Amelia's pov

My eyes broadened until they were almost the size of the dinner plates that were brought at that moment carrying an assortment of meals.

I allowed the intoxicating aroma of bacon to distract me from what he just said, and didn't even address it until it was right in front of me and the servants were gone.

“I'm sorry, that must have come off the wrong way. It's not like you are a prisoner here you are free to go or stay–the choice in your hands,”

I relaxed a bit when he said that, then helped myself to a bacon before responding.

“Actually, I was wondering if you could make me a temporary member of your pack,”

 “Temporary?” He raised an eyebrow.

“Yes, I might not be able to stay here for long. The truth is that..” Could I tell him about my amnesia? I guess there was no problem trusting him with that much.

“I have no memory of my past before I became a lone wolf, and it eats away at day and night. I'm always worried that there's something I'm supposed to do, but I just can't remember and sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy…” I cut myself off before I accidentally blabbed too much.

Those eyes were back on me, and the delicious food in front of him seemed like mere decoration with the way his eyes fully focused on carrying mine.

“Go on…” I didn't mean to tell him so much, in fact I didn't even know how much I have kept lodged in my heart but it all came spilling out everything I've been through climaxing with the rogues that were after me.

“Do you have any idea who it might be, that is the person after you?”

I shook my head helplessly, then went for the sunny side egg on my plate. I'd always kept my head down and minded my business most of the time. The money I made was as legitimate as it could be for any lone Wolf struggling to survive.

Nothing I’d done brought to mind an enemy that would be this fixated on me.

“Then what if it's something you don't remember?” He said breaking eye contact for the first time, and going down on his food. After a few thoughtful bites he continued looking at me and what he was hinting at finally struck me.

“Wait, are you trying to say that this person could be from my past?”

He nodded and swallowed, “Doesn't seem too far-fetched,”

I slumped against my chair with an exhausted groan.

“This only makes everything more complicated, I hope to run into a friend first but I guess it's just my sore luck that an enemy spotted me,”

I dropped my fork and ran my fingers through my hair.

“What if I don't even have any friends in the first place? Or family? Just enemies waiting to bite down on my neck when they get the chance?”

A tight feeling constricted my lungs, all this time I had lived in a silly fantasy that there was a family waiting for me, friends dying to see me again; a pack.

It had gotten me through my toughest days, when I wanted it to lie down and just quit.

There wasn't a moment I considered that maybe the opposite was reality.

I heard the scratching of furniture, and Alpha Kelvin was standing next to me by the time I raised my head.

“It's still too soon to confirm that, everyone has friends and foes. Just because you have people after you doesn't mean that there aren't people out there that care about you,”

Hearing those words lightened the weight that rested on my chest over the sudden realization of my naivety.

“But for now, We, the blowing Horn pack, can be your home,”

The preparations to initiate me as a member of the Blowing horn pack began; I got close with two other members of the pack. There was Elara; she was nurturing and kind and Lyra, she was sixteen younger than me and looked up to me.

Everyone else was also pretty welcoming, on the night of the initiation ceremony I took a long bath with scented oils and when I stepped out and dried off I was given a gown with a delicate embroidery of the pack symbol on it; a large horn shaped like crescent with a wolves head howling behind it.

My hair was braided into two puffy parts with ornaments and flowers placed inside then there was a veil covering my face. It was almost reminiscent of a wedding gown, one of the maids helping me get ready pointed this out with a teasing voice.

I blushed under the veil, denying it would only intensify the teasing so I kept mute.

To make the scene even more wedding-like, my initiation was held in the packhouse garden. It was large and well-tended and under the full moonlight it looked nothing short of magical, about fifteen packs members stood in attendance as Alpha Kelvin, also in a ceremonial robe, waited for me with an Elder holding a weathered book.

Alpha Kevin in that black ceremonial robe was giving off raw Alpha power that stroked goosebumps through my skin and as always his eyes found mine and had blood rushing up my neck and spreading across my cheeks.

When I stood facing his towering frame it was time for the ‘Vows’

I was on one knee for that part, and there was an Omega that rushed forward with a staff.

The staff felt cool to touch as it pressed lightly on my shoulder through the thin fabric as Alpha Kelvin held it on the other side.

“Repeat after me…” the pack Elder said, “I vow to pledge myself…”

 “I vow to pledge myself…”

This continued until it came to the end of the vows. Then Alpha Kelvin lifted the staff and pulled me up to my feet with a smile and said; “Welcome to the Blowing horn pack, Amelia Bruntly,”

Kelvin's pov The Blowing horn pack fit Amelia like a glove, at least most times it did. When she thought no one was looking, she'd stare into the distance like something–someone–was calling for her. It only lasted for a second then she was all smiles again and my chest would cave in. What could I do to truly make her want to stay? I needed her to stay…the moon goddess had led me to her, she was my only hope to finally be free of… “Alpha Kelvin,” Elara’s youthful and motherly voice sliced through my incoming headache as she walked in with a plate holding three scrumptious sandwiches. I'd been holed up in my office all day and hadn't gotten the chance to even think about food. “Thanks, Elara…” one bite was enough to tell me that she didn't make the sandwich. It wasn't bad–just different. She noticed my curiosity before I even voiced it. “Amelia made the sandwiches,” “She did?” I said taking a bigger bite, suddenly they tasted even better than before. “She did,” Elara affirmed

Amelia's POV For the next 3 days my body battled with a fever and slipped in and out of consciousness constantly. It wasn't just the cold that got to me, days of living on the edge barely surviving while I was being chased relentlessly. My body had been running on nothing but sheer adrenaline but now that I knew that I was safe, it sizzled out and my body surrendered to the fever. Tala remained by my side, taking care of me. At least that's what the foggy bits of my memory told me, but she wasn't the only one, another less familiar face kept popping up. Alpha Kelvin. He'd saved me that night, expecting nothing apparently. It seemed so strange. “Amelia, now that you're feeling better you'll have to present yourself to Alpha Kelvin,” Tala told me as she-handed me a bowl of warm soup. “Okay, I have no problem with that,” I said, picking up my spoon. “By the way…” Tala's voice dropped by a decibel and she scooted over to me, “Have you remembered anything yet?” The soup suddenly b

Kelvin's pov “Dammit, have they caught up already?” She whispered just below I her breath but my ears were too sharp to miss it, did this woman have someone after her? That would explain why she was so cautious. The moon goddess had led me straight to her, called my wolf to the river bank. But if we were ambushed now I was immediately set at a hard disadvantage protecting her, is she really worth all that trouble? My internal conflict temporarily subsided when she subconsciously gripped my fur tighter and a strong resolution to protect her overwhelmed me. I bared my teeth and let out a growl, preparing to pounce and…“Alpha Kelvin!” A mind link shot through my head like a needle. Oh, it was only Tala. A chirpy pack member that had joined Blowing horn pack only a year ago.A wave of palpable relief washed over me, not because I couldn't hold my own in a fight but protecting someone else while fighting was too much of a headache. “Tala, it's too late into the night to be wandering

Aria’s pov “Catch her! We can't let her escape!” my feet begged for rest that I couldn't grant, the woods blurred past the corner of my eye with a blur of trees and thorns. Three days. That's how long these rogues had been chasing me, I was a lone wolf and a woman so creepers trying to take advantage of that wasn't novel to me. But something was off, this relentless pursuit made no sense for rogues unless. My eyes widened by an inch as I came to a river with a broken bridge. I was being targeted.“There's nowhere left to run, b*tch,” one of them said between a growl of satisfaction it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand. “Who sent you?!” I yelled turning away from the uncrossable river. It was only for a moment, but I saw it. A hesitant pause that swept through all my pursuers, meaning I was right. Someone was after me. “Just be a good girl and surrender, we promise to be gentle,” one of them with several chips teeths said. I forced back my vomit, skin crawled
