Michael's pov I stayed up the entire night going through paper work. We had another rouge attack the previous day and many of my people were injured. Some even lost their lives. The worst part was having to deliver to the news to their family. The sad look in their faces, the hopelessness. John was one of my trusted men. He was killed trying to protect the boarder. I personally went to inform his wife of the news and it crushed her. It's so sad. She's eight months pregnant and now the child will have to grow up without a dad. I banged my hand on the desk in anger. If only the crow pack hadn't attacked and weakened our defense systems two years ago. If only they hadn't poisoned my dad and left him bedridden. We never would have become a target for rouges and random packs to attack as they pleased. I was lost in thought when Jake, my beta knocked and entered. "Am guessing you've been here all night?" He asked with a worried look on his face. "I guess." I responded back.

Michael's pov "Shut up." I said furiously to Jake as he continued to laugh at me from the passenger sit. "Dude you scared her so much she practically sprinted away." He said still laughing. "I didn't mean to. You know how I feel about her and I didn't like that she was so close to you. I know I sound stupid but ya. Am madly in love with this girl. And it's driving me crazy." He looked at me for a few seconds. "You could try talking to her for once." I scoffed at that. A few minutes later we arrived at the pack house. It was huge with massive floors. The first four floors were inhabited by ordinary pack members who worked overtime and did not have time to constantly move from their homes to here for pack business. They're each given self contained rooms where they can live with their mates. Their children are also given their own rooms for privacy. Michael's pov. It had been two weeks since I growled at Alexis and scared her off. I don't even know why I did it. I get that am in love with her but that was beyond me. My wolf had suddenly become enraged when I saw her on top of Jake with that cute smile playing on her lips. Baron, my wolf almost took control entirely. Am glad that Jake helped me snap back to reality. I decided to take a break from school to avoid anything like that from happening a second time. Though my thoughts kept drifting back to her. I decided to keep myself busy with pack duties. I'd gotten a larger number of recruits than I'd expected and they were also good at fighting. It brought a sense of security among the people and other rouges that were once bold to attack us kept their distance.
