Olivia's POV

After the Night

He leaned in. Slow. Hesitant. Giving me time to pull away. That was the point. I didn't pull away.

His lips touched mine. Soft. Gentle. Sweet.

I kissed him back.

The kiss deepened. His hand found my waist. His fingers curled around my robe. My hand moved up his chest. His skin was warm. His heart was pounding.

He pulled me closer. I let him. He deepened the kiss. I matched him.

It was a good feeling. It's been so long.

But something was wrong. I was thinking about Na

  • The Wrong Bride Returns   Chapter 105 I Am Not Negligent

Olivia's POV I Am Not Negligent Charlotte nodded. A moment later, she returned with Emma and Noah. They were holding hands. Smiling. They didn't know what was happening."Mommy!" Emma ran to me. She threw her arms around my waist. "We were playing dinosaurs!"Noah followed. He was quieter. He looked at the strangers. His eyes were wary."Hi," he said softly.Diane Fletcher smiled and knelt down. She was at their level."Hello, Noah. Hello, Emma. I'm Diane. I'm here to make sure you're doing okay.""We're okay," Emma said. "We have dinosaurs.""That's wonderful." Diane looked at Mr. Reeves. "We'll need to do a physical check."My blood ran cold."A physical check?" I repeated."Just to make sure there are no signs of abuse or neglect. It's standard procedure."Nathan stepped forward. His voice was sharp."That's not necessary."Mr. Reeves spoke for the first time. His voice was flat."It is necessary. We have a duty to ensure the children are safe.""They are safe. Look at them. They

  • The Wrong Bride Returns   Chapter 104 The One Visit That Changed Everything

Olivia’s POV The One Visit That Changed Everything"About what?"The question hung between us like a blade suspended mid-fall.Nathan stood on my doorstep, his green Aston Martin gleaming behind him like a predator in the pale morning light. His jaw was tight. His eyes were tired. He looked like a man who hadn't slept in days."I've been calling you since yesterday," he said. "You haven't been responding. I just wanted to say hi. And to see the kids."I stared at him. My mind was still reeling from the gossip at the birth certificate office. The whispers. The lies. The cruelty of strangers who didn't know me."The kids are home," I said. "But they're expecting a visitor soon."Nathan's brow furrowed. "A visitor? Who?"I hesitated. The words felt heavy in my mouth. "Child services called me yesterday. They're coming to check on the kids. Someone must have reported me for neglect or abuse."The color drained from Nathan's face. His hands curled into fists at his sides."Who?""I don't

  • The Wrong Bride Returns   Chapter 103 Please Don't breathe a Word About Last Night

Nathan’s POVPlease Don't breathe a Word About Last Night"No," I whispered. "No, no, no."My hands were shaking. My head was pounding. The room and sheets looked disarrayed. For a few seconds, I went blank. “Fuck,” I whispered. I looked at Miranda. She was sitting up in my bed, the sheet pulled to her chest, her hair a tangled mess. She was watching me with those dark eyes. Waiting for me to say something. This was the first time in a long while I saw this calm, looking clueless and innocent."What did you do?" My voice came out rough. Broken. "What the hell did you do?"Miranda blinked. Her face changed. The lazy smile faded. "What did I do? What are you insinuating?""You took advantage of me." I stood up. The sheet fell away. I didn't care. I grabbed my pants from the floor. I pulled them on. My hands were trembling so hard I could barely grip the fabric. "I was drunk. I was out of my mind. And you let this happen.""I was drunk too, Nathan." Her voice was sharp now. Defensive. "

  • The Wrong Bride Returns   Chapter 102 One Night 3

Nathan's POVOne Night 3Miranda laughed. She pulled me onto a couch. "He's taken."The dancer pouted. She walked away. Her hips swayed. She looked back over her shoulder. She winked.Another dancer appeared. She was shorter. Blonde. A red dress. She sat on the arm of the couch. Her hand found my thigh. Her fingers walked upward."You're tense," she said. "I can help with that."I shook my head. "No. Thanks."She leaned closer. Her lips brushed my jaw. "You sure?"Miranda grabbed her wrist sharp and slow. "He said no."The blonde shrugged. She stood up and disappeared into the crowd.A third dancer approached. She didn't speak. She just sat on the couch beside me. Her body pressed against mine. Her hand slid up my chest. Her lips found my neck.I closed my eyes. The whiskey was spinning in my head."Miranda," I said. "I need to go home."She looked at me. Her face was soft. "Okay. Let's go."I tried to stand. My legs gave out. I fell back onto the couch.Miranda grabbed my arm. She pu

  • The Wrong Bride Returns   Chapter 101 One Night 2

Nathan's POVOne Night 2Miranda came back holding two glasses of something amber and strong. She set one in front of me. The glass clinked against the table. She didn't sit down across from me and sat beside me. Close. Her knee touched mine. Her perfume wrapped around me like a second skin. Her eyes moved over my face slowly. Deliberately. The way a woman looks at a man when she wants him to notice her.I noticed but I didn’t think much about it because Miranda has always been like that from the very beginning. "One night," I said. The words felt heavy in my mouth. "That's what I said earlier.”"That's what I said." She lifted her glass. Her lips curved into that sharp, knowing smile. "One night to forget everything. One night to stop being Nathan Hayes, the man who thinks he has ruined his own life. Just for a few hours."I lifted my glass and clinked it against hers."One night," I repeated. We took a sip from the glass of alcohol in harmony. The whiskey went down smooth. It warme

  • The Wrong Bride Returns   Chapter 100 One Night

NATHAN'S POVThe PenthouseThe whiskey burned as it went down my throat.I sat in the dark inside my penthouse. The only light came from the city sprawled beneath my floor-to-ceiling windows. The city glittered like a handful of broken glass. Beautiful. Sharp. Indifferent. The glass was cold in my hand. The ice had melted but not fully. It diluted the whiskey into something pale.My phone lay silent on the table beside me. I had called Olivia several times today. She hadn't answered once. Not a single call. Not a single text. Nothing. The front door opened.I didn't turn around. I didn't need to. The click of heels against marble told me everything I needed to know."Hello, stranger."Miranda's voice was bright. Teasing. Completely out of place in the darkness of my penthouse. She walked toward me like she owned the place."Miranda." I didn't look at her. "It's late.""It's not that late." She stopped beside the couch. I could see her silhouette in the window reflection. Glittery shor

Olivia's povTwo hefty men were standing outside my door. I didn't know either of them. No uniforms, just dark suits. Olivia's pov“You are marrying Nathan Hayes and that is final.”My father's voice didn't have anything in it. It came out flat like my destiny had been decided already.
