The elevator car descended to the bottom floor and she exited, hoping to find more buildings in the large area; there was still only Bella's Boutique. She skipped across the open space until she was standing in front of the door. The lights were on, and she gave the door a pull; it opened and she walked in.

Aria was surprised to see that the Boutique was full of other shoppers. She stopped and turned to look back into the open space, wondering where all of them had come from.

Her words took Aria by surprise, and she wasn't sure she'd heard them right, but before she could ask Savannah to repeat herself, Savannah took her by the hand and practically dragged her down the hallway until they arrived at the only door — which looked like an old bank vault. The circular door was enormous, easily fifteen feet in diameter, with hundreds of gears visible behind a transparent cover."That's a really cool fucking door," Aria said.Savannah started spinning a small dial. Her fingers worked quickly, and soon Aria heard a click. Savannah spun the large wheel, and slowly a section of the hallway began to retract."Wait, the vault door is just a decoy?" Aria asked."It has a dual purpose," Savannah answered. "Anyone able to crack the combination will gain access to a small horde of credits and items, which will hopefully deter them. It will also trigger several traps and silently alert all Sisters of Silence members.""Is being a safe cracker a profession?" Aria asked as S

Hovering by the curb was something that looked like a mechanical dolphin. The machine was made of metal and covered in gears that spun as the tail moved up and down. She wasn't sure how the vehicle hovered, because the movement of the tail wasn't it."Hello, Aria," a red-headed woman called from where she sat on a saddle on the dolphin's back. She held reins connected to a bridle in the machine's mouth. "I'm Carmen, and I'm here to bring you back to the guild hall."Carmen had her hair pulled up in a bun on top of her head, with dark glasses resting on her forehead. She wore black and copper striped slacks and a short copper waistcoat. Under the waistcoat was a white shirt whose long sleeves were hidden by copper-colored gloves that went up to her elbows. Her boots looked more combat style than not, but they had cogs covering them that moved when she moved her feet.Aria turned her attention to the workings of the dolphin and didn't immediately see Carmen's extended hand. She stepped

Aria stretched in her bed and was greeted by a friendly lick on the face. She knew who the culprit was before she even opened her eyes."Good morning, Midnight," she said with a smile. She reached up and flipped him onto his back to give him a belly rub. Midnight was happy to have his belly rubbed, until Aria stopped and gave him a snuggle before getting out of bed.She looked around the room to see if anything had changed, but everything was just as she'd left it the night before. Her new outfit was folded neatly and resting on top of her hat — even the thong. She walked over, picked up the gloves, and put them on before heading to the bathroom. Before she started the shower, she looked at her reflection with the gloves on and smiled at the noticeable change to her figure. She smiled again when she thought of meeting Ramboli and Wilber and whether they would notice. As she considered the encounter, she wondered if they benefited from charisma-altering clothing too. What if Ramboli wa

Aria nodded absently while the woman took her hand and pulled her gently into the shop."I'm Bella," she smiled. "I'm going to let you know how shops work here."Now that Aria was in the shop, she turned her attention to Bella and what she was wearing. Bella was dressed in a black brocade bustle skirt, a black corset, a long-sleeved white button-down shirt, and black boots that came just above her knees to show plenty of thigh. S

She shook her head and looked down to make sure Midnight was following her. The two of them left the shop and made it back to the Safe House without encountering a zombie. She wondered if cleared areas stopped spawning lower-level mobs, and that was why she hadn't seen a shambler; she was going to have to ask Ramboli, or Wilber.Aria entered her Safe House and the podium rose from the floor."Please insert the coin in the slot."She patted her pockets until she found the disk Wilber had given her and slid it into the slot. It started to descend into the floor, and she took the elevator up to her apartment. She could hardly wait for the door to her place, and hopped softly on the balls of her feet until there was enough room to slide in and access the terminal.Level Up — 2 Skill Points to UseName: AriaLevel: 6Profession: AssassinRace: HumanHealth: 48Strength: 10Intelligence: 17Wisdom: 13Dexterity: 18Constitution: 11Charisma: 12Skills: Bloodshed — Rookie 3; Stealth — Novice

Aria made it out of the casino and to the bus stop without incident. Midnight stood by her side, scanning the surrounding area for movement and ready to alert her should he see anything. After a short time, she saw the bus rambling down the street, leaving a small cloud of exhaust in its wake."So first we will go to Wally's and cash in the quests," Aria said excitedly. "After that we will go home and drop Wilber's disk into the podium to see what kind of surprise it is.""Woof," he answered, his tail wagging happily."Do you think I should call someone about the box?" she asked. "Wilber or Ramboli might know the answer, but what if it's something really valuable? I don't think I need to advertise the discovery of some rare loot."The bus pulled up and the door opened. She climbed the steps, hoping Rubi would be riding too, but the bus was empty. She found a spot near the back and Midnight took the seat next to her. After several seconds of waiting, the doors closed and the bus lurche
