Chapter 6

Lazarus

It was perfect. She was perfect, sitting there upon my lap letting me touch her, letting me feel her soft behind against my thighs. She was so responsive, following every direction I gave her. And those little moans that escaped her when I touched her. I could smell her arousal, it was so strong that the smell filled the whole relaxing room. And her voice as she spoke was like music to my ears. Her body, so soft and light and her eyes are the most fascinating color I have ever seen. No one on Galdrion has eyes like that. Everything about her so far is more than I could have wished for.

Then all of sudden the moment was gone. Her breathing picked up, she wanted to get away from me, to be let down from my lap. Why? What happened? Something must have spooked her.

“No! No, no, no! I’m not doing this. I don’t want any alien babies with you, or any other alien for that matter. I want to go home now!” Her voice is shrill and I can hear the panic in it. And even if I know she’s speaking through her panic it hurts to hear her rejection. She holds up her hands, backing away from me. Her breathing is laboured and shallow, she’s hyperventilating. If she continues she will faint.

“Elina, listen to me. You have to calm down! Deep breaths!” I hurriedly step towards her, but it's like she can't see or hear me. Her eyes are wide and unfocused, her pupils dilated in fear. I reach out and grab her arms and hold her up. “Elina!” Her eyes roll back in her head and her body falls lax in my arms. Pure unadulterated fear spreads through my veins like liquid ice. I quickly pick up her lifeless body, holding it tight against mine and rush back to the examination room.

Nim is standing by the open door, still wringing her hands and shifting from one foot to the other. Her eyes widened with worry as she saw me rushing towards her with the lifeless human in my arms. She quickly stepps aside to let me in and I hurry over to the hospital bed and gently put Elina down. I step back to allow Skillys access to her.

Skillys nimble fingers start to place wires and tubes on her, in her arms, on her head, her chest and her fingers. It looks horrible and I remember those days before my mother passed. As she lay pale and lifeless in her bed with all those tubes and wires attached to her, the only things keeping her alive a few more days, a few more hours, a few more minutes.

“Is she going to die? What is wrong with her?” I hardly recognise my own voice. It's pitched and rushed. I feel my heart beat fast and hard in my chest and there is a pressure around my chest making it hard to breathe.

“Please Captain. Keep calm. Me have to take a look at her values before me knows what is wrong.” Skillys actually sounds irritated with me and my questions and I have to restrain myself from correcting his behaviour. He continues to work on Elina, pricking her with needles and taking her blood. He also administrer something to her bloodstream.

When he is pleased with all the tubes of blood, he turns to walk over to the counter in the room to put the tubes in different machines there. I try to follow my own internal instruction to breathe deep and slow. For crying out loud! I have special training in keeping calm and collected in pressured moments, but for some reason my training fails me today.

I reach out and take Elinas hand. I can feel the warmth of her skin and see the rise and fall of her chest as she breathes. It slowly calms me and I lean over her to gently brush my lips against her forehead.

After what feels like an eternity Skillys turns towards me with a smile on his thin lips. “All is well with the human. It seems it only fainted, probably from stress and exhaustion. It is also low on blood sugar so me has given it an intravenous drip with some basic nutrients.”

I release my breath and feel my whole body relax. She’s alright, everything is fine. She’s not dying. “Will she wake up soon?”

“I have given it a sedative to make sure it does not wake up right now. It’s body is very exhausted and the stress hormones are high. It will be best if it sleeps for the time being.” Skillys turn to leave the room. “Me will be back to check on the human in about two hours. Me will lock the door so that it cannot leave the room on it’s own again.”

I give Skillys a nod and follow him outside the room. As a precaution I order a guard to come and stand outside the room, then I leave towards my quarters to change.

It is a strange feeling to feel so closely connected to another being. Even before I met her my possessiveness of her was strong and my short meeting with her now only strengthened it. I know that when a male has chosen his female and the female has accepted the male is very protective and possessive of his female. But our situation is so different from that. She’s not a Galdrian and she hasn’t even accepted my claim on her, but still I feel the connection, like it has always been there. Like it’s supposed to be there, like it’s supposed to be us. I quickly change into a black pair of gym shorts and a white tank top and make my way down to the gym.

Entering the gym I spot Kurn at the dumbbells so I head over to him. “Well, if it isn't the lost son!” He exclaims when I’m within hearing distance. “Where did you go off to?”

“Sorry about that. There was an emergency with the human. She snuck out of the examination room on her own, leaving Skillys and Nim in a panic.” I sigh as I collect some dumbbells for myself.

“Really?” Kurn is looking at me with curious eyes. “Did you go to find her, or what?”

“Yeah. I found her in the relaxing room next to the dining hall. Got to speak to her, her name is Elina, and I even had her on my lap.” At the memory of her on my lap my face breaks out in a dreamy smile. “She’s so small, and soft. And her skin, hair and eyes are so unusual and beautiful.”

“Ooh, you got it bad, that's for sure.” Kurn smirks at me. “So what happened? Where is she now?”

My face loses its smile and turns into a scowl instead. “She panicked and fainted. Skillys says she is stressed, exhausted and low on her blood sugar. For now she is sedated in the examination room. So I can’t stay for that long, cause I want to be back when Skillys checks in on her later, and I have to eat something before that.”

Kurns smirk falls at my distress. “I can somewhat understand that, man. Let's make the most of the training to wear you out so that you don't try any funny business when you see her again.” And his smirk is back in full glow. Shaking my head with a small smile of my own I pick up some free weights and start lifting.

Soon my head is completely empty except my focus on the weights in my hands and the stretch of my muscles. Workout always calms me and lets me focus on the here and now. But as time slowly ticks by I feel my concentration waver and I look up at the clock to see that it's only forty five minutes left until Skillys are to be back to check on Elina.

“I’m out now, Kurn. I’ll see you later.” I say, cleaning off and putting away my dumbbells.

“Say hi to your little mate from me, and tell her that if she is dissatisfied with you I’m always there to pick her up!” He gives me a mischievous smirk and a wink. He’s lucky I already put away the dumbbells or else he would have gotten one in his head. Instead I flip him off and leave to the sound of his laughter.

I make my way back to my room to change and take a shower. In the bathroom I throw my clothes in the automatic hamper to have them cleaned. Turning on the shower I look into the full body mirror, flexing my muscles. Looking good! Stepping into the shower, the hot water flowing over my tired arms and back feels amazing after a hard workout. My thoughts return to Elina and he sitting on my lap. Her moans as I stroked her thigh and whispered in her ear. The smell of her arousal. The memory has me hardening instantly and my hand makes its way down to grab my cock. I give a hard squeeze. But with a frustrated groan I let go.

I don’t have time for this. I have to eat something before I go to the examination room. If I’m lucky I’ll have my little mate with me back here before nighttime and then maybe she can take care of my erection.

With a dreamy smile I change the shower to cold. This certainly speeds up my shower and at the same time has me cooling off. I decided to let my hair be unstyled. Choosing a white t-shirt with the print of my favorite band and a pair of dark grey slacks I leave my room to go to the dining hall for a quick bite.

The dining hall is busting with life. Most of my platoon are finishing up and they give a salute when I pass them. Going up to the food synthesiser I choose a vegetable and cheese pie. Picking up my tray to look for a place to sit I see Zorahn wave me over. I go over to sit by him, Korben and Koloth, the identical twins that sit at his table. The three of them are best friends and you never see one without at least one of the other two.

“I heard they were able to retrieve the first human female, and that she survived and is healthy.” Zorahn says with a big smile on his face. “I can’t wait to meet her. Have you met her yet? I mean since you are the one who's gonna mate with her and all.” He gives me a wink wiggling his eyebrows.

“Actually I have met her. She snuck out of the examination room so I had to go find her. Found her in the relaxing room just outside the dining hall.” I answered him with a satisfied smile.

“When?” Korben’s eyebrows disappear up under his long locks that fall down his forehead.

“About two hours ago.” I scrunch my eyebrows together in confusion about the question.

“Shit, we missed her with only a few minutes then!” He groans and turns towards his brother. “I told you we should have stayed there longer. Then we would have had a chance to meet her.” Koloth only shrugs at this. and take a bite out of his burger.

“Just as well that she wasn't found by someone else but me. Skillys don’t want anyone to meet her yet because she is stressed and confused about her situation. I was able to speak to her for a good ten minutes but then she panicked and fainted.” I frown at the memory as I pick at my food, not feeling very hungry.

“Not surprised there,” Zorahn says with a smirk. “Any female seeing your ugly face would faint.”

“Shut up before I kick your ass!” I growl at him and the three laugh at me. I shake my head as I feel a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. Zorahn is a close friend of mine. We met during military school. Zorahn is not in my platoon, but we often meet up in the dining room, play room or the gym. Korben and Koloth are in the same platoon as Zorahn. I keep looking towards the clock to make sure I won’t miss the time.

“We’re heading to the pool for some swimming, then some rest before our shift goes on.” Koloth asks me as they finish their food. “Want to join?”

“Nah, Skillys is checking up on Elina soon and I want to be there when she wakes up again.” I stand and pick up my tray to take over to the dish even though it looks almost untouched. “Hopefully I can bring her to my quarters tonight.” I give them a smirk. “Otherwise I guess I’ll be spending my night at the research facility.”

“Lucky bastard.” Zorahn mutters under his breath. Then he turns to me and gives me his biggest puppy dog eyes, they are something of a speciality of his. “Maybe I can go with you and have a look at the little human?”

“No way. She’s all mine! And until we know she’s well enough she is not to meet others.” I huff at him, giving a lopsided smile. “See ya later.” I give them a wave as I leave the dining hall towards the examination room where my little human is sleeping.

When I reach the corridor of the research facility all is calm and the guard outside gives me a salut.

“There has been no movement from inside. Skillys arrived about ten minutes ago.” The guard gives me a small rapport of the situation. Nodding my head and dismissing the guard, I open the door and enter the examination room.

“How is she, Skillys?” I ask in an authoritative voice as soon as the door is closed behind me. I try to act calm and collected even as I’m anything but that. IMy heart is beating hard in my chest and I feel anxious about her state. Is she still stable? Has she fallen ill?

“All is well with the human, Captain Lazarus. She is still asleep but us have started to see some rise in brain activity, so she should wake up soon.” Skillys is reading on a chart but lifts his head to look at me when he speaks. He seems calm and collected. I look over towards Elina who is still asleep on the bed. Skillys have removed most of the wires that she was hooked up to.

“Is it alright if I am present when she wakes up?” I ask, just to be polite. I have no intention to leave the room before Elina comes with me to her new living quarters, which is mine as well.

Skillys gives me a hesitant look and then looks to Elina before he answers. “Me would prefer if sir is not present when the human wakes up, and that sir can wait until tomorrow with seeing the human. She is stressed and exhausted, and me would prefer it if me is not forced to give her more sedatives. Me do not want to put more stress on her body with drugs.”

“I can understand that, but at the same time I was able to calm her down earlier and have a conversation with her. It seems that she was positively affected by me and I would prefer not to leave my mate without my presence in this stressful time. I want her to have faith in me that I can care for all of her needs.” My voice is stern and I can see Skillys become a little jittery. He averts his eyes and starts to read on the chart again as if it will magically give him an answer as to how to get rid of me. It is obvious that he does not want me near Elina at the moment. But at the same time he knows how protective and possessive a Galdrian male is of their mate.

“That is true, sir. But at the same time the human has gone through a lot, and has been given a lot of information about her current situation and us expectations of her. Perhaps it is a little to early to reveal to the human that thee are in fact the Gald-”

“She already knows that it is me that will breed with her.” I cut into his speech, and his small yellow eyes immediately darted up to meet mine.

“Oh. Sir has told her this already?” Just as quickly as his eyes meet mine he averts them again. “Me would have preferred if that information had been saved for later. All tests are not done yet and then us does not know how well the human will accept us expectation of her.” Skillys is obviously irritated that I have given Elina the information of who I am to her, but that doesn’t affect me. “But me guess that nothing can be done about that now. If sir will move that chair up close to the head of the bunk and sit down so me can continue me examination.” Then Skillys gives me an unsure and shaky smile. “Me don’t know if this is appropriate to ask, but what did Captain Lazarus tell the human?” he asks me after I’m seated next to Elina.

I know I can refuse to answer him, considering it was a private conversation between me and Elina, but I answer anyway. “I said that we should get more comfortable with each other before we try to see if we are in fact compatible. She seemed to know that we wanted to breed her, but she was shocked that there seemed to be a predetermined mate for her. And the fact that we would produce the child naturally and not through insemination.”

“Yes, yes. Me told the human about the hope of breeding her with a Galdrian, but me did not get to the point of sir being her mate. Nor how the actual breeding would work. Me belive that this information could wait until she has grown more comfortable with the thought of breeding.” Skillys still seems a little irritated, but soon his face change to a smile. “Ah, human female named Elina. Me is glad to see thee have woken up.”
