CHAPTER 62

Selene’s POV

My eyes fluttered open slowly, and for a second, everything was still. Then my vision cleared and Dark was there.

Sitting right at the edge of the bed, staring at me like I was some puzzle he couldn’t solve.

I shrieked without meaning to, flinching hard and scrambling backward until my back hit the wall. My chest rose and fell fast, and I blinked rapidly, my heart pounding.

My throat was dry, and I swallowed hard, trying to steady my voice.

“W-what… what are you doing?” I stammered.

Dark stood slowly. His expression didn’t change.

He looked down at my bandaged leg.

“Your leg’s fine,” he said, then he just turned walking toward the door.

I blinked again.

Wait, what?

“Dark…” I called before he stepped out.

He paused at the door without turning.

I hesitated.

My fingers clutched the edge of the blanket, my throat suddenly dried again.

“I… I’m hungry,” I said quietly, almost like I wasn’t sure I was allowed to ask.

He stood there for a second, like he was processing
