I stayed up the entire night going through paper work. We had another rouge attack the previous day and many of my people were injured. Some even lost their lives. The worst part was having to deliver to the news to their family. The sad look in their faces, the hopelessness. John was one of my trusted men. He was killed trying to protect the boarder. I personally went to inform his wife of the news and it crushed her. It's so sad. She's eight months pregnant and now the child will have to grow up without a dad. I banged my hand on the desk in anger. If only the crow pack hadn't attacked and weakened our defense systems two years ago. If only they hadn't poisoned my dad and left him bedridden. We never would have become a target for rouges and random packs to attack as they pleased. I was lost in thought when Jake, my beta knocked and entered. "Am guessing you've been here all night?" He asked with a worried look on his face. "I guess." I responded back. "Well it's almost time for school." At the mention of school I got up and headed straight for my room. After a couple of minutes I was at the living room where Jake was waiting for me. I just threw on a T-shirt and sweat pants, looking a bit more energetic. Jake gave me a weird look. "What?" I asked. "It won't hurt you to take a day off from the school. Especially... with all that's happened." He was right. I was beyond stressed and needed to rest but I knew it was impossible. I would just keep thinking about everything that's wrong with the pack. At least at school I could be able to be in her presence. That alone would make me feel ten times better. I've never really spoken to her and I don't think she would want me to. She doesn't seem to like me for some reason. I remember trying to talk to her once and she just passed me by, totally ignoring me. I know it's stupid of me to have gotten worked up over something like that but that's what happens when you like someone. We drove to school in my jeep and Jake sprinted to the training grounds to get everything ready. We've been having more physical training time for all students to make sure they can easily protect themselves in case any danger comes their way. I made my way to my locker to pick out some books for first period when I saw a small crowd forming ahead. When I looked closely I saw Natasha and her friends confronting Alexis. Knowing Natasha's character it doesn't take a genius to know what's going on. I moved in long strides and made my way to them. "Is everything okay here?" I asked looking directly at Alexis. "Everything is fine." Natasha responded in that unbearable tone of hers. I continued to look at Alexis hoping she'd say anything. She couldn't even meet my eyes which kinda hurt. Next thing I knew the bell had rang and she immediately left. Natasha was saying something to me but I wasn't paying attention. Before I could stop myself I started moving in the same direction that Alexis took. As I about to reach her a boy walked up to her and she stopped to talk to him. She had this smile on her face that made me both happy and angry. I was happy because her smile was just so cute but I was angry because she was smiling to some guy who wasn't me. I know I have no right to be angry, she doesn't belong to me..... but I wish she did. I've been in love with her for as long as I can remember but I never once told her. Besides the fact that we aren't even friends, I don't want to put her in an awkward situation. As werewolves we have our destined mates that the moon goddess herself created for us. I don't want things to be uncomfortable for her if I confessed my feelings and she found her mate. Though she might just dismiss me. A girl like that is too good for a guy like me. Who would want to be mated to an alpha who can't even protect his own pack. There's also the fact that I have my own mate out there who I'll soon find out because am turning eighteen in a few weeks. With that in mind I turned and headed towards my own class before I ended up doing something stupid.Alexis's pov I ended up in the infirmary more times than I would have liked to admit. Dorian was iron clad. Throughout these past weeks I'd only managed to throw a few punches and kicks here and there, though some of them seemed to cause him some sort of pain, which was still a win. But I had also noticed how much stronger I had gotten. My body moved faster and my attacks were more spot on. If I continued like this I'd be unstoppable. We also got to shift and learn to fight in our wolf form. At first I was uncomfortable, thinking that they too would look at my wolf form with disgust and tell me she's ugly, but it was far from it. They were actually amazed and shocked at how beautiful my wolf was, which was a contradiction to how Natasha had viewed her. I also noticed that I was noticeably bigger than all the wolves around me, even Dorian, all but Mason who was just as big as me. But his form was never a surprise since he was an alpha and they basically grew bigger and larger
Michael's pov I had stayed curled up on the floor for a while before realizing I had made a mistake. Why did I let her go? Why didn't I just hold on to her and stop her from leaving. We belong together. The moon goddess gave me the one thing I craved for and I let it go just like that- I let her go. I got up in a daze and drove back to the pack house. Instead of going straight to my room I went to the fifth floor, at the very end of the hall and knocked on the door. A middle aged woman opened the door. She had the same blue eyes and dark hair as mine. These past months had made her age over a decade, the youthful joy in her soul now an empty shell. "Mom." I said as I hugged her. She let me inside the room that was dark and smelt heavily of herbs and blood, despite looking completely clean. "Any improvement?" I asked even though I already knew the answer. "Not yet." She said it like she was certain things would get better eventually - like he would wake up an
Alexis's pov. The day went by so fast that I didn't even realize it was already getting dark. Rebecca sat next to me at a bench near the park where we were. Loads of shopping bags were laid next to our feet, most of them belonging to me.I don't know if it was okay for us to spend this much money just because Mason gave us his card to use. I actually wanted to buy only a few clothes but Rebecca insisted that we buy as many as possible since, and I'm quoting her words. "A girl can never have too many clothes." We'd literary gone to another town just to check out what she called new trendy stock. I had never once put too much thought in what I wore or what was trending in that particular moment but I guess there is a first time for everything. Rebecca was typing frantically on her phone like a maniac, clearly upset with whoever she was texting. Not long after a car pulled up in front of us and I recognized the boy behind the wheels since I had seen him at the pack house ear
Gideon's pov. I sat on my throne and watched as my men tore through Cyrus, one of the elders of the former white wolf pack. It wasn't easy finding the old bastard. He'd been leaving us trails all over different places. We even flew out to different states only to hit a dead end. But we finally found him, hiding within Moon crest pack. He was spying on some girl named Alexis. I figured she must be someone of importance and so I made a deal with those filthy rogues to spy on her and find out if she is something special in any way- in return I'd offer them supplies for their survival, to which they gladly agreed. They spent eight months trailing her only to find out she's a nobody cast away by her own pack. Last I heard she ran away and even her own mate did not care to stop her. How pathetic. But I had no time to ponder over such useless things. What I really wanted was to get my hands on the lunar essence, a power so strong it would make me a god among every werewolf. No one would
Alexis's pov I had walked for nearly three hours, the weight of my duffle bag making my shoulders hurt. I didn't know how far I was or which direction I was heading to but anywhere was better than my old pack. I wasn't relieved to go as my heart kept aching from not being close to my mate. But it had to be done. Natasha was probably right, maybe those rogues would stop attacking once they found out I've left. But why were they even spying on me for? Do they know something about me that I don't? I was so lost in thought that I did not even notice when a car pulled up infront of me. "You're a far way from home miss." said a familiar voice. When I looked to the driver's seat I was met with a pair of brown eyes. It was the boy from the diner who tipped me twice. "What happened, got kicked out of the pack?" He was rubbing salt on my fresh wound by saying that. He must have noticed the look on my face that indicated I was about to cry so he asked me. "Do you know where you're go
Michael's pov Alexis's friend, the boy who is always following her around, called out to her as she ran out of the classroom. He was about to chase after her when I growled at him. He stopped dead in his tracks but still gave me a fierce look. "She's my friend. I need to check if she's okay." I hated the fact that she was closer to another male than me. Without bothering I stared right back at him as I said. "She's my mate." I didn't want people finding out like this but I was too desperate to form some sort of connection with her and this was all I had. I could hear some of the students whispering amongst themselves but I didn't care what they had to say. I marched out and started to look for Alexis. It wasn't hard to find her since my wolf knew her scent. I found her at the roof top still trying to calm herself down. She was startled when she saw me. It was obvious that I was the last person that she wanted to see right now. "Can we just talk." My voice sounded
