Planted on purpose

I was standing in front of the rainbow of flowers. 

Different colors of flowers covered every inch of the ground. The boundary consisted of the flowers arranged in the rainbow pattern. A narrow path of large stone led to a table made of marble with two chairs around it. 

Inhaling the aroma of flowers I looked at Damien with a grin, "This is beautiful."

"My mother used to spend most of her time here. She made this, it was her favorite spot in the entire garden," Damien explained with a warm smile on his lips but a sad look in his eyes.

I felt a thorn stabbing my heart as I remembered Emily's words.

"I am sorry, Damien, I had no idea that the hunters of Greenpine were involved in..." I could not complete the sentence. 

"It's not your fault, Nora."

"How can you be so understanding? Were you never upset after finding out I was from that town," I lowered my voice while saying the last part.

"I was," Damien said dryly,
