned back to me, “How do you know my name?”I looked down at the ground, “I looked at your nametag when you were here earlier.”“Hmm,” he thought for a moment. “Okay, I can’t believe you remembered my name.”“Well you’re kinda too good looking to forget,” I mumbled with a smile on my face.“Oh?” He asked, obviously he had heard me.Stupid werewolf hearing, I thought.“Goodnight Dylan,” I grinned, turning around and heading back into the house.“Goodnight Anna,” he smiled, hopping back into his truck. As my hand wrapped around the doorknob, the air thickened. Dylan had just started up his truck, but threw his door open when I paused.“Hey!” He shouted, “Are you okay?”I turned back to him, trying to hold in the panic that was growing inside me.Before I could speak, Rosy came running out the door, almost knocking me on my ass.She glanced at him, but didn’t seem to care too much at the moment. She handed me my crossbow and sword, and together we ran to the backyard, with Dylan right on our heels. There’s never been 2 breaches in 1 day, I linked Rosy.I know! This is insane! She replied, shooting me a fearful side glance.“What’s going on?” Dylan yelled, catching up to us quite quickly.Fuck, he’s fast, I smiled, skidding to a halt 20 yards from the portal.Dylan was on my right, staring at me like he wanted answers. Rosy was on my left, with her crossbow strapped to her left arm, and her sword in her right.I quickly strapped my crossbow to my right and had my sword in my left. I had learned a long time ago that Rosy and I were not always the same.“Anna!” Dylan tried to get my attention.I whirled around and glared up at him, “I do not have time to explain this!” His eyes widened, and for a moment he looked startled. “There are about to be a lot of people in this yard, and if you wanna help, fine!” I offered him my sword. “Make yourself useful if you want to help us!”He took a little longer to take it than I expected, but after a few seconds he took my sword, and faced the spiral that was now appearing.I drew my knife from the side of my bra, and readied the bow.Dylan glanced at me, “What
God I’m such a Simp! I rolled my eyes at myself as I closed the truck door.Amanda was chuckling at me.It’s not funny! What the fuck are wolves doing on my property? I growled angrily. One of the wolves, he was black with white paws, charged at me, teeth bared. He was significantly smaller than Dylan, and smaller than me, but he was fast. He wasn’t fast enough though. I dodged his leap and rolled to the right, watching in amusement as he slammed into the truck door. He shook his head and growled at me, stalking towards me. I bared my fangs at him, daring him to try to strike. He didn’t get the chance to try before Dylan came charging from around the house. He tackled the black wolf and pinned him under his massive paws.I clicked into their mind link to listen.--my mate! Touch her again and you will lose your life! Dylan growled at him. That’s your mate! The wolf replied, and that’s when I realized she was female. It also angered me that my mate was touching another female.
I gave her a huge grin, “I freaking love you!”“This is why we are sisters,” She chuckled. The 3 of us sat at the kitchen table drinking coffee. Neither Rosy, nor I, had taken a shower yet. Our first need, and want, was coffee. That was essential to our survival.Rosy broke the silence first by slurping her coffee loudly, making Dylan and I look at her.“So, what’s gonna happen now?” She wondered.I took another gulp of coffee, “What do you mean?”She gestured between Dylan and I, “You guys are mates, and he’s the Alpha. So what does that mean for us?”I shrugged and looked at Dylan, “I can’t leave here, Dylan. I have to stay.”He looked shocked, “But you’re my mate! You’re supposed to be my Luna, and help me look over the pack!”I shook my head, “I have obligations here. I have responsibilities that I will not leave.”Dylan looked more pouty with each word that came out of my mouth. “I am not just going to leave Rosy here by herself to fight the dead. That’s not something I
I took another sip of my coffee before speaking. What I had to say shocked both of them.“I, Roxanne Fisher, hereby reject you, Dylan McGuire, as my mate,” I stated with a hiss.A pain spread through my chest as soon as I finished the sentence. I put a hand to my chest with a grimace, while Dylan growled in pain.“I, Dylan McGuire, hereby accept your rejection,” he mumbled through the pain. The pain that erupted through us was worse than I could ever have imagined. My chest felt like it was on fire and being turned inside out. I fell out of my chair and howled. I curled up in a ball and cried. Amanda yowled and whined before she retreatedcrying.Dylan wasn’t farring much better. He had his head on the table, tears streaming down his face onto the hard surface. I knew that this was wrong to do, but it had to be done. I wasn’t going to give in and just leave to be a Luna.Another pain spread through my abdomen and I cried out again. Dylan hopped out of his chair and kneeled down
I awoke to a dark room. From my position, and my comfort, I could tell I was in my bed. I slowly opened my eyes. My head was pounding, and my vision was spotty for a few moments. I groaned as I sat up. Amanda was curled up in the fetal position in the back of my mind. Were you there for all of that? I asked her. She groaned, Yes, I was. I just sat back and listened. She left it at that, and went back to curling up. I knew she wasn’t going to be fine for a little bit. I just needed to give her time. I sighed and rubbed my eyes, my feet dangling off the edge of my bed. My curtains were closed, leaving my room very dark. I grunted as I stood up. My legs almost gave out beneath me, but I caught myself on the bedpost. I was wearing a pair of black basketball shorts, and my favorite neon blue sports bra. Slowly, I walked over and threw my curtains open. I heard someone grumble behind me, and I whirled around hissing. Dylan was in my recliner, waking up. His hair was messy, and it loo
The moment I stepped outside my room I was hit with a heavenly scent. It was the delicious smell of coffee. I raced down the stairs into the kitchen. Rosy was sitting at the table looking somber, but her face lit up when she saw me.“ANNA!” She squealed, jumping up and wrapping me in a hug.“Hey Rosy,” I chuckled. “Good to see you too!”She pulled back, grabbing me by my shoulders, and looking into my eyes. She gasped, “Your eyes look different!”I gasped, “What’s wrong with them?”She smiled, “Nothing is wrong per say, but your left eye is gold now. Like a bright vibrant gold.”“So is yours!” I pointed out. “Your right eye is gold!”I pulled out of her grip and we ran to the bathroom to look in the mirror. I saw my reflection and put my hand up to my face in shock. My left eye was gold, and it was pretty.Rosy did the same. “What happened?” She wondered.“I met the Moon Goddess,” I explained. “She said I would be a bit different when I came back. I guess this is what she me
“So you do handle more than the portal?” He wondered. “We handle rogues that get too close,” I spoke while holding my coffee cup close. “Any supernatural that poses a threat to us, humans, or anyone for that matter, we handle. We’ve even handled vampires,” I mumbled the last part. I never had the best impression of vampires. The Moon Goddess was right. Our parents never wanted us to be a part of the supernatural world. Normally we would have been raised knowing who and what we were, but we didn’t know till we were 7 years old. Vampires had stumbled onto our property and our parents had been sleeping. I had wanted something to drink and saw the movement out the window. When I went to run to my parents room, the front door flew off its hinges and knocked me back into the kitchen. The sound of the door and my scream, had awoken my sister and my parents. They dealt with the situation, but not before a vampire had gotten ahold of my mom. He didn’t kill her, but that was when Rosy
A pain erupted through my back as the wolves claws finally came down, causing me to howl in pain.He hissed, and his eyes flared in anger, as he slid out from under me, putting his body in front of mine. Protecting me from any further injuries.“Enough!” Dylan shouted, his voice radiating across the yard. The wolves froze, and the vampires turned to him expectedly.“We do not have a quarrel with these vamps,” Dylan strode towards his pack members. “SHIFT!”His Alpha tone made them all return to their human forms. A female stood over my mate and I, with a smirk on her face. She was proud of the pain she had inflicted.“Mate,” Dylan mumbled, staring at her.She looked up at him and smiled, “Mate.”Dylan looked at my bloody back at her feet, and the blood that covered her hands, and his face hardened. “I, Dylan McGuire, reject y-”He was cut off by me pulling myself off the ground and throwing myself at him, tackling him sideways.I pinned him by the throat, growling at him, “R
