CHAPTER 63

Selene’s POV

“I don’t need to break the curse,” Dark’s voice was low, “And I won’t keep her around anymore.”

My breath caught in my throat.

Curse?

What curse?

I leaned closer against the door, my heart pounding.

Inside, Lady Havana’s voice came next. “This is a chance, Dark. You could finally break it. You’ve never had this kind of opportunity before. Why won’t you take it?”

A heavy silence followed.

Then Dark said something I didn’t expect.

“I thought you’d stopped hating her.”

Lady Havana stuttered. I heard it. Her mouth opened, but no words came.

“I—” she started.

Suddenly, Dark’s head snapped toward the door.

I realized too late that I had gasped.

I turned on my heel and dashed away, ignoring the sting in my leg as I hurried back down the corridor. My fingers shook as I reached the room door, pushing it open and slamming it shut behind me.

I locked it.

Leaning against the door, I inhaled sharply. My heart was still racing.

What curse? Why doesn’t he want me around?

  • The chosen luna   Chapter 93

Selene’s POVWhen I woke up the next morning, I was back in my hotel room.My eyes snapped open. I sat up quickly and ran to the door, yanking it open. The hallway was quiet. How the hell am I back in my room? The last thing I remembered was the cave… the beast… It said my name.My head spun as I walked over to Chris’s room and knocked. The door opened, and Aria stepped out.She stared at me, her eyes unreadable, before walking past me without a word.Chris appeared next.He looked surprised to see me. “Come in,” he said quickly, then rushed after Aria.I stepped into his room and sat on the couch. The entire space reeked of Aria. It was suffocating.I walked to the windows and opened them wider, letting the fresh air in. Then I sprayed a bit of my own perfume. It felt better.Chris returned minutes later, looking sad and distracted. He dropped into the seat beside me.“Last night…” I started. “Were you the one who brought me back to my room?”He shook his head. “No, I didn’t. When I

  • The chosen luna   Chapter 92

Selene’s POVChris had just proposed to Aria and she accepted.“What about the wedding?” I asked, my throat dry.“It’ll be called off. Once they don’t see Aria, there won’t be a wedding. Then we can talk to her parents.” he had a cheerful smile.I glanced at Aria. Her head rested gently on his shoulder, her arms wrapped around his waist. My heart broke at the sight.“I’ll be at the hotel. I don’t feel okay. The trip must’ve made me sick,” I said, forcing a small smile.Chris pulled away from Aria and walked quickly toward me. “Are you sure you’re alright, Selene? We can head back together.”“No, it’s fine,” I interrupted, trying to keep my voice steady. “You stay with Aria. That’s why we came, remember?”His brows furrowed. I could see the hesitation in his eyes, part of him wanted to check on me, but another part was already turning back to her.“Alright. Just be safe, okay? And if it gets worse, call me.”I nodded, then turned and walked away.~~~I caught a taxi back to the hotel.

  • The chosen luna   Chapter 91- part two (The Alpha's possession)

SELENE’S POVI couldn’t have been more excited for this trip. My story pitch finally got approved, a once-in-a-lifetime shot at that big promotion. I should be out celebrating, or at least packing up my gear.Instead, I was sitting on a torn couch in my tiny apartment, watching a grown man cry into a tissue like the world had ended.“I can’t live without her, Selene,” Chris whimpered, blowing his nose for the fifth time. “She’s everything to me.”I sighed and handed him another tissue, my brows twitching with the effort to keep my mouth shut.“This is your fifth breakup in ten months, Chris,” I said quietly. “And it’s always her. It’s always Aria.”“She’s just upset. She’ll come around. She always does.”I clenched my jaw and stared at him, trying not to let the bitterness in my chest bubble up again. Aria. That name had become a knife to me. She had him wrapped around her little finger for years. The on-again, off-again disaster that was their relationship left him constantly wrecke
