Chapter 5

"I can't live without him and you clearly know that, I would rather be dead than see him not close to me. I can't bear the feeling,"Rachel sobbed in her room and her mother Mrs Rodriguez and her nanny were at the door urging her to open and eat for she had not taken anything for the past 4 days.

Mrs Rodriguez was worried for her child and wondered how she would help her as she was not willing to talk to her and tell her what was the actual reason that Harry broke off their engagement that was set to happen in two weeks time. 

Rachel and Harry had been college sweetheart and known each other since they were little children. They went to the same highschool and college and were separated when Rachel went to live with her father in Spain but she came back and both Harry and Rachel rekindled their love and were to be engaged.

For the past one week, Rachel has been out of her mind, yelling and doing things that led her to pain. Mrs Rodriguez could not handle seeing her daughter in that state and she knew she would call the only person Rachel confided in, her father Mr Rodriguez. 

"You need to catch the next plane as soon as possible, she is turning into a masochist and am afraid of what she will do to herself next, she is not talking to me. I know we have our differences but let's get together for the sake of our daughter,"Mrs Rodriguez was heard talking to her ex husband. 

The next nine hours were the hardest for Mrs Rodriguez as Rachel was heard breaking things in her room and screaming her lungs out. Mrs Rodriguez asked for the keys to the room but Rachel threaten to kill herself if anyone dared open the door to her room.

Rachel felt guilty because she knew the reason for the engagement to be called of was her. Harry was running late from work and they were to meet in the Reyes' hotel in Harry's room. Rachel had the key to the room and so she let her self in. Harry had just called to let her know that she will be late and that she should eat before he arrives as they had planned to have dinner together. 

When Harry got to his hotel room he did not believe his eyes. The scene before him made him run out of breath. Rachel was being intimate with the gym instructor and when they saw Harry they both got scared. 

Harry's eyes were shot red as he looked at Rachel with disgust. He ran out of the hotel and drove away. One day after the incident, Harry called of the engagement and did not convey the reason for it. 

Harry's parents Mr and Mrs Reyes were not pleased with the call off as every prominent personnel in the city was invited to the engagement.

Mr Rodriguez arrived at the house and headed to his daughters door. As soon as he spoke the door to Rachel's room opened and Rachel came out with swelled up eyes. She let his father in and closed the door leaving her mother outside.

"Please baby, talk to me. What's wrong? Why did Harry call of the engagement? If you two can fix the problem then you should talk to him," Mr Rodriguez sympathized with her daughter. 

"He will never forgive me for what I did to him, I know he doesn't even want to see me let alone talk to me," Rachel spoke to his father uncontrollable tears fell down her cheek. 

"What did you do? He loves you am sure he will forgive you and you can both get engaged as you had planned. "Not this time dad, I cheated on him and he caught me red handed with Smith. He will never forgive me," Rachel confessed to his father 

"The gym guy?" I thought you ended things with him months ago," Mr Rodriguez was in a dilemma. "Yes I did but he followed me to the hotel room where we were to meet with Harry and I could not control myself around him so we ……"Rachel was unable to finish the statement because she was losing her breath she countinued "......and …and Harry caught us. 

"It's all my fault for allowing Smith come close to me knowing very well that I have a sexual history with him and we can't control ourselves around each other.

"Don't beat yourself up, everything is going to be alright and Harry will forgive you," Mr Rodriguez comforted Rachel

"I know him well dad he will not forgive me for cheating on him. He hates lies more than anything,"Rachel said to his father. "We will have to talk to Me Reyes about the situation and explain to him he will know how to handle the situation. 

Rachel got ready to head out together with his father with an aim of talking to Mr Reyes. Rachel went to the living room cabinet and took her car keys. Mrs Rodriguez was left at the door asking what they had talked about and where they were headed.

" I can never understand what is wrong with this generation,they think marriage is a joke they can call it off and on when they feel like it,"Mrs Reyes was angry and venting to his husband when they were both in the study room. 

"What has gotten into Harry? He called of his engagement with Rachel without giving us an appropriate reason as to his action. Now I wonder how the world sees us," she sonbed quietly. 

"I will find out what happened and I will fix this mess,try coming down or you blood pressure will shoot up and that will not be proper,"Mr Reyes said to his wife as he called the maid to take Mrs Reyes to her room to rest.

A car was heard approaching the compound and Mr Reyes looked out through the study rooms window and saw Mr Rodriguez and Rachel approaching the mansion.
