LOGINChapter four
Solene's pov.
“Owwww.”
I cried as I felt something hard hit the middle of my face.
My glasses broke in the middle and it hit my nose hard.
I only thought I had a broken glass until blood started dripping on the pages of the homework I was working on.
I had found a good spot to sit in while Noah practices, in order to make good my time.
I brought out my books to work on, playing deaf to the screams of the cheer leaders who would do anything to be in Noah's bed.
“Ewwww, freak. You've got blood all over the place.” Becca mocked.
I swiped at my nose, and the back of my hand was covered in blood.
I stood up quickly, the books dropped to the ground.
“Don’t just stand there freak, you're going to make us puke with that horrible sight. Go wash up or something.” Noah jeered from the rink.
My eyes met his in a hateful glare.
“Noah Campbell you freaking idiot!!” I shrieked.
The hockey players burst out laughing, so did the foolish cheer girls.
I stomped off to the nurses office, I just hope she'd still be there.
Luckily she was still there, but ready to leave.
“Ohhhhhhh Solene, what happened to your face?, you need to be careful.” Nurse Mira led me to the bed.
I wanted to pour out my soul to her, let her know it was that bird brain Noah Campbell that did this, and he still called me a freak on it.
My glasses are damaged, and mom would not even bother getting me a new one.
I drew in a long deep breath as nurse Mira started cleaning the wound to stop the flow of blood.
It was pointless complaining to her, in Brooklyn high, Noah Campbell is a god, I don't think any staff would want to go against him for fear of losing their jobs.
Urgh.
This is so frustrating.
“There we go, all good.” Nurse Mira smiled as she placed the plaster over my nose.
“Thank you.” I smiled back at her.
My shirt was already soiled with blood from my nose, but I didn't care.
I'll take care of it when I get home.
As I opened the door if the nurse’s office.
I saw some hockey players walking along the hallway as well.
Great, they're done with practice.
I went outside, hoping to see Noah by his car, but he wasn't there.
I need to get home, I've had quite a day.
I went back to the hockey rink, it was empty, where could that asshole be?.
Somehow, I found my way to the boys locker room, there he was with Becca Flynn.
Shoving her tongue down his throat like her life depends on it.
“Ahem.” I cleared my throat.
“Sorry to break whatever is going on here, but I need to leave right now.”
Becca's hitched skirt came down as she stood up from a bare chested Noah.
“The freak doesn't have manners, I see.
I think you'll be running down to nurse Mira's in a few because of what I'm about to do to you.” Becca spat.
I flinched at her words, Becca was not one to throw threats lightly.
She's on the same train as Noah when it comes to bullying, but hers is a combination of verbal, physical and emotional bullying.
“Here.”
Noah tossed me his keys before Becca could make good her threat.
“Go wait for me in the car.”
I didn't wait to be told twice, I already bsaw the shock in Becca's face when Noah tossed me his car keys.
Becca always rode with him after school, the entire school knows that.
I am so going to be toast.
Luckily for me, the other hockey players were not in the packing lot as struggled to open the car.
Some minutes after, Noah came out alone.
Becca must be too pissed to want to come out and see me in her regular spot.
Noah started the car after throwing me a haughty look.
“I don't like my car getting dirty.”
“Dirty?” I scoffed.
“Did you just say dirty?, you did this to me.” I pointed at my plastered nose.
“Good, now we know what you look like without glasses, and it wasn't on purpose either, not that it matters.”
“An apology would be nice.” I grumbled.
“You'd wait a lifetime for that Greasely.” Noah smirked.
Okay,
I see how he wants to play it.
I don't need his stinking apology after all.
When he pulled up at the house, I didn't wait a second before jumping out and slamming the car door loudly behind me.
Drawing out a shout from Noah.
I don't bloody care, I hate him and I hate that get to ride with him from school.
“What happened to your face.?” Alfred stopped me.
A half wine glass in his hand.
I halted, I didn't know he'd be home by this time, mom only threw me a glance and continued with her phone.
I shouldn't expect less from her, she should have been Noah's mom instead.
If only Noah had apologized, I wouldn't be doing this.
“It's Noah, he hit me with the hockey punk and it broke my glasses.”
I was furious now, and damn the consequences.
Noah can't get away with treating me like trash all the time.
“Noah.” Alfred's face registered surprise.
“Yeah.” Noah answered form behind.
He thought he was being called.
“What did you do to Solene?” Alfred's voice was icy cold.
Noah shrugged his shoulder.
“I have no idea what you are talking about.”
“You were supposed to look after her in school, instead, you're the one getting her hurt. She's your sister for goodness sakes.”
“She's not my fucking sister.” Noah yelled at Alfred.
“You're going to believe her over me?”
Mom quickly stepped into the scene.
“I'm sure he didn't do anything and Solene was just being clumsy.” She eyed me
Trust her not to take my side.
I actually didn't mean for it to escalate.
“The car keys, now.” Alfred demanded with an outstretched hand.
Noah dug his hand in
to his pocket and shoved the key into Alfred's palm.
That was it, he's seizing the keys.
Or so I thought.
“Solene.” Alfred turned to me.
“The car is yours now.”
Noah's pov.My eyes rolled into my socket as he threw me a good punch. It hit under my nose hard, and it affected my full headFuck, this guy just looks soft on the outside, I never imagined he could handle his fists.I had come to the party on Vale's invitation, he had some plans about a friendly hockey game between our schools. The idea was to go all out, ruffle it up no matter what.Caroline had the flu, but she told me that I could attend I didn't want to leave her behind, especially as I knew that Solene would be at the party as well.We just came out of one hell of a fight recently, and I don't want us to fall back to it.She had cupped my cheeks in her hands.“Don't worry babe, I'm done with the jealous streak, you can even say hello to Solene for me.”That was more than surprising though.Solene still wouldn't talk to her, she said there were no hard feelings. She just doesn't want to be cozy around Caroline anymore.Part of it was my fault though.Since I keep talking about
Aaron's pov.Contrary to how my parents and lovely sister advised me to act towards Solene.I acted differently. When I received the invitation from Vale, the first thing that came to my mind was, this is an opportunity for me to fix things between us.Nothing was broken in the first place, I wouldn't say we were friends.Sometimes, she doesn't even treat me as a friend. Just someone she bumped into and had an encounter with.I immediately asked Vale if Solene was going to be there as well.“You bet she will, I'm sure she's looking forward to seeing you as well.”That was how I found myself, looking for the perfect outfit to wear for the party.I'm not really a party person, except on occasions like the corporate party that Alfred Campbell hosted.I am well acquainted with that type of party due to my family's involvement in several. When she opened the door, I just couldn't play along with what I had in mindA new version of me replaced the one that wanted to be in Solene's good grac
Solene's pov.People started filing into Vale's apartment when the sun was a place orange in the sky. Most of which were his hockey teammates from school and some of Anika's friends as well that came to grace the party. No one came from my side, I wouldn't actually count Aaron as he didn't get his invitation from me.Anika has dragged me to a corner in the kitchen when the number of guests had increased to about fifteen.Vale decided that it was time to start with some soft music to keep the party alive.Right before the heat would be tuned up.“So.” She screeched excitedly.“How did it go while we were away?” I rolled my eyes in annoyance, if only they knew how bored I was out of my mind.Aaron just busied himself with doing a couple of things on his phone, which I knew was boring To him, watching how penguins mate was more interesting than holding a conversation with me.“The worst decision you and Vale ever made was to leave me with him, shit didn't happen.”Her eyes became sombe
Solene's pov.I have only been with one person my entire life, maybe two. But I wouldn't really count what I had with Vale as some kind of relationship. So, it's difficult for me to understand how the minds of guys work.I already spoke to Susan Mathews and she clarified that Aaron had nothing to do with me getting the internship into her program.I decided to wait for an entire day before I called him.All day he didn't pick, and twice he sent it to voicemail.“What is he trying to do? Okay hard to get.” I asked and answered my own question.I was at Vale's place. Anika and I were helping him set up his apartment for his birthday party. He's the only friend I have and the only one I can rant to.Alfred would have been nice to have this kind of conversation with.Whatever he knows about my lovelife, would be related to Noah. The last thing I wanted was Noah butting into my love life.“Would you really blame the guy?” Vale said from the ladder he was on. He was arranging a fancy lime al
Mallory's pov.My mouth hung open in the biggest surprise as I listened to Barbara relay how uncle Alfred has helped her come up with plans before handIf I wasn't impressed, then I was bloody lying. Who knew she had it in her? “Wow, mom, you've completely and totally rendered me speechless right now. Are you for real?”She flung her hair back stylishly, her eyes glowed with so much excitement.I am so glad she took this bold step, I would have been cooked for real. She touched my face with the rip of her fingers.“You called me mom.” Tears were at the brim of her eyes.I shrugged my shoulders.“Well, you are my mom, what else was I supposed to call you?”The tears spilled out of her eyelids ceaselessly “You haven't called me mom in years.”Damn, who knew Barbara could be such a cry baby, she always held her head high like she didn't give a shit about anything.I realised I haven't given her a proper apology for the things I put her through.“I know the past years.”She put a hand t
Mallory's pov.I'm going to kill him, that stupid Dean, he used me.Made a fool of me, wasted my years of efforts and commitment on him.My elbow grazed the block when he threw me out.I packed my hair away from my face, fuck.No one in the neighborhood came out despite my cries and shouts. They are all so fucked up.I stood up and brushed the dirt off my body. The tears refused to come out of my eyes.It was lodged in my throat, in my chest.I was shattered beyond recognition, I can't believe this is actually happening to me.I let myself be used by a man, used, and torn apart like a piece of rag.My feet crunched something metallic as I made to leave.Staying in the same atmosphere as Dean was choking me more than the betrayal.I had to leave. On a closer look, it was the key to the car.I let out a puff of air from my lungs, it was draining to even breathe. So, this was the only thing I gotOh god. Barbara's going to make so much fun of me.She warned me, they all did.Noah, uncle
