On my way to the classroom Nathan approached me. "Hey stranger." I couldn't help but smile at that. He was the first friend I ever made back in the pack house. At first I thought he'd grow tired of me as time went on but he stuck around till this day. He's practically my best friend and family. Plus the only reason school isn't so unbearable. "So basing on that look on your face you ran into trouble again." It wasn't a surprise that he'd guess. He's been with me long enough to know every emotion of mine and what it meant . "Just Natasha being the usual bitch that she is..... nothing I can't handle." I responded. "She's worse than a bitch. She thinks she's untouchable. Someone has to put her in her place." Nathan has always hated Natasha even when we were still little and most kids wanted to be her friend he'd completely ignored her. He even almost got into a fight with her the day she slapped me and falsely accused me of stealing. It was so bad that they called his mom. If the former beta wasn't a reasonable person Nathan would have been seriously punished. "Well every dog has its day. She'll get a taste of her own medicine one day." As we we're talking I felt a presence behind me, like someone was there... watching.... but when I turned there was no one in sight. Must have been my imagination. We headed in and took our seats next to each other. Time flew by as we studied calculus and before I knew it the bell sounded. Our next class was combat training which I dreaded for specific reasons. I parted with Nathan and headed for my locker. I'd always wait till all the girls were gone before changing because every time they saw me they'd make fun of my body. To them having a little bit of fat on you was considered ugly and I hated the way they'd make fun of my body until I myself started feeling insecure about it. Our uniforms were the same. fitted leather pants with a tank top and combat boots. As I walked into the training room I spotted Stacey, Nathan's girlfriend and mate. She motioned for me to go to her which I did. "What's going on?" I asked as I gave her a brief hug. "We're training with the boys starting today onwards and every girl seems to be excited about it." She said. I could feel the color drain from my face. It was bad enough that I had to be made fun of by the girls but now the boys too. "Hey it's gonna be fine. No one will bother you." She said as though she knew what was going on in my mind. As if on cue the boys matched into the training room dressed in leather pants, combat boots and fitted shirts, same as ours. Some of the girls started pretending to stretch in a seductive way to get the boys' attention and it seemed to be working as some of them started approaching those said girls and talking. Nathan spotted us from a distance and ran towards us, giving his girlfriend a kiss on the chick. Typical love birds I thought to myself. Jake walked in a few minutes later with Michael. We all went into line forming a circle around them. "As you all know we've been getting attacked more often and have lost some of our good soldiers." Michael said in calm tone that held a lot of authority in it. "I need you all at your best to prepare for what's coming next. Strength and resilience will determine whether or not you have what it takes to beat the enemy." "You will be paired up, male and female and train together to better yourselves." One of the boys raised his hands. "Will we be able to pick out who we wanna train with." He asked already eyeing one of the girls with a smirk. "No. You'll pick slots to determine your partner" And just like that we spent the next twenty minutes drawing out slots and finding our partners. When it reached to me I was surprised to find out I was with Jake himself. I felt heat rise to my face as I walked towards him. It felt awkward. ""So your my sparing buddy." He said with a grin as I approached him. "I guess so." I smiled awkwardly. "Look who's finally getting attention." I heard Natasha say from behind me. "She thinks she's special just because she's with the beta." Her friends sneakered. Jake saw my discomfort and shot them a fierce look which made them to shut up. "Thanks." I said shyly. "No need. " He replied. "Whoever messes with my partner messes with me." He said with a dramatic look on his face. I couldn't help but laugh. He was funny and kind. Not at all what I expected and I liked it. At least I won't be having a hard time with him.... hopefully. We went through the usual drills which involved running, push ups and sparing one on one with new partners. Jake was a hand full but I could tell he was holding back a lot. "Tomorrow we'll be doing weapons." He said to us as we finished up our last rounds. Before I could go he called out to me. "You did pretty good today. But I might have to be a little harder on you next time." "I totally get it." I replied. "Also..... can we exchange contacts since we're partners and all." That caught me by surprise but I agreed. He saved me as Lexy with a heart emoji and I rolled my eyes at him while laughing. My eyes swept the room and came across Michael standing a few feet away from us. He looked angry as he stared directly at me. Maybe he thought I wasn't good enough to be with his beta. "I should probably go." I said to Jake as I ran for the lockers.Alexis's pov I ended up in the infirmary more times than I would have liked to admit. Dorian was iron clad. Throughout these past weeks I'd only managed to throw a few punches and kicks here and there, though some of them seemed to cause him some sort of pain, which was still a win. But I had also noticed how much stronger I had gotten. My body moved faster and my attacks were more spot on. If I continued like this I'd be unstoppable. We also got to shift and learn to fight in our wolf form. At first I was uncomfortable, thinking that they too would look at my wolf form with disgust and tell me she's ugly, but it was far from it. They were actually amazed and shocked at how beautiful my wolf was, which was a contradiction to how Natasha had viewed her. I also noticed that I was noticeably bigger than all the wolves around me, even Dorian, all but Mason who was just as big as me. But his form was never a surprise since he was an alpha and they basically grew bigger and larger
Michael's pov I had stayed curled up on the floor for a while before realizing I had made a mistake. Why did I let her go? Why didn't I just hold on to her and stop her from leaving. We belong together. The moon goddess gave me the one thing I craved for and I let it go just like that- I let her go. I got up in a daze and drove back to the pack house. Instead of going straight to my room I went to the fifth floor, at the very end of the hall and knocked on the door. A middle aged woman opened the door. She had the same blue eyes and dark hair as mine. These past months had made her age over a decade, the youthful joy in her soul now an empty shell. "Mom." I said as I hugged her. She let me inside the room that was dark and smelt heavily of herbs and blood, despite looking completely clean. "Any improvement?" I asked even though I already knew the answer. "Not yet." She said it like she was certain things would get better eventually - like he would wake up an
Alexis's pov. The day went by so fast that I didn't even realize it was already getting dark. Rebecca sat next to me at a bench near the park where we were. Loads of shopping bags were laid next to our feet, most of them belonging to me.I don't know if it was okay for us to spend this much money just because Mason gave us his card to use. I actually wanted to buy only a few clothes but Rebecca insisted that we buy as many as possible since, and I'm quoting her words. "A girl can never have too many clothes." We'd literary gone to another town just to check out what she called new trendy stock. I had never once put too much thought in what I wore or what was trending in that particular moment but I guess there is a first time for everything. Rebecca was typing frantically on her phone like a maniac, clearly upset with whoever she was texting. Not long after a car pulled up in front of us and I recognized the boy behind the wheels since I had seen him at the pack house ear
Gideon's pov. I sat on my throne and watched as my men tore through Cyrus, one of the elders of the former white wolf pack. It wasn't easy finding the old bastard. He'd been leaving us trails all over different places. We even flew out to different states only to hit a dead end. But we finally found him, hiding within Moon crest pack. He was spying on some girl named Alexis. I figured she must be someone of importance and so I made a deal with those filthy rogues to spy on her and find out if she is something special in any way- in return I'd offer them supplies for their survival, to which they gladly agreed. They spent eight months trailing her only to find out she's a nobody cast away by her own pack. Last I heard she ran away and even her own mate did not care to stop her. How pathetic. But I had no time to ponder over such useless things. What I really wanted was to get my hands on the lunar essence, a power so strong it would make me a god among every werewolf. No one would
Alexis's pov I had walked for nearly three hours, the weight of my duffle bag making my shoulders hurt. I didn't know how far I was or which direction I was heading to but anywhere was better than my old pack. I wasn't relieved to go as my heart kept aching from not being close to my mate. But it had to be done. Natasha was probably right, maybe those rogues would stop attacking once they found out I've left. But why were they even spying on me for? Do they know something about me that I don't? I was so lost in thought that I did not even notice when a car pulled up infront of me. "You're a far way from home miss." said a familiar voice. When I looked to the driver's seat I was met with a pair of brown eyes. It was the boy from the diner who tipped me twice. "What happened, got kicked out of the pack?" He was rubbing salt on my fresh wound by saying that. He must have noticed the look on my face that indicated I was about to cry so he asked me. "Do you know where you're go
Michael's pov Alexis's friend, the boy who is always following her around, called out to her as she ran out of the classroom. He was about to chase after her when I growled at him. He stopped dead in his tracks but still gave me a fierce look. "She's my friend. I need to check if she's okay." I hated the fact that she was closer to another male than me. Without bothering I stared right back at him as I said. "She's my mate." I didn't want people finding out like this but I was too desperate to form some sort of connection with her and this was all I had. I could hear some of the students whispering amongst themselves but I didn't care what they had to say. I marched out and started to look for Alexis. It wasn't hard to find her since my wolf knew her scent. I found her at the roof top still trying to calm herself down. She was startled when she saw me. It was obvious that I was the last person that she wanted to see right now. "Can we just talk." My voice sounded
