“There’s someone who wants to see you, Mr Locke.” my assistant told me and I looked up to face her.

“Who is this someone?” I asked her.

“Beth Carter. Should I let her in, Mr Locke?” she asked while I shut my laptop close and I nodded.

“Let her in,” I told her. With that, she walked out of the office and seconds later, there was a knock on the door. Then Beth walked in and she smiled at me when I looked at her.

“I bet you’re surprised to see me showing up unannounced in your office” she said as she made her way to one of the chairs and sat down. All while I watched her make herself comfortable before she finally looked at me.

“What brings you here, Beth? I’m sure this unannounced visit had to do with Sophia. Right?” I asked her and she shrugged, that smile still stuck on her face.

“What if it has to do with Sophia? Are you eager to hear what I have to say?” she asked me too and I leaned back in my chair to have a proper look at her.
